Has your Ingles done something wrong :grouch2: or not let you use a coupon when you know it was a legitimate deal? :banghead:

Let your stress go here! :mad83:

Yep. I had all my Sara Lee, ball park q's all figured out. I had $1 off 2 ball park franks, plus one that said $2.00 off beef wyb (wish I knew where that one came from), free bread wyb, free buns wyb, $3.00 watermelon wyb. They let me use all my q's which I got 6 ball parks, 3 buns, 2 bread, 2 watermelon. However, they wouldn't let me get both watermelon. I could only get one.

They tried pulling the one per purchase explanation. I tried to explain it right back. Then he switched to well, it's only one per customer. I showed him on the coupon what it said, he wouldn't budge. Rather than argue with him about it I just had him take one of them off.

I have a large family and could have used 2 watermelons. Plus, I didn't really want to pay $2 a pack for ball park, but I thought with the free buns, etc. It would even out. At this point, I'm not sure. Maybe I should just wait until a bogo and use them then.

:mad20:This is my horrible, terrible, no good very bad Ingles experience....

I am so mad! And that is rather an accomplishment for me as I rarely get angry. But I'm just so flaming mad right now! This was planned to be my first really big couponing trip. I ordered coupons, got them all lined up and raced to the store as soon as the mail came in with them today. I had twenty coupons for 40 boxes of free rice, 17 coupons for free frozen veggies and 10 coupons for fifty cent pasta. The cashier handed me back 2 of my 47 coupons and said they wouldn't go through. I was fine with that, willing to eat two coupons to get everything else. Basically I'm a weenie when it comes to confrontation. Everything went fine except for the rice. The cashier said everything was right when I questioned the thirty some odd dollar total and I couldn't figure out what was wrong, so being spineless, I paid and went and sat on the bench out front. Over the course of my cigarette and staring at the receipt....I figured out the problem. They had charged me a DOLLAR a BOX for the fifty cent w/o a coupon rice!!!! How, I have no idea. I steeled my courage and went back in.

I talked to the manager who proceeded to tell me that they couldn't pay me to buy the rice. I could not use a coupon that exceeded the price of the rice. This went on for quite some time until I finally got him to understand the rice would be free. The coupons did not exceed the price of the product. He honestly did not understand why I wanted them to pay me to buy rice. I repeatedly told him that fifty cents for one and one dollar off of two did not make them pay me to buy the rice.

We finally got that settled and he informed me that I couldn't use coupons like that with an advantage card sale?!?!?!?! Never mind the 17 free bags of frozen veggies on the same receipt that he must not have noticed? This went on for a bit before he said that this one time he would fix it for me but not again. If I tried again we would have to go through this whole process again and he could not do that for me again. And I'm thinking what exactly is he doing for me that is so hard to understand? These weren't even doubling coupons or anything tricking. He said that they would have to keep my receipt to do a void and I (not even thinking about getting a copy of it at the time....grrrrrrrr!) said okay. So he keeps my receipt and hands me $10.80. Which is half of what they owe me. They overcharged me fifty cents each on forty boxes of rice. I guess they were tired of dealing with me. They told me that was all they could do for me. Something about the amount on the receipt wouldn't let them do anything more. And that was that. What the heck? So they've made ten dollars and some odd cents off of me that is rightfully mine? And I don't even have a flipping receipt to prove it?

I tried calling customer service and couldn't get through to anyone so I left my contact information on their machine. But I am just so flaming mad that it's not even funny. Does this happen often? I'm rather on the new side and still learning but my nerves are completely shot for the night now. UGH!

Did you get the Green Giant Steamers? I noticed a few of the stores messed up the stacking of vegetables. They had the butter corn mixed in with the niblet corn.Niblets corn is 1.00 the butter corn cost 2.00. check to make sure you got the right ones.I got a couple of wrong bags, thank goodness I seen it before I checked out.
Niblet corn & peas were the only 1.00 bags.

Yup. I double checked those and asked an employee to make sure since it was kind of confusing how they had them. They went through just fine. It was just the rice that was all bummed up. I was thrilled with the corn though. My family loves it!

I got 15 boxes of the pasta and they scanned through fine at 50c! then i gave the coupons and i got them for free and just paid tax.... I wonder if he was telling you that you couldnt use your card with coupons for the simple fact that without your card you would be charged $1.00 or $1.** and you wouldnt get them for free? I dont know..... but i have 3 family members working there, and another used to, and they dont do me any favors! They just get ready at the register when i come in lol
I ALWAYS have coupons. I hate that you had a bad time but you should of got the rice for free. I got 20 boxes altogether. I used the same coupons and my advantage card.... no problem!!

I went the other day to pick up a few things. My total was $33.06 (after coupons). So, being that it was over $30 (more like $50 before the free turkey) I should have been able to double 9 coupons up to $.50 each, right? I looked over my receipt when I got home and this just didn't happen. I used (2) .50 q's and (1) .40 q that doubled. My last .50 q did not double and I cannot figure out why? The q's were all for different products and none were ip's.

I'm worrying about this now with triples coming up.

I haven't tried shopping at ingles ever since I asked their policy on coupons and they told me they will accept and double 3 coupons for every ten dollars spent. I told them "What?" I have not gone back since. The whole point is to save not buy to save.

Ingles is the ONLY grocery store that we have that doubles coupons. We only have a super walmart and a piggly wiggly, and one very small grocery store that triples the price of everything, so most of my shopping is done at Ingles. I hate walmarts meats so I buy all of my meat at ingles. This helps run my total up. I also only use Q's for things on sale for the most part because Unless an item is on sale it's usually cheaper at walmart even with the Q doubled. I see so many great deals people are getting at publix and kroger and I would love it if we had one closer. :)

I wrote a letter to Ingles about there coupon policy that went like this:

I just wanted to comment/complain about the rigid coupon policy that you guys adhere to. Because of this policy, I do NOT frequent your store because there are MANY other stores in my area with better coupon policies than yours. To be more competitive, have you considered changing the policy to better compete with other grocery stores? I shop the deals at all of my stores and I find it very inconvenient to have to spend a certain amount of money to double my coupons. Plus, it seems as if your staff wants to try very hard to prevent me from getting good deals even though your store is still making profit!!
I appreciate that you do triple coupon weeks, however, the $10 per 3 coupons limit makes it VERY hard to find good deals!
As long as the coupon policy stays the same, Ingles will be my least-frequented grocery store in my area.

And here is the canned response I got:

Ingles has been doubling coupons far longer than most of other grocery stores. We double each week, and triple occasionally. We feel this should provide customers ample opportunity to use their coupons to the maximum advantage. We appreciate your comments and thanks for contacting us.

If at all possible, I am never setting foot in their store again. :mad20: :hot3: :mad19:

I haven't had a bad experience, but after reading their coupon policy I am definitely NOT going to frequent there. I will only go there once/month for meats and that's it.

I'll stick with my Kroger, their friendly cashiers, and their unlimited doubling.

Calling corporate again today and swearing off shopping at Ingles again. I didn't shop at Ingles for months because of the hassle and I'm doing it again. Saturday a pimple faced too young assistant manager at the Duncan, SC store would only take one coupon per transaction. I had to stand there and do many transactions to get all my deals and I am finished playing their game. The other stores in my area are way more friendly and want my business so I will shop there.
