How many points do you have? What are your tricks for getting the most points? Do you cash out all along or save up for stuff? I normally just do the click-thru emails but over Christmas we did a good bit of shopping online and I racked up points that way. We just bought a TV and I got 4800 points just for that!

Ebay pays also, 2 pts per dollar. Just another way to make those little purchases pay off eventually!

I haven't been through all the 'redeem' merchants, but so far the lowest point value I've seen that you can cash in for is 750 points. That's a $5 Panera card.

I do know that you'll get a bunch more emails to read if you check that you're interested in EVERYTHING on the profile page.

If you're in the market for printer cartridges, you might try 123inkjet.com (I think that's it) from the mypoints page. I think there are some decent freebies w/purchase and of course you get points too.

LOL....I just check my account and my points earned since being a member is 38,529 and I've been a member since 11/11/05. I've made several large purchases at Overstock.com and Target.com which both earn 10 points per dollar. One purchase at Overstock was for 2 chairs @ approx 200 bucks each. That's 4000 points right there. It certainly adds up!

I currently have 2881 points. I usually redeem for $25 BBW or LNT GCs. I figure I get the most bang for my buck that way since I always use the GCs to pay for my BBW purchases and I always either use BBW coupons or shop their semi-annual sales. At LNT, I just roll their rebates. I actually turned a profit this year by using a LNT GC to buy a Euro-pro fryer that had a $25 LNT GC rebate, then using THAT rebate GC to buy a Black & Decker toaster oven that had a $25 MIR. Got 2 nice appliances plus money back in the end... mind you it was a S-L-O-W roll, taking several months to complete!

My profile says I've been a member since 3/14/00 with 31481 total points earned. I mostly do e-mail click throughs. I do a little bit of shopping. I get e-mail surveys too.

When you sign up for mypoints, you complete a profile. They use the profile to determine what you might be interested in, and what emails they should send to you.

When you click on the emails from them, you get 5 points for reading them and going to the site they promote. HTH!

I have 1170 in points.

I keep forgetting to use it to shop through ebay, missed out on a lot of points that way.

I've been a member for a long, long time, so I think my total is just under 100,000 points, I've got over 10,000 waiting for me to decide what kind of GC I want.

I do A LOT of shopping through mypoints, most of my fave stores participate, and I shop on ebay a lot and go through mypoints. I've checked all the interests and usually get 5 - 10 emails from them a day, do the surveys, etc.

I think the key is to remember to check there before you do any online shopping (or whichever other program you use...most of the same merchants participate in all the various programs - upromise, clubmom, etc.)

I've got a little over 1000 points. I'm impatient...can't wait long enough for larger rewards (plus I'm paranoid that they'll shut the program down, so many have gone down the drain over the years I've done rewards program. I think Mypoints is the only one I started with that I'm still doing. I've just started redeeming mine for $10.00 CVS cards, and roll them into my purchases along with my ECB's.

My tip: There should be a link on the site to update your profile or answer personal questionnaires or something (I think if you log in to view your account you'll see the links if you haven't already answered them). They give 5 points each for completing them. Plus, there's one on prefrences and if you tell them you want emails on every topic possible, you'll get several each day, each one worth a 5 point click-thru, which means it's pretty easy to accumulate 1500 points (and thus a $10.00 GC). The last time I redeemed points was early December, I think, and I've almost earned another.

Go to your account and see if you can modify your preferences. You might not have checked off enough items that you are interested in. I checked EVERYTHING so I'd get emails from everything.

My current balance is like 1400 pts.... I just ordered a $50 Target card on Monday though. My history is 145,450 points, member since 1999.

My tricks for racking up.... I have their credit card. I use the credit card for everything and then pay it off each month. Plus I travel alot for my job and use that card too. Plus, if you use it on mypoints.com purchases (Target, Overstock, 123inkjets, etc) the points are doubled.

If I need something from Circuit City, Best Buy or Office Depot, I always order online, then pick up at the store.

