Ok - I had problems using a catalina, and wanted to know if I was wrong.
Say I had 10 things and used coupons on 9 of them - is it wrong to use catalinas to pay the balance?
I was told I couldn't use them because I used coupons on the items, and since the catalinas say manufacturers coupon - that I can't use two coupons on an item.
In the past I've had problems using more than one of them at a time as well - even on an order that I didn't use other coupons on. (I know - shame on me)
I guess I never thought of the catalinas as being a manufacturers coupon - but instead $2 off my next order like it states.
Any input is appreciated.
Thanks.
Vicki

Vicki, Let me guess, Shakopee Cub, right! They said the same thing to me one morning recently too. I really got into a discussion with them about it. The CSM said "there are about three of us who have the system figured out"
A couple of weeks ago they also would not let me use the 5.00 malt-o-meal cereal coupon (manufacture coupon) with their cub coupon because they said "it came from another store flyer! and was meant to be used at that store," although it didn't have a store name on it. I really try not to go in there if I don't have to. It feels like they make up the rules for coupons the minute I walk in that door!
I don't have any of those problems at other cubs. LOL -I'm thinking it must be you and Estermo who also have the "system figured out"!

You got it!!!
I was SOOOOOOOO mad when I left there Saturday afternoon it's not even funny!
And if they would have made the comment to me that there are about 3 of us who have the system figured out - I probably would have been pushed over the edge. If utilizing coupons means "figuring out the system" then I guess so.
It's not like I spend nothing on groceries like some people. But I'm really thinking I won't be going there unless I'm desperate. It's a crap shoot if you're going to have a pleasant trip or not.

I go to the Cub in Madison, WI on occassion, but I am by no means a regular visitor there. I have heard made up rules too and have had several problems, even with regular coupons that I have clearly used on the exact right item.
There is one woman at the checkouts who is extremely pleasant to deal with there, unfortunately she is part time, so if I go to Cub it is always on Saturday morning when I know she is working.
You should always be able to use a catalina ONYO, I don't care how many coupons you use on your oder. Have you tried the self-checkouts? At least they don't give you grief.

Well - this particular store doesn't have them. But actually the self-checouts I've been to in Rainbow and Cub - if you use the catalinas you have to have someone override it.

Yeah it's me. Unless someone else feels like they get dirty looks just for walking through the door. For me it started in last August with the Kraft $5 off on your next order deal. I had the cheese peelies and also the free Wheat Thins WYB 3 coupons. I only went in the store two maybe three times for almost a month afterward because I felt so awful.
I have been trying hard to stop whenever I am near another Cub. Being a SAHM it's not that easy, but worth it so I don't have to deal with the attitude and comments that I get most of the time. I'll go in for bread or something else we need, but seldom will go with a fist full of coupons like a couple of months ago.
I keep thinking about writing a email to Cub, but I feel like it would be too hard to explain everything and always wonder where to send it. I am starting to feel like it is discrimination just because they know my face, I'm easy to recognize cause Noah is always with me. I know I could hand Jason or my mom the same coupons and they would be able to walk in and out with no issues. Anyone else feeling the same way?

Something else I was thinking about...
Whenever a clerk tells you she knows you got a coupon out of the competitors ad just say (with a smile):
"Yeah, isn't it nice that Rainbow loses money printing the ad and coupon, but I use it for deals at Cub! It's like free advertising for Cub!"
It actually ticks me off when companies advertise they'll beat any price...sure they will, they don't have to waste money advertising, they can charge a higher price to all the poor schlubs that don't have the time to scan ads, and then have you do all the work finding the best price and come to them so they can do all that work of offering you a better price.
It makes me purposely go to the store that offered the lowest price, to reward them for putting themselves out there.
Now if they offered "If you buy from us, and then see a cheaper price for up to a month after purchase, we will refund you the difference." That's going out on a limb to pull in customers.

If you're that close I would suggest the Eden Prairie Cub and ask for Marie. Very nice lady and shes the CSM there. If you have more than 50 coupons she likes to know up front and will open up a lane for you and check you out herself so there are no problems with your coupons. I've been very pleased with the customer service there.
EDIT to add the best part: They take coupons up to 5 months expired. :BigHand:
