For some reason, the tabs on the DB page disappear when I try to start "HAVE" or "WISH" list. Can anyone tell me what to do? thanks

I love database trading---I only have a small amount of time each day to trade--the database helps by giving me a list of potential people to trade with. I need a specific q-there are x amount of people with these q's. it shows the amount they have -what they need and it's not really time consuming. you just pop in a few minutes each day-Say I need this I noticed you need that or I have this to trade for that --lets trade. The issue that I've been having is I can't get anyone to hardly respond.

yeah along with the data base request its also good to send a pm...for some reason people miss that extra little request at the very botom of the list when the message window pops up..... i missed it the first time!

For me, trading in the database is extremely time comsuming. It can take me a minute or two sometimes just to update the quantity I have on hand. It has taken up to 5 minutes just to load my havelist and then another few minutes to sort it in alphabetical order. And this is with the super fast internet connection we have at work. I've given up trying to use the database on my home computer.

I love the database for maintaining my havelist and wishlist, but not for actual trading. I prefer to trade in PM since PM's are tageed when they are new and you can list everything you want to trade in one message.

I'm sure this question has probably been asked, but I didn't see it in my initial scan of the 30 something pages, so bear with me please.

Is there a way to search other people's have lists for a specific coupon? I see matches under the Trades tab, but it only seems to show one of each coupon type. If that one person has already traded, or does not respond for whatever reason, how can I search for another member with that coupon? Sorry if that's not explained very well.

Is there a way when you open someone's list the top could state a list of often wanted / not wanted catogories: Meds/Pets/Baby/Toddler/Expired it would make trading so much easier.

Also is there a way when you search for an item a list of stores that are using a particular Q that week pop's up... I know there are some other websites that are competitors that have this option and it's really nice for trading.

I am also still confused about catalinas... I have been told they are tradable but it's not something I am seeing in the database.

Also why is there such a delay with the "links supressed" if it's a good deal I usually find myself using google to find it... I have often had it happen by the time the link is approved the print limit has already been reached and the site has pulled the IP.

I really appreciate all the hard work that goes into this site and I really want to stress that because I am sure it's a huge amount of work to deal with the programming aspect/management of the database but I find that often people do not keep their lists up to date (I am guilty as well ) and I think a lot of that is the database is really not user friendly I have been trying to use it for a few months and I still get frustrated with it at times or don't understand parts of how it works. My apologies if this is not the best thread to post this... I didn't really see a place to post wants and desires for trading database :)

If you have the coupon on your wish list when you go to see who has matches if there is more than one person that has that coupon on their have list the matches will show as a drop down menu that shows each person that has the coupon you are looking for and how many of that coupon they have.

We cannot force people to update their lists so if you don't get a response to a trade, move onto another person.

All of these wishes are on my to-do list. After multiple set backs with coders, finances, and other behind the scenes issues we are hoping to get to work on the database soon.

Why is the tab links intermittently broken? Could be just me, but if I try to link to Wishlist or any of the others, the cursor just jumps to the bottom of the screen and never makes the link.

The links appear as simple underlined text at the top of the search parameters and not as links within a paragraph as usual.

Instead of the orange tabs going across the page, it looks like this for me:

Search
Have List
Keep List
Wish List
Trades (actual & potential)

Whenever I click on HL, WL or Trades, the curser jumps to the bottom of the Search page. Its been going on for several days (i reported in the board problems thread) and made a post myself in the trades b/c I couldn't get to anything. I was finally able to get on last night, but this morning, its back to being funky.

We are having some issues with our server and are trying to work on them. We sent a report ticket yesterday and soon after it was read we seemed to be OK. But it is doing the same thing again today and we never got a response back yesterday on our support ticket so we are not sure if they actually did anything or if it was just a fluke. I got the funky header thing yesterday as well although it was not just in the Coupon Database but site wide and I am still having problems myself connecting to HCW and I keep having to refresh my page over and over again.

We think the problem is with our server and are putting in our support tickets with them but unfortunately it is the weekend....

