I've got a HUGE list of freebie sites on my desktop upstairs, that I'll add here the next time that I fire it up.

Also alot of cross stitch websites (designers, needlework stores and the floss & fiber companies) have a complimentary link on their websites. Off the top of my head, here's a few:

Glory Bee http://www.glorybeestitch.com/index.html
Just Nan http://www.justnan.com/cpimages.html
Kreinik http://www.kreinik.com/kshop/home.php?cat=28
Lizzie*Kate http://www.lizziekate.com/free.html

Tokens and Trifles (http://www.tokensandtrifles.com/inspiration/charts_free.html)

their freebie patterns are hard to negotiate through since the website divides them up by which shape cards they fit, but there's some really cute ones.

The cards are definitely pricey but some of the patterns you should be able to use on regular aida cloth or linen/evenweave fabrics or even perforated paper. I've bought a couple of the cards and used them for Christmas ornaments and they looked great when they were finished!
