This is where you will post your pics and brag about the great deals you got at CVS.

I know how excited you can get when you get a fabulous deal at CVS. Just yesterday I expressed at work what a great shopping day I had on Sunday. They're used to me and my coupons. LOL Anywho, I wanted to say that you need to think before you come on here and brag. Ask yourself these questions.
Was what I bought and the coupons I used 100% above board?
CVS has household limits. Did I go way beyond those limits?
If something I bought was in short supply to others should I really show my picture of the 20 I got?
If the employees at my CVS(s) saw this picture/brag what would they think?

Some things, while still "legal" to post about here on HCW, should be thought through carefully before posting.

Awesome job girl!
Mod- Have a question..When I once listed that a manager substituted a product for me, like this person did, you gave me an infraction...So are we allowed to substitute products with managers permission or not? Not trying to start trouble, just want clarification...

Your infraction was for misuse of the Nivea coupon. If the manager wants to allow a product substitution for a sale item that is fine but, any coupon used still has to be good on the product substituted.

Sorry, what is an infraction and how do you know if you have one?

it's a boo-boo, and can earn a scolding or a time-out. but, first you get a warning, then you get an infraction, so you have plenty of chances to follow the rules before you get into trouble. don't worry about it- most people never get one in their entire career here!

It was a cold, crisp night. I had a long 3 hour trip ahead of me and if I timed it right I would get home in time to see Private Practice but would miss Grey's Anatomy. My mom had given me permission to help her at CVS as she had not ever really used the ECB program. As I drove I realized I would be passing a small town with a CVS. I decided to stop in. Virgin territory for me, lol.

A fresh card, with no deals done yet for the month or the week! A new CVS, with lots of my wish list in stock. No ECB's to start, but I had taken coupons with me and I was prepared for the hunt!

Quickly I gathered 5 Colgate Totals, 2 Neutragena bars, 8 cotton rounds, 2 Earinse, a Fusion Gamer razor, and an Airborne Squid soap.

I approached the counter; the store had light business at that hour. In fact, the cashier was trying to vacuum the floor. I mentioned that I wanted to do multiple transactions...and she said no problem.

I started small, with just 2 Colgates. My mom got the $5/$15 purchase coupon and the $25 off a new or transferred prescription coupon as well, right off the bat! Jackpot! I then proceeded to do numerous transactions. I stepped aside whenever anyone else came to the register. Then we started up again. This was the most helpful cashier I had ever encountered! I told her I had "studied up" to prepare for the visit; she started rooting for the ECB's that were printing out. Midway through the transactions she reached behind the counter and gave me next week's ad. Later, she gave me the March monthly ad as well!

Once I finished my mom's stuff I went back and got the Fusion Gamer and 3 more Colgate for myself. More transactions! And I got the $5/15 coupon, too! And the $3/2 shampoos, etc. What a night!

I left with my mom's ECB's totalling near $26 and I had spent around $11 OOP for her: $3.40, $.60, $.21, $.00, $4.55, $2.26.

My own transactions were $.39, and $.82, adding to the one I had for $.27 earlier in the week. My ECB's were growing, too. As I continued my trip I went over the transactions in my head, trying to determine if I could have minimized the OOP any further than I had. By the time I got home, I missed seeing Private Practice, but I still had a big smile on my face from the good experience at CVS with the well stocked store, nice and helpful cashier, and all the great ECB deals! Thanks, HCW for showing me how to shop CVS!

lakies...I love the 'story' format! LOL!! I am still on the edge of my seat though, what did your Mom think after her shopping experience with you? ;)

Thanks! She is now visiting one of my siblings, so I plan to take a bag of CVS finds and freebies to her the next time I go to visit her. She does not really understand the ECB program and when I tried to explain why she should get her prescriptions filled there for the $25 free gift card she said she did not want to use the gas to drive to the CVS (maybe 4 - 5 miles?) and that she could walk to the local pharmacy. :) (God Bless the moms who grew up in the Depression era--they have so much to teach us!) So I thought the best way was, with her permission, get the stuff and show her after the fact. I already gave her one of the Sambucols I got in January, so I am breaking her in a bit at a time!

I didn't do as good as some of you. I usually never think of CVS as my "coupon go to store". But when I saw Colgate toothpaste for $.88 a tube and I had a $.75 off coupon for it.. I just had to go.
I got 3 Colgates, 2 Aquafresh, 2 Crests, 3 Colgate tooth brushes and 2- 64oz Gold Emblem Apple juices, and I had $4.00 ECBs and paid $7.02. I was excited. Now I am stocked on TP!!