I always order thru 123inkjets.... it's the cheapest I've found so far and is an easy 750 pts.

i've been a member since 5/2000, and my account says my total is 183,164 WOW, i had no idea it was that much!! i save mine up enough to get $50 kmart cards, although occasionally we do $25 olive garden or $25 rainforest cafe. hubby has been a member since 4/2003 and his total was 49,570. i've calculated it out and find that if i wait to get the $50 kmart card instead of doing $10 target or walmart or $25 kmart, i maximize my points. when i figured it out, to do 5 $10 walmart cards comes to 7,500 points. by doing $50 at kmart, i only spend 6,500 (i think it's 6,500) to get $50 free shopping ......so i make myself wait, to get the best bang for my points. last summer, hubby and i each got $25 rain forest cafe and took the adult kids out for dinner. we all loved it, though the $50 didn't go too far with the prices there, lol. we still ended up paying over $30 out of pocket for dinner, yikes!!

Wow....thanks so much for this thread. I did sign up a few weeks ago and at first I was just overwhelmed with the gazillion emails in my inbox and junkmail box. Now I have a little better handle on it.

I so appreciate the tip for ordering then picking up at the store. I always consider how much shipping is on stuff and wonder sometimes if it is worth it to order online just to get points. Now I see how.

I remember the good old days . . . I jumped on the bandwagon a little late in the game with the point programs but still had fun. I remember living in my little studio apartment and every Saturday morning doing the Talk City polls for points . . . There were ways to earn lots of points without spending money . . . Of course time has changed and with the dot com bubble burst things will never be the same . . . I still earn points by clicking through emails and now by doing market research surveys they send out. I don't shop much through their portal because I prefer to shop through Upromise when possible and I prefer to use my Amazon.com credit card to earn gift certificates there although I did just recently see that they now offer Amazon.com gift certificates as a reward option at My Points.

I recently cashed out for a $50 Target card and a $50 CVS card. I used the Target one during the big 75% off sale which was cool.

I really remember all the fun that I had with point programs. Beenz was cool searching for all of the Beenz icons. Of course there was Freeride which I understand is still around. I remember looking for the 50 point hitchhikers on the bus. I also did really well with Greenpoints when you could sign up for free offers. Now it is so much harder and with work and a two year old I don't do as much but every bit helps.

You get them as soon as you sign up (within a couple of days). Then you can cancel as soon as you get your points.They normally charge something like $1 -- then the real charges don't start until the trial period is over.

I tend to get $10 gift cards. Yes, it makes more sense to get larger ones, but I tend to get restaurant gift cards for when we're travelling. If I get large ones, then sometimes we go overboard. (Oh let's get dessert and the expensive meal.) If I get a $10 one, throw in a coupon, I tend to be more frugal with it. :)

Oooo I love Mypoints! I just love that I can get points just for reading an e-mail. I recently bought flowers through the website and got 500 points. )Although it takes about a month to have the points credited to my account so I don't have the points yet.) The thing I DO NOT like about them is that they have Shop by Category & Redeem Popular Awards but, they do not have "Shop by Points". For example they should break down the categories by points for example 1,000 points, 10,000 points etc. so you can shop according to how many points you have racked up!!!

Cool! Fellow Mypointers! lol I haven't found a lot that have used it. When I try to tell others about it to join, they figure there's some kind of catch. I have always gotten my giftcards really quickly. I use them for my son's birthday and his Christmas gifts. I'm new to couponing, but have discovered I can get also get points for using coupons printed off of MyPoints! So added bonuses. (Not to mention they can go towards Upromise too at certain stores, so even better! And, of course, getting a great deal!)

I used to redeem for Target GC's but now I do CVS so I can practice my mad couponing skills there and see how long $50 will last!! I rarely, if ever, shop through this portal. I did get a big boost when I applied for the MyPoints Visa credit card. I think I got 3,800 points or something like that after the first use of the card. I have a $25 Walgreens GC on the way and got a $25 CVS card last month. Back when I first joined, you could get Hilton Hotel points. I redeemed for a lot of those before they took them out of stock.