Additionally there are servers down in Canada Details for North America /// Internet Traffic Report (http://www.internettrafficreport.com/namerica.htm) and anyone that lives in the north (like myself up here in Wyoming) their traffic could be going through Canada on it's way to Oregon where HCW's server is located. So it could be HCW's server or a internet traffic problem or both...

Are you also having issues just getting the site to connect sometimes? Are you getting any sort of error messages too?

I am currently trading with a mod in trader in training group. How come her coupons don't show as potential trades for me even though we have matchups. Is it because I am a trader in training and she is a regular trading. Will I not see other peoples matchups until I hit 5?

Nope that would be the case. You should be able to see potential trades for all members (trader in training or trader group) no matter what. Could it be that the mod is not using the database to make her have list?

Yep that was it! She uses both and somethings are not in both.

I like just using the database because it finds the match for you.

I just finished my first trade and have to enroute!

This is going to be addicting!

I love the new coupon database! However, for some reason on my keep list it lists me as having 40 of every coupon. I'm not sure how it happened because I know I definitely only entered 1 or 2 of each one listed. Has anyone else had this problem?

Having a problem with users lists, both the direct link and when using the incoming/outgoing tabs in the database. When I click either, I go to a page saying "what you are looking for is not here". Worked fine last night but can't access them today.

i think the data base is great... and i use it to find match ups for what i need... but it runs excruciatingly slow. i do have dsl , but an older pc . so my question is...i know about paying for the ads to not show... and 10.00 is not that bad for a year.... but my question is has any one done this and noticed a big difference in the pages loading? in the data base... for me its very frustrating to wait and wait ...but if the removal of the ads would significantly improve the speed i would do it in a second! any one? TIA !! :giggle2:

I had been getting this error as well, but then I found a cached page of someone's userlist and noticed that the url was different from the new one being pulled up (I don't speak "computer," so I hope this makes sense). When I want to look up someone's list, I look up the cached page and substitute the usernames and it works just fine.

(make sure to delete the spaces after the http & = ) Then the lists will come up for others.

I wonder what I could be doing wrong...I was trying to enter a coupon from the January 2010 issue of Vegetarian Times, and the database would not let me submit, repeatedly telling me that I needed to enter the Title, month and date of the magazine. I had it entered just like this: Vegetarian Times, January 2010

I also tried enclosing it in parentheses like this: (Vegetarian Times, January 2010) since that's the way the sample magazine title was displayed, but it wouldn't accept that, either. Has anyone else run into this problem? I'm eager to begin contributing to this great community!

That info actually is in the FAQ:



Action: Here you the user can select an action from the drop down menu

Report: This action opens up a new pop up window which allows you to fill out a report on a entry that is in the database that has an error. A member of our coupon database admin team will then fix the entry as needed. When you report a entry as having an error, please follow the instruction on the report form and fill it out so that our staff knows what the problem is with the coupon.

I do want to emphasis that simply clicking Report does not give the staff any information on what needs fixing. Often times when we try to process an entry that an error has been reported, it's not specified what the problem is and we're not always able to guess why it's been reported.

I have inputted new qs in the database indicating I have some to trade and they do show on my havelist but are NOT showing on the potential trades outgoing at all.

Does anyone actually use the potential trade section anymore? I never get any messages there.

Potential trades only show up if there are other members wanting the coupon you have. I can do a double check to see if it is indeed working if you let me know an exact coupon you have on your have list and I can put it on my wishlist and see if it shows up. I personally do not use this feature of the database right now because I am not activly trading coupons (no time)

We are having an issue with the trade lists tabs (have list, wish list, incomming and outgoing trades) when members have a lot of entries to display. Our tech guy is working on fixing the issue with an ETA of about one week. It seems that the script that pulls the data for these pages is timing out trying to load many entries.

So...we are working on getting the issue resolved ASAP but it is going to take a while for our guy to get in there and fix things. I am sorry for the problems.

