Hi, this should help, it's from the FAQ's:
How Do I Create A Hyperlink In My Post? FAQ #012 <Reading And Posting Messages<How Do I Create A Hyperlink In My Post?

A hyperlink is a link that includes user specified text. A common use of a hyperlink at Hot Coupon World is a link to a members wish-list or have-list in that members signature.

To create a hyperlink follow these steps:

In either your post message box or edit signature box begin with typing out the word or words that you wish for your link to say. For example type out the words " My Wish-List"
With your cursor highlight the words you just typed out.
Then click the Code Button http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/images/editor/createlink.gifto insert a link.
In the pop-up box that appears paste the URL (website address or link) to the location that you wish to create a link to.
Click "OK"Now your words "My Wish-List" will be created into a hyperlink that looks like this: My Wish-List (http://hotcouponworld.com/). You can add additional formatting to your hyperlink by highlighting the link and using bold, italics, fonts, sizes, and color code buttons.

I was going to add a few quotes I like to my signature line, but it only allows 4 lines. Do you have to have a certain number of posts or have a certain status to add more? TIA!

Our members are limited to 4 lines in their siggy. (Our mods are allowed a few extra lines though, so that might be why you've seen some larger ones.)

What links are allowed in your signature?

May I place links to my HCW auction and current trades?

TIA

sbp

Any HCW links, whether it's to a current auction or your trade list or a RAOK post, or whatever can be included in your siggy.

It's the links that go to any other website that need to be approved before they are added to your siggy.

I see that you have already added a smilie to your signature <this one

But I also see that you are trying to add a smilie that does not come from Hotcouponworld. The only images that members are allowed in thier signatures are HCW smilies. You can not use smilies from other websites, tickers, or other pictures. This rule is in effect so that siglines take up less space and pages load faster (we hope).

OK this is what you do. Go to the place in your userCP where you edit your signature

Type in MY WISH LIST and then highlight that text with your mouse.

Then click the
http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/images_hcw/editor/createlink.gif
icon and a pop up window will open up that looks like this:
1921

Where it says http:// enter the URL (link) to your wishlist

The URL to YOUR wishlist is: http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/wish-lists-seeking-coupons-actuals-trade/148303-frogins-wish-list.html

Then click "OK" on the pop up box and now the you have a hyperlink that looks like this MY WISH LIST (http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/wish-lists-seeking-coupons-actuals-trade/148303-frogins-wish-list.html)

Do the same for your Have List if you have one using the URL for your have list.

If you still need help LMK and I can add it for you but I would rather teach you how to do it yourself first if I can.

I have a ton of coupons to list as giveaways, but I can't figure out how to do it.

I also have two wishlist items, but I can't figure out how to do that, either.

I know the answer must be here SOMEWHERE, but a search didn't pull anything up.

Thanks!

Hi VivC,

To begin in order to trade or give away coupons (RAOK) here at HCW you must first join the Trader In Training (TNT) group, after a while you will graduate to the Trader Group.

To learn more about how to join the TNT group please visit this link: Join the Coupon Trader Group (http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/view.php?pg=join_the_trader_group)

Once you have joined and are approved by one of our trader mods you will then be able to post in our trading forums (excluding Auctions and Secret Pals, maybe trains...I forget LOL)

As a member of the TNT and/Trader group you will then have access to trading tools within the coupon database if you would like to. And here we have created a way to easily create a have list and/or wish list (as well as a keep list!)

And you can learn more about how those feature work by visiting this link: How to Use the Coupon Database (http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/view.php?pg=using_coupon_database)

and if you have any questions about how these features work in the coupon database please feel free to ask either here in this forum or send me a PM and I would be happy to help.

If you wish to do a Have list but not use the Coupon Database, you might have better luck by reading and posting your questions in the Trader In Training forum.

You don't have to make a clickable link, but it is the easiest way for people to find your list. Here's what you do:

First, go the your wishlist thread and copy the address at the top of the page.
Then go to your user CP and choose the edit signature function.
When your siggie box pops up, type in what you want your link to say using whatever color/size/type of font you want.
Then highlight it all.
Next, click on that globe icon underneath the smilie icon. A hyperlink box will pop up.
Then you erase whatever is in the URL box and paste the link you copied in it.
Then hit OK and your clickable link should now be in your siggy. HTH!

Just reread the OP and I now wonder if it's the same procedure for database wish lists. So I might've just told you what you already know. If so, sorry! I don't know about the database wish lists.