I get about 6-8 bonus emails a day, and for some reason qualify for all the surveys. Also, I do any and all major purchases for my family and some friends. This past year, I have bought 5 memory foam mattresses, 1 computer, a washer dryer set, a chest freezer, and outdoor shed, 2 digital cameras, and bunches of other little things...

I am the come to person when someone is looking for a deal. I guess everyone thinks I don;t have enough to do..LOL :whistle:

My dh and I both have MyPoints accounts. Just cashed in points on both of them this past weekend for $50 @ Kohls, $50 @ Lowes, 2 - $25 @ Panera, $25 @ Walmart. My dh travels, so the food cards and Walmart are for him. Kohl's is for back-to-school clothes. Lowe's is for winterizing supplies.

I have the emails going to my Yahoo account. I have it filtered where all the MyPoints emails go to a specific folder. About 2x a week (sometimes more), I will go through and do the click through emails. While the vendor page is loading up, I can minimize it (or throw it to the other monitor) and go to the next email. Get about 50+ points at a time. I have a couple of stores that I shop regularly through My Points.

Or, if I'm going to be buying somewhere else, I always check MyPoints, UPromise, and Memomail to see if that store is a participating store.

I always forget about mypoints. I am going to start doing better. I had 1800 points or so and cashed out for a $10 GC to Walgreens.

I use Swagbucks for that and I’m able to redeem for Amazon cards a lot quicker, you just have to be careful not to over use it or they’ll close your account.

we ordered Dish through them when we decided to get it. Otherwise, I just do emails & print the smart source Q's. (I print the coupons.com Q's at Quick Rewards - get .01 per coupon redeemed).

Before I do any online shopping, I usually check evreward. It lists cash back % at various reward programs and I pick the highest one I participate in. It seems My Points is usually very low compared to others. Don't get me wrong - I really like My Points - I just try to get the most bang for my buck.

The last few years I've saved up the points all year long and cash them in around the end of November for GC's to give as Christmas gifts to my niece and nephews. They're all teens/young adults so they love getting clothing and fast food GC's. :)

Anytime I get a bonus email for ebay I add the link to my favorites so that I can just click thru the link whenever I order coupons or whatever. Even those small purchases add up.

I also order at least one Entertainment Book thru them every year (as long as it has Kroger coupons in it, I don't use enough of the others to make it worth it) and also order my contact lenses thru 1-800 contacts. I can't do the cheap ink anymore since getting an HP printer, it didn't last even as third as long as the real ink so it wasn't a bargain at all.

I make a couple of odds and ends purchases here and there during the year, but aside from printing the grocery coupons, the rest of my points come thru the emails. Only takes a couple of seconds to click and let the page load.

Saving up right now for maybe a WM gift card but sometimes I transfer the money from our cash budget and then use the gc for grocery and put the cash in the bank. I LOOOOOOVVVVEEEE MyPoints! I stumbled onto this site many years ago, and to date it is still going strong! They used to have alot more options for earning points without having to make purchases, but I do alot of online shopping anyways so it helps. Like someone else mentioned, I purchase through the online site and then pick up in store for stores such as Best Buy and Office Depot.

The best vendors I have found are Barnes and Noble and Target. They used to both give 10pts per dollar. They recently changed the Target guidelines but because I'm going back to school, I use B&N to get all my textbooks. It racks up quickly. I'm trying to be good and save up for birthday and Christmas presents.

It has been almost a month and they have not acknowledged even getting the returned card. When I email customer service they just say that once they get the returned card I will get my points returned to my account in 4-6 weeks. Their customer service is CRAPPY!

If you want to get them here in time for Christmas, I'd go ahead and cash in now and know that they *might not* get here in time (but they probably will). I generally try to cash in by the last week of October if I'm going to use the gc's as Christmas gifts so I don't have to sweat it those last couple of weeks.