I click on the description column to change it but it only changes the items originally on the first page. When I go to the second page I find that it's still sorted by descending expiration date, and if I click the description column to get it to change again the page goes back to page 1.:shrug7:

I like the old database. You know, the one where you could do something with it. There are no longer any pop ups to add things to your havelist or to edit your havelist. I tried to add two coupons. It did add them by itself, but put in four as the number. And I can't edit to fix it so it'll have to be deleted. Wasted time and nothing accomplished.

It actually takes longer to load for me now. The 10 items per page is annoying and you have to fix it (which takes forever) each and every time you go to a list.

And it's now in descending order by expiration date. However, the potential trades are still in ascending order.

The database used to be one of the best features here and now it's intolerable. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

it was broke, and we have spent the last month fixing it.

The issues with the adding to your have list/wish list keep list and editing to change quantity in your lists is a bug and we are working on getting it fixed. I apologize for the bug and inconvenience of it all but we are working on it.

We had to take time away from our database redesign project to fix the existing database and this is the best way that we could figure out how to fix the issue by adding pagination to the pages so that we could get back on task of really moving the coupon database forward with better trading features and stuff.

Well, it was working fine for me for weeks right before this. Sure, it took a little while to load, but that didn't bother me. At least I knew it was going to work once it did load.

well it was not loading at all for members so we had to to what we could do to get it load for everyone. If you have 800 items on your have list the server times out trying to load 800 items all on one page, and if you have 800 items on your outgoing trade tab it was having to run multiple server queries to load all of that data on one page. Now it will load and not time out if you have hundreds of coupons on your lists.

The coupon database is still an awesome feature. We have the largest coupon databases with the most user activity on the net. The hotcouponworld database is the first one of it's kind going back to 2005 and we have almost 8000 current, non expired coupons in the coupon database.

If you have a bug to report you may do so in this thread. If you are just going to complain you can send me a PM. I am sorry that you do not like the changes we have made by adding paging so that everyone can use the database but we had to do what we had to do to get the thing working again so that we can move onto bigger and better things.

We are going to put the database back the way it was as the fix for the bugs of the dialog box opening up so you can add coupons to your lists is not going to be an easy fix.

I am finding that when I enter items to my 'have list', stop working on it for awhile, & then go back to it, many of my entries are gone (I just lost more than 30 of them). However, I just became a TNT a couple of days ago so I don't know if this is a "bug" or if I am missing a step in order to save what I've entered. I tried looking in the forums to see if I'm supposing to be saving somehow, but couldn't find anything.

Nikki, here are the steps for adding coupons to your have list

Search the coupon database for the coupon you have (and if it is not already in the coupon database you can add it)

Next to the coupon entry that you wish to add to your have list there is a action column with a drop down menu. Select "Have List" and then a dialog box will appear where you can enter the Quantity of how many of that coupon you have and a note (if you want to add a note, this is not required) and then click "Submit"

You will then see "The item was added to your have list" right next to the page feature near the top.

To check to make sure the coupon was added successfully to your have list go to your "Have List" tab in the coupon database and make sure it is listed there.

Coupon Database - Changes - Please read if you are a Hotcouponworld Trader

We have made some minor changes to the way the various trading tabs work in the coupon database. These changes were made because the database was making too many queries to our server and often timing out for many members that had multiple (500 +) items on either their keep, wish, have lists in the database.

The changes are:

Added pagination (paging to the Have List, Keep List, Wish List, and Incoming and Outgoing trades tabs. The default view is to show 10 results per page, however you have the option to change page to display 10, 25, 50 or 100 results per page. The higher number that you select the longer it will take to load the page.

Default sort view on the Have/Keep/Wish tabs is now alphabetical (a-z), however you can sort the columns however you need to to display what you are looking for in those tabs.

We have done extensive testing on all the various features of the coupon database and everything appears to be working correctly. We have fixed all known bugs that were reported to us last week. However as members use the coupon database they may find a bug. Please report any bugs to me via Private Message or Email (heidi @ Hotcouponworld.com) *without the spaces*. Do not report bugs in the forums.

Thank you for your patience and I hope that the new changes will help ensure that all our traders are able to use the coupon database for trading once again.

I second the suggestion to be able to sort by active trades. My outgoing list is 24 pages and my incoming list is 17. That is an awful lot of loading to to in order to find a notification. Overall, it does load faster now, but sorting by trades would save me even more time.