How do the ECB work? If you spend so much you get those back. I was disappointed when I didn't get any printed back off.

You have to buy SPECIFIC items either from the weekly ad or the monthly book to get ECBs. CVS can really be a great couponing store once you learn how to work the deals!

You start by getting a CVS Extra Care card and studying the weekly ad and the monthly ad. Look for the deals with the extra bucks back.

You start to get in the CVS cycle of savings--getting the stuff you use but when they have ECB's.

Then you get hooked...and start buying stuff you may not need but could donate somewhere...because you actually make $$ when you buy it!

For example, last week there was a weekly sale on Colgate Total, on sale for $2.99 and you got back $2.99 in ECB's so the Total was free! And if you had a coupon on it you made money!

Then there are the twists on the weekly specials, like last week the Neutragena buy two items get $10 in ECB's. Turns out the Neut. face soap bars worked for the deal and they were $2.99 each. So buying two of those for $5.98 genereated an ECB of $10. A money maker of $4.02 :) .

Then there are the coupons that you get from CVS for $/$$--like $5/$15 purchase. Now CVS is paying you to shop there! CVS also gives you coupons for items in the store, and these can be stacked with the manufacturer's coupon.

Then there are the gift cards you can get for transferring a prescription to CVS if you have one of their coupons for it or a competitor's coupon. Those gift cards help you with your out of pocket.

And then, CVS will give you 2% back on your spending each quarter!

Coupons + Extra Care Bucks + CVS coupons + CVS $/$$ coupons + CVS gift cards for prescriptions + quarterly $ back....that's what is so great about CVS!

I have learned a lot from reading about other posters transactions--so here's a good one for me:

The magical $2 ECB:

Went late Sunday afternoon to CVS. Scanner blew me off: "no coupons today". But lots of the things I wanted were in stock and hardly any other customer was in the store.

Collected my items, picked up the ads, and went to the chairs by the pharmacy (I think I read this suggestion in Seedlady's thread--thanks, Seedlady!). Looking over the only ECB's I had, $1.98 and $4.99, here's what I worked out with the coupons:

Trans 1:
crest pro health 2.99
coupon: - .75
ECB: -1.98
subtotal .26 ; plus tax-- oop .33; get 2 ECB's

Trans 2, 3, and 4 (rinse and repeat):
vaseline lotion $3.69
coupon: - $1.50
ECB: -$2
subtotal: .19; plus tax-- oop .31, get $2 ECB's

Trans. 5:
2 herbal essence hyrdal. shampoos @ 2.79 ea= 5.76
coupon: - $3/2
ECB: -$2
subtotal: .76; plus tax --oop $1.01, get $2 ECBs

Trans. 6
renuzit triscents $4.99
phys. formula (clearance) eyeshadow $1.99
renuzit coupon -$4
PF coupon -$1
ECBs -$2
subtotal -.02; plus tax-oop $.31 (but no ECB's back)

So with a $1.98 ECB and $.33, $.31, $.31, $.31, $1.01, and .31 oops ($2.58 total) and some manufacturer coupons, I was able to get 2 HE shampoos, 3 Vaseline lotions, one Crest Pro Health toothpaste, one Renuzit Triscent, and one PF eyeshadow!

So then I decided to get the Phys. Formula bronzer and use the $4.99 ECB:

trans 7:
PF bronzer: $14.99
coupon: -$1
ECB: -$4.99
subtotal $9; plus tax oop 9.65, got $10 ECB

I have not been getting the good $/$$ coupons, so for me, this was a good trip to CVS! I only had to step aside for one customer when doing all the transactions. The cashier was friendly and seemed to enjoy watching the low oop's ring up. I know when I have built up more ECB's I can make this even better!

Thanks, HCW, I learned it here!

Brought DH along with me so he could see how its done. I told him to bring only 1.00 and I told him we would get the trash bags and baby wipes we needed. He laughed and said OK:giggle2:

So here is what we got.

2 meters
1 Michael Jackson Thriller CD
1 box of CVS trash bags
2 Huggies baby wipes
4 Febreeze noticibles
1 Febreeze air effects
1 Febreeze fabric spray

All for .68. He was in shock.

Then we went over to Albies and got three 4 packs of AA batteries for .20.

And he still had .12 Left over :BigHand:

He knew that I would get these deals but he always just thought I was spending more than I said..Now he is a true believer:hysterical:

That is awesome! I would love to do that. But if I bring DH, I have to bring the kids too. :rolleyes24: maybe some day.

3 Gold Emblem Nuts
After Coupons and ECB's, OOP $1.31, earned $20.79 in ECB's.

I didn't realize until after the fact that the last 4 mentos gums didn't count torward my $15 needed for the $5 ECB's. She rang them up as non taxable items, so I needed to buy 4 more gum. Had I noticed it then, I would have asked her to adjust the first transaction rather then buy more gum. I think that may have been because I had over 10 of the same coupon. The 11 one beeped and she entered the rest manually.

Good trip tonight on stuff I'll use!

$10.00 1 Kashi cereal, 2 Kashi crackers, used $1.50 off cracker wyb cereal IP and $1/1 cracker peelie
$11.99 1 Nexxus Botanluxe leave-in conditioner, 8.5 oz., used $3/1 insert q
1.88 1 CVS tampons
2.88 1 Colgate Toothpaste, used $1/1 insert q
1.98 2 GE nuts, used $2/2 CRT
4.90 5 misc. FAECB school supplies
-------
$33.96
- 5.00 $5/$30
------
28.96
-8.50 inserts, IPs, and CRTs
------
$20.46
-13.00 ECB
-------
$7.46 OOP, earned $18.78

My math was off (thought colgate was $1 ECB not $2, forgot to add in Nexxus ECB), so I should have spent more ECBs to lower my OOP. I always try to spend whatever I'm earning, so that my OOP reflects my actual spending and I keep ECBs "in the bank." Should have had OOP at $2.50 for all that stuff.

I'm a big Kashi fan, so this was a great deal for me!

I went to two CVS's tonite. Cashiers/asst. managers were GREAT in giving me sale prices and ECB's....all of which needed to be manually entered and forced.

First store:
3 Electrasol Power Tabs @ $4.50 each
1 Bengay Ultra 4 oz. @ $6.50
1 Tylenol Extra Strength (24 count Bonus pack) @ $4.00

- $7.50 Electrasol (3 $2.50 Q's)
- $4 Blink Tears
- $2 Tylenol Extra Strength

Paid with $9.98 ECB's and $3.19 OOP
Got back $13 ECB (Blink Tears $8, and Bengay/Tylenol Buy $10-Get $5)
(so final cost was actually 17 cents)

2nd Store
2 Electrasol Power Tabs @ $4.50 each

my cvs forced the ecb for the softsoap for me tonight...after it rang in and i paid for it, the cashier said, "was this supposed to give bucks?" and i said it was, and then we both realized that it was a sun/mon/tues deal. the assistant manager was ringing beside us and chimed right in, saying "she can have them--go ahead and print them."
i said i was willing to come back tomorrow bc it was MY mistake, but they said it was no problem.

i made sure to email cvs to tell them i received excellent service (didn't say how -- don't want "my girls" to get in trouble). :whistle67:

Nice job, aneesha23! :BigHand:

Sunday:

-School supplies, various, won't bore with the details
2-Stayfree pads, $5 each minus (1) $1 IP & (1) B1G1 free
1-Blink tears, $7.99, can you believe I forgot to use a Q???

Also used: 1-$5/$30 CVS Q

Here's why I forgot--My total before tax was $20.87--I could make that EXACT amount from ECBs. It would have been my biggest totally free transaction to date--had I picked up the right folders. I would have been ok w/that but one was priced at .49 & the other .50--I did NOT scan them (as I usually do) before checkout. Believe me, I learned my lesson. The manager said "Oh wow-that was almost perfect! Just one penny before tax!" If he only knew! :giggle2: I wasn't going back over $1.52 (end total)--especially since the manager has gone out of his way to make me feel welcome in his store (there was an issue before). Live & learn. Note to self--USE THE DANG SCANNER!

They had no body wash yesterday but today:

1-Colgate Sensitive, $3.50 minus (1) $1 IP & (1) $1.50 CRT
1-Gillette Fusion Razor, $8.99 minus $2 MQ
1-Gillette body wash, $3.99 minus FREE WYB razor MQ
1-Softsoap Nutri Serum, $4.99 minus $2 IP **had to ask about it, none was out. One of the employees went in back to grab it--and only brought out one--so I didn't ask for more. I'll go tomorrow.