Points - I cashed in for two $25 Shell cards for my nephews a few weeks ago and have just enough points again for a $25 Gap card for my neice. We have to push Christmas with my family off a couple of weeks due to work/family schedules so that'll work out just right for me.

I do the clickthru emails, print out coupons (check each week for new ones) and do a little bit of online shopping thru them.

A hint about the coupons - if there's good diaper, wipes, or formula coupons on there, go ahead and print them out even if you yourself won't use them. Then either offer them for trade, or play coupon fairy and leave them in the store next to the product. You'll be helping someone out and getting the points for using the coupons. :wavehi:

I have a computer, but I don't have the right software to print coupons, so I can't do that. I do e-mail clickthroughs. I've been a member since 1999, and I've found the only way to really earn points it to purchase through their website. For November, they gave a 50% points bonus and most of December it was 100% bonus on purchases from qualifying vendors. I typically let mine build until about September, then redeem for gift cards, so I have them to go shopping starting in November.

I have 8,945 points...all of which I earned last month from "buying" magazines from magazines.com. They sent me and email a few years ago with a $5 gc inside. So I used that on a $5 magazine subscription and later they sent me another $5 gc and an offer to send $5 gc's to 5 of my friends and if they used their cards, then I would get a $10 gc for each of the gc's that were redeemed. This year, over Christmas, with the 100% bonus points offer from my points, for every subscription you could get as much as 1000 points. So I didn't pay anything out of pocket, I'll be getting myself $60 in gc's and DH and I will have lots of fine magazines to read for A LONG time. :)

I sometimes do sign ups or order thru mypoints. Normally, I just do emails. If I get an email that interests me, I will do it. If I plan to order something online, I check to see if I can get mypoints, before I place it. I also, always search for a coupon for that website, too.

I get a bit overwhelmed at the amount of sites online similar to this. I use Swagbucks for searching and printing coupons and ebates for shopping online. Is Mypoints better for these? And I only have 794 points. :(

I've been wondering the same thing tori729...I love swagbucks and only know about mypoints b/c of bzzagent-but none of my points in my mypoints account that I've earned thru bzzagent even show up, so I wondered how worth it it was to even look into this;-(

I've been a member since '05 with a total earned of ~30,000 points. I like to get them by clicking through the emails they send, printing off coupons, and buying stuff through them online. Although lately, I've started using Ebates more... depends on what I buy.

-Click on the e-mails (if you're not getting e-mails or want more-update your profile questions, the e-mails will start up again/increase-as long as you opt in for the catagories.)
-ALWAYS try the survey invites-if you don't qualify, it's still 10 points-the invites also seem to increase if you start answering the surveys
-Go to the home page and look at the right for questions to answer-at least a couple of times a week, there will be multiples to click.
-print coupons based on who pays the most-but all of the sites that I know of only re-imburse up to a max # of coupons redeemed-so I usually change sites throughout the month to maximize my rewards.
-Check Mypoints vs E-Bates vs Inboxdollars vs Swagbucks to see which gives the most $$$$$ for any special offers or purchases.
Example: I won 2 free months of Netflix through an Instant Win Game. Before redeeming the prize, I checked out all of the above sites for the best deal on a free trial. (You can't qualify for a free trial after you've joined for the 1st time.) The best was Swagbucks-1000 SB's equals $10 Amazon plus 100 SB toward another 450 Swagbucks = $5 Amazon GC-30 days free trial. The other sites offered 14 day free trials and/or required you to pay for a month after the free trial in order to receive the reward. So, I won 2 free months of Netflix, have a third month free and have been paid over $10 Amazon-Sweet!

I noticed that the redemption values have gone up again-now it's 1700/1750 points for most $10 GC's. CVS GC's are my normal redemption-last year I cashed out for $85 CVS and saved $1586 per the CVS receipt at year's end-I ONLY spent the GC's from Mypoints and one $5 one that I earned on a survey-still had $3 on a GC to start this year. Roll those ECB's, roll.

Glad that I didn't decide to save up for a $25 GC-although since the price increase has gone through not, I'll probably save up for a larger GC tjos time.
