I went to Copps last night for double daze, and went thru the self check like normal. At the end of scanning in my items I started scanning my Q's. Machine told me Q's must be scanned at end of transaction. I was like "This is the end of my transaction!". The cashier came over and told me that they have to scan in all the Q's for us. I said "I always scanned my own in". She told me "Yeah, it just started today." :shrug7: Anyone else have this happen? I go to self check so I don't have to worry about the cashier messing up the coupons. :frown:

I've never used the self-checkouts (we actually just got them at our new store - Main St. East Green Bay), but I'm not surprised. I would think it would be easier to "sneak" coupons through that aren't legit (of course I'm not suggesting anyone on here would do that, but I think it happens!). For instance, my store won't accept IP's over $1 (ridiculous, IMO), but in the self-checkout, I would think some ppl could get them to scan, since they are legitimate coupons.

It's too bad some ppl out there have to ruin things for coupon users who go by the rules.

The only ones our cashiers have to scan are the frees.

My guess is that someone was doing something they should not and the store caught on. Now they don't trust anyone
Once, when I went a year ago, they let me scan them but then had to come over and look at the coupons because someone(not me) had been using expired coupons
That blew over tho because now they don't check them anymore

My PNS self check implemented this today as well. Funny thing was that the self check would never give an overage when something was free - it deducted the amount to get the item to 0. Because the cashier had to do the q's on my items, I ended up getting .51 over for the Colgate that was on sale for .99 because of my .75 off coupon.

Yep my self check in Kenosha was like this today too. The cashier lady over looking the area was ticked that they did that though lol...more work for her she said.
Isn't it great that they advertise double daze then make their customers feel like criminals? Kewl I'll just go through the regular lines and hold everyone up if that's the way they want it. :rolleyes24:

My PNS just implemented this now too! I was so PO'd when I got to the self check and found out that I couldn't use 1/2 of my coupons (because they were IP's for $1.00) and that I couldn't even scan my own in! Why in the world would I go through all that work myself in the "Self-check" lane, AND bag my own groceries when I can't even scan my own coupons or use 1/2 the ones I had planned on! I agree with mrsmom.....if they want me to hold up the line, then that's fine.

Not sure if Oshkosh is different or more liberal, but I'm sure that at least one of my q's was an IP for $1. She scanned it for me and the nice little voice in the machine doubled it for me :)

I only really like the self check because it talks to me. I'm usually there with my 18mth old and I can hear if the item rang up correctly. When I'm with a cashier I have to pay WAYYYY to much attention to the speedy cashier and try to keep my son happy. (He keeps looking for the talking voice when we self-check - a little bowl of goldfish crackers helps too :) I take my sweet time, one item at a time and know exactly what I'm getting. I caught a $1 error on Emergen-C on Monday because I self checked.

Seems like they're enforcing this policy at the Madison Shorewood location.

*I tried to scan coupon mid-purchase - said "must scan at end of purchase only"
*got to the end of my purchase and tried scanning coupon - said "assistance required"
*employee came over and did some stuff on the screen and took the coupon rather than depositing it in the slot.
