can anyone tell me if i am keeping this journal right??
Here are some example of what i am doing..

Like on the clothes i compared the price to walmart prices because that is where i usually get the kids clothes. Not the very high prices that they were originally at the outelt sstore, also like the gum from CVS.. I put the sale price instead of the regular price because i would have bought it on sale..
Also the blankets at LNT i think were originally 19.99.. but i put 15.00 because that is where we were at when mom said i want this (but she was too cheap..LOL) and i was going to go back and get them untill i seen the add for LNT..

Is this how i am supposed to be doing it?? because if this stuff was not on sale i would not have bought it..

thanks

That sounds right to me. I'm glad you're basing your totals on the sale price and not the regular price. It makes the savings more realistic. Good job so far!

Nice job, Stacy! I don't think there is a wrong or right way to keep your journal, it's very personal. Whatever helps you keep track, inspired, and makes sense to how you shop is great! Congratulations!

You can do it based on sale prices or full price. When I figure my savings I use full price because that is what I would have paid if I was not frugal enough to wait for a sale or use a coupon.

It makes your percentage saved go a little higher but its a bit unrealistic. Like I would NEVER in my life buy a box of Kelloggs corn pops at $4.00 box. We would have bought generic. I also would never pay $100 for a pair of jeans for my teenager. So they way you are journaling your savings is a bit more realistic.

And your doing great BTW keep up the good work!

ok thanks everyone... I am trying to get a little stock pile going and it seems like it is taking for ever..LOL.. And it hasn't even been a month.. this is not all that i have, but since i did not keep a journal for last year i decided to only put thinkgs from this year.. I will never need another can of air freshner or bottle of shampoo... lol

Not to mention toothpaste deodorant, huggies wipes, etc...

I too thought that i was better off putting in the regular price and the on sale price.. both.. of the things i would have bought.. But i just wanted to make sure.. Now i know i am actually sabing money...

Next goal is to make a finance planner.. I have no idea how to accomplish this but am really going to try for next month.. We have literally no saving.. LIke 0.00 ... After hubby got hurt we were broke and things were really falling apart here..

Things were getting better but then hubby changed companies again ( not his fault) and it is the last week of Jan and only a few bills have been paid.. So unless it is free or a really really great deal, there won't be much buying for a while.. thanks to all of yuo.
