I'm hoping a few of you can tell me what the sales tax percentage is on the bottom of your receipts.
Please include the city and county of the store you shopped at.
Thanks.

6.75% St. Anthony MN, I think this is Anoka county (Cub)

Shakopee, Scott County has a sales tax of 6.5%, but it isn't charged on most food.

I still have a hard time telling what is taxed and what is not taxed.

From my understanding (which could be wrong.. I frequently am) "essential" foods like milk and bread are not taxed, but "non-essential" like pop and chips are taxed.

Green Bay, WI (Brown Co) has a 5.5% sales tax. (the extra .5% is to pay for the Packers stadium, otherwise the rest of the state is 5%)

Food items generally are not taxed in Wisconsin, except for popcorn, candy, chocolate, chocolate-coated ice cream novelties, hot deli food, and soda. Everything else that you can't eat has a tax.

For MN, food in general is not supposed to be taxed. There are quite a few rules and exceptions that go along with that, but that's the easiest way to put it. JeniG seems to have it down that pop, chips and stuff like that have tax, but bread, cereal, meat, fruit and things like that are tax free.