Total OOP: $1.96 (I never posted the total :giggle2:)

Used $10.86 ECBs, earned $7 ECBs

**Just noticed some ECBs rang up "CVS MQ" and some just "CVS Q"...hmm.

it's a boo-boo, and can earn a scolding or a time-out. but, first you get a pm, then you get a warning, then you get an infraction, so you have plenty of chances to follow the rules before you get into trouble. don't worry about it- most people never get one in their entire career here! I opened up my email one day and said I had a message which was from a moderator. I had received an infraction for something I posted. I honestly was not aware that I had done anything wrong, call it ignorance on my part. I don't recall receiving a warning such as to remove the post or else. Also, the infraction never expires. I am upset that it is on my record but what can one do you know.

Not the best of deals to be had when it comes to diapers, but still a good deal- in my eyes, anytime you're out of pocket a buck or so, it's a good deal kind of a shopping trip. And you can put the $4 ECB to good use this coming week- there will be more school supply freebies where you'll be able to keep the ECBs rolling. If you have another CVS card handy (and ECBs to pick up the difference), why not try repeating this, grabbing an autofill q booklet from the pharmacy and adding another $2 of something you need to make it a slightly better deal?

Today was so much fun. I got:

2 different L'Oreal wrinkle creams (the duo eye cream and one other)
2 packs of L'Oreal towelettes
1 pair of headphones
2 mini composition books
2 packs of filler paper
2 packs of pens
6 first aid kits
The double Sunday paper (the local paper bundles the early and late edition for one price - double the coupons!)

I spent about $3 OOP (most of it sales tax) and I wound up with about a $7 ECB profit when all was said and done.

(By the way the last First Aid Q's are beeping but my Cashier pushed it thru)

If you buy an equal number of kits to coupons, the last one will beep to be adjusted since the coupons are for $1 and the kits are 99 cents. But if you buy one more kit than you have coupons, they won't beep (but you won't get the last one for free ;) ).

MrsAlias

I grabbed 6 first aid kits, and they all had white stickers over the barcode. So the manager rang them in as "taxable"... I said something, because I had coupons, but he agreed to push the coupons through... but then I realized once I was home that the ECB's did not print.. duh! Do you think they will force them to?

- $4/$20
- $17 ECBs
subtotal $1.79 paid with gift card from MyPoints
got back $19.91 in ecbs

I'm new to CVS'ing, but I thought I did pretty well here.

I picked up a set of dive rings, dive sticks, a package of four balls and a package of beach toys for a total cost, including tax of $2.53. After deducting my ECBs of $1.98, total OOP was only $.55!

I'll be saving all this stuff for when my grandson comes to visit and/or goes to the beach with us next summer!

I took this week as an opportunity to build my stash of ECBs back up. The CVS deals were lacking for so many weeks, that my ECBs were about to expire! So I used them all up last week.

That meant that I needed to take advantage of that great AccuChek monitor deal this week. I did two transactions to walk away with $17 extra bucks!

Here was the summary:

Paid $12.90 oop
Saved $65.49
Walked out with $17 ECB

You can visit my blog, if you want to see the whole deal played out in detail!!!

My husband was so proud of himself that he asked I post this just incase you ladies haven't found it yet! We are both very new to this coupon world so please bare with me =)

We went to CVS Sunday evening after cutting out our coupons and he decided to get some of the Herbal Essence Shampoo & Conditioner. These were onsale for $3 and then we had coupons for a buy a shampoo or conditioner and get a styling product free. We also had some $1 off Shampoo and Conditioner, too which made this an awesome deal for us. (I am so sorry, but I'm not sure which week these coupons came from, but we only buy the Sunday paper so if you buy those you should have them!!) So we had $12 towards the P&G deal for the $10 off Transformers DVD.

After he was done patting himself on the back for this one we realized we still needed trick or treat candy and remembered we had saw the B3G1 Free coupons on KitKats/Hershey/Reeces and knew we had .55c off Reeces products(only one unfortunately as we'd already used the others). We bought 6 bags of the snack size candy and got 2 free with the coupons which gave us our $20 we needed for the 5 ECB. These ended up costing $1.81 per bag(this includes the 2 free bags) I believe, if my math is correct. So, if you then also say "HEY we got $5 back on ECBs" then they only cost $1.18 per bag.

Gosh I hope that helps someone =D

Again, we are new and I'm sorry if this is just a long ramble, but we were happy with our finds =) Hopefully someone else can benefit

Did the free herbal essence styler count toward the P&G deal or only the shampoo and conditioner. I would love to get the movie as cheap as I can.