Right now there is not an easy way to sort the trade tabs by active trades, we tried it but could not get it to work. However we are just trying to make sure that the current database works for everyone so that we can focus our energy, time and money on developing out the next version of the coupon database which will be better and take into account many of the great suggestions made here by you guys.

How do you report duplicate entries in the coupon database? When I click on the report button to the left of a duplicate entry, it gives me what seems to be an option to edit it myself which I'm not sure I should do. I don't see any option to alert a forum moderator.

When you click the report button you will be presented with a dialog box that tells you to fill out the box as if you are correcting it. If you are reporting a duplicate coupon, just note in the description box "DUPLICATE" and we will hunt down the other coupon that it is a duplicate of and merge the two entries together if they are indeed duplicates.

help, i cannot get it to delete coupons when I check them...it will do it the first time, then not again, even if I refresh pages and go back...what do i do? ex: i deleted all thwe ones from 5/16..did fine, then went on to try to delete some i sent out for trades-will not delete i tried refreshing page, nothng..over several times..would not delete them, BUT..will decrease number/edit just fine... finally tried to close page, log back in to do each time...:shrug7: still will not delete coupons I check...

There appears to be a small bug that about 10-12 folks are reporting. We are looking into it. In the meantime you may want to put a note on the coupons you wish to delete that they are gone/traded. Our tech guy is on the case.

thank you for the fast response, i LOVE this site, and tell so many people about it every day....you all are doing a fantastic job, no site has the info you all do....it is indeed a one-stop website for all my couponing needs!!

Just chiming in that I too cannot get my coupons to delete off my have list - once it worked, then never again. I see it has an error on the page, as noted in my bottom toolbar or whatever it is on my browser. I'm glad you're working on it already - thanks a bunch!

Ditto on the not being able to delete. I haven't had any issues at all with the database...until about an hour ago.

Hey everyone we have resolved the bug fix for deleting items from your lists. This should now be working again. If it is not please clear your cache.

However we are still working on the "Check All" option for members lists. So until we have this bug issue fixed you will have to check items off one at a time.

I used the delete feature today in my h/l, and it worked!!! Thanks!!!

Is there a way to sort the h/l or w/l by exp date? That'd make it easier to delete expireds.

You can click the word "expiration" and it will automatically sort for you. :smile:

Why is it I can only find the HL in the forum from yesterday when I last updated it? I use to be able to go back further.

Also why is it when I'm adding q's from the Search page and I know I have some already it treats it like a new item to my list? Which I guess won't matter if I have to re enter all my q's again.

I am sorry for not responding to this sooner. I was trying to investigate what may have happened and unfortunatly I hm not really sure. We did a server reboot on 11/08/10 to resolve some database errors and site slowness however there was a full backup of the site before the reboot. However our tech guys said that IF you were adding coupons at the exact time of the reboot (around 11 AM PAC) that it could have been the reason why some of your coupons could have gone MIA. I am not sure if that is the reason why or not. I have also not heard of any one else having this same issue right now so I am assuming that it was just your list that was affected. There is not a whole lot that can be done to fix it, except to re-enter your coupons again. I am so sorry for the trouble. I understand that is a lot of work.

Not sure why, but I have reported a coupon in the database as having an error twice, and it's not fixed? There is a Suavitel coupon, but it's spelled Suvitel. Am I doing something wrong or is this button "report" not active?

Well it did it again. I went to delete the 1st page of expired q's and it wiped everything out except 1 page. I went from 1800 q's to 100. This is the 2nd time in less than a month and I just can't keep taking the time to enter over 1500 q's on a monthly basis. I no longer know what to do and don't understand why this keeps happening to me and no one else.:hectic::sad3:

When I went to move my expired q's to my Keep List (I no longer delete as I got tired of it wiping all of them out) so I move the 1st page and it takes 5 pages. I tried this 4 times and each time it took 5 pages even though only 1 page is checked. Funny thing is it takes the last page to. Anyone else having these problems I seem to be having?