I am getting lost between these two steps...As you can see I did my HAVE but my WISH list but I can't figure out!!!! :hectic1:

Then highlight it all.
Next, click on that globe icon underneath the smilie icon. A hyperlink box will pop up.

gctattoo
12-28-2008, 05:18:34 AM
It should be the same way as the have list.

Okay, you've written and highlighted "wish list", right? See that icon up there with all the choices of smilies, colors, etc.? If you click on it, the little box that says hyperlink will pop up. Did you erase the http: or whatever that comes up automatically in the box? Once you've done that and pasted your wish list addy in there, it should be fine. I don't know why it wouldn't work.

Maybe this is what's wrong: You need to keep the words highlighted while you do the globe hyperlink step. Whatever is highlighted will become your clickable link.

Need help bringing up the user havelist section in the Coupon Database. I don't want to create one; I want to search for any trader having the coupon I need. Every time I try, it brings up a window of the Coupon Database past the normal database of coupons, but consistently locks up my computer. What gives?

Update:

I was able to bring up the list of users with all the links to their lists. Now, however in tarnation (sp?) am I supposed to globally search everybody's haves for a coupon I need? I understand how to perform the action in the havelist forum, but have not a good idea if it is even possible under this system.

The only way to do that is to put the q in your wishlist and then go to the trades tab and look at that q in the incoming trades and it will show you everyone who has that q listed in their havelist.

You need to do it the same way you did your h/l lol. Open up your w/l, copy the URL address, go to edit siggy, highlight the My Wishlist part of your siggy line, click on the globe with the link at the bottom, and paste the URL that you copied in the pop up window, click ok and you are all set. You can pm me if you have anymore trouble with it and I will see if I can help you with it.

I finally made my have list in a post format. I went to the thread, then clicked on "search this thread" then put in a word that I know is on the have list.

It searched and says it's not there!!!

I tried this with other people's have lists too, shows it's not there??

Search not working, or am I doing something wrong??

tacatcon
07-09-2009, 03:19:57 AM
Well if it's a common word or less than 4 letters it won't search for it. But if you open up the post and use ctrl key + f you can type the word you're looking for in the search box that pops up. That is if you're on a PC using IE, not sure it works in all browsers. If the thread is many pages though, it will only search the page showing

Yup, you can go to EDIT>FIND in almost every browser and search for the specific word. It goes well with short names like A1 and the sort.

Thanks for both of your suggestions.

I tried multiple words, not just short/common words.

The searching using the browser you guys talk about works, but I'm thinking ...if I"m a board user and searching someone have list for a coupon I need, and it comes up "not there" I would go onto the next have list, right?

So the search is not working correctly, right?

This should help. I copied and pasted from a PM I still had from being a TNT.

Creating a link to your list(s) in to your siggy.
This is key as it allows members to easily access your lists when trading with you.

Here is how:

Open up your wish list (there are several places to find your list so read below)
copy the web address in the browser window.
Go to your user cp
click the edit signature link
Give your link a name in the text box.
Highlight the name and click the hyperink icon. (Looks like a globe w/ 2 links in a chain under it). Insert the previously copied wishlist page info into the hyperlink box and click ok. DONE!
You can link to the database version of your list OR you can link to your lists that you posted in the forum. There are pro's and cons to each, go with what is going to work best for you.

If you choose to link to the database version of the list:
The pros are that you never have to update your sig link and they are tabbed together so only 1 sig link is needed.

The con is the notes I just mentioned above where you can type store and coupon info do not show up because the db lists only coupons.

A common mistake is to copy the web URL that appears when you are in your wishlist area of the database. This is actaully your work area and only you can see it.
You can find your own personal database list by opening the wishlist or havelist tab in the database. There are a few paragraphs of info listed along with your lists. One of the sentences says Your lists are shared for others to see at ____ and the link to your list is next. Click it. Then copy the URL/Web adress of the page that appears. You will use this link as your siggy link if you want to link to your database list.

If you choose to link to the list in the forums:

The pro is that you have a link to your post with all of your notes so traders will see whatever you typed whether it be info about stores, doubling etc.

The con is that each time you hit update post, the old list is replaced with the new one, creating a new URL. You have to remember to update your siggy link.

Each time you hit update, your new forum page does pop up for you so you can copy the web address and edit your siggy, but not everyone wants that extra step.

You would also need 2 siggy links. One for wishlist and one for havelist.

If you decide you would like to link to your forum list, you can get the URL/web address of you page when you "update post".
