I'm using Firefox 3.0.5. I don't have the grey tabs across the top for Home, Forums, Blogs, Groups, Chats, FAQ, Articles, Resources, or Shop.

Search is not working for me. Not sure if its firefox or Ubuntu. But every time I try to search the forums for stuff I get a blank white page that thinks its done. I can leave it there for an hour and nothing ever comes up. If I search in a thread its fine, but the search at the top bar for the entire forum does squat.

If I think about it I'll check on the windows/firefox computer but it sucks as I don't use that much.

I'm in tears of frustration, been trying for weeks to print from smart source. I even downloaded firefox, tried upgrading to ie8 I turned off all my security so I had 0 protection and I still cannot print from smart source. I emailed them and after several back and forth replies they told me "sorry sometimes people just can't print from our site" Tried on my husband computer and my daughters too. still nothing.
Can anyone help me?

You are right. The search in the orange bar is not working, but the search at the very top of the page works just fine. I will need to look into.

Sometime in the last few weeks, forum search has stopped working for me (both 'quick' or Advanced). When I click on "Go" or "Search Now" the next page is blank (URL is www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/search.php?do=process).

On FF, the loading indicator stopped. I gave it several more minutes to see if results would pop up, but no change.

On IE, that page says "The page cannot be displayed" {addl. verbiage} "HTTP 500 - Internal server error Internet Explorer"

Well i clicked on the link with my screen name and it says member has not created a list. Well when i go back to add more it will come up but the link doesnt work, How can i get it to work?

This probably isn't the correct forum, but anyway...a while ago I was posting in a thread and when I went to change the font and color, a different "menu" appeared. It was more of a long one instead of the normal box naming the colors instead of just the colors themselves appearing. It's back to normal now. Was someone playing with features? :giggle2: I actually like the different way.

Someone once told me that when the list is over a year old, you can't edit it anymore. Copy and paste to make a new one and then ask mod. to erase your old one. HTH!

there are normally three choices for editing, WYSIWYG, non WYSIWYG and a hybrid of the two. My guess is your default is WYSIWYG and it was switched to the non WYSIWYG.

Sorry, couldn't find a forum to post this in, so I'm posting it here. Is anyone else having a problem with the way HCW loads? Usually the posts load right under the "Featured Sponsor" bar. HCW is always pretty slow to load anyway, but I can tell when it's loading because the posts start showing up directly under the bar. Lately however, I wait and wait and then realize that it has already loaded and there's a big grey gap between the bar and posts and I have to scroll way down to start reading.

The posts usually begin where the "Sponsor Link" to the left leaves off, so I'm assuming that there's some kind of problem in the formatting. I wanted to see if others had this problem or if it was just my computer.

Same problem here too. I've also been getting a lot of: this page is unavailable there are several reasons etc. etc. I thought that it was an issue with Verizon (we switched not too long ago).

Yes, I get the network timeout too. I thought it might be my router, but I don't know now. I keep disconnecting and reconnecting and it's frustrating as well. I wonder if it's some kind of virus/worm?

Yeah, I admit that immediately after posting this, I haven't seen that gap and it's loading faster. However, I've still had a few network timeouts, but not as close together. Weird...

I thought that was just me & my older PC. And recently I've been unable to load the database for some (not all) users to prep train envelopes. Has the database been working OK for you? Just wondering if it's my cable access (or my PC).

And the problem the OP mentioned, yes, although it seems to be a little better today. I assumed that it had something to do with coding a fixed size rather than a scale size & would eventually be corrected.

The last couple days the Mark Forums Read menu option has been acting up. I click it, and it takes me to a screen that says, "Invalid Forum specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator (http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/sendmessage.php)". It does not mark the forums. If I click it a second time, from that screen, it does what it is supposed to do. Firefox 3.0.8

I havn't had to sign in again. But when I read a post, then use the back button it doesn't have the the last page I looked at. It only has HCW header & the ads only. I then have to refresh the page. It's not a big deal but I've never had to do that before.

I am having an issue with replying to PM and pages in the Forums. I am using Internet Explorer. I just started having this trouble this week. When I try to reply to a PM I get a blank page. I'll go back to my list of messages and the next time I can reply. Then when I am searching the forums I have a simular issue. I might click on a new forum or a new page in the forum and all I can see is the Forum navagation at the top and under that the featured sponcer block. It's blank from there down. I found I can click refresh and it will bring me to the page I was looking for. It happens alot. Any ideas ? Is it me or the board ? I'm not real computer savy.

after FF uploaded some updates, I've had issues with logging in. previously, I didn't have to log in if I didn't sign out but for a week now, I always have to log in each time and even with correct passwords, I can't get in a few times. I'm inclined to think the issue is with FF updates? help!

I paid for a no ad subscription this week. According to my user CP, I'm a no-ad member as of 04/22/09. However, I'm still seeing all of the ads.

I am attaching a screenshot of the site, taken about ten seconds ago, so you can see what I mean.

It takes forever to load the pages, clutters everything up, and I really need this taken care of asap. If it can't be taken care of, then I'd appreciate a refund to my paypal account.

Then theres this huge writing towards the top that says, Hot Coupon World & the thread contents but it's way out of size context to the rest of the page.

I think I'm either having problems sending or receiving PM's. I've sent a few PM's within the past 2-3 weeks regarding trades, and I haven't gotten an answer back. I'm not sure if the people aren't receiving my PM's or if they are responding and I'm not getting them. There have been alot of problems lately with things not loading right. Yesterday I hit refresh 12 times before giving up and logging off. I kept having to use the scroll bar on the bottom to be able to read a thread or post.

I didn't realize there was a "Report a Problem" thread and asked if others in the Giant Eagle forum were seeing big areas of gray blank screen at the top of their pages. Often times the pages appear like that and we have to scroll down to view the threads.

In the Giant Eagle forum you will see my post and the responses from others having the same problem.

Also, from time to time the database gets stuck and doesn't work for me.

I found the problem to my having to scoll sideways to read.
It's the Cranenergy ad at the top of the page. Every time it's there, the page never fits and the cranenergy ad is stretched outside the ad box which stretches the whole page.
Yippee!! At least I know the culprit for my "page won't fit problem"...not that I can solve it or anything but at least my perseverance to figure it out worked.

I didn't know where to put this one, but it seems I can't seem to get HCW to work on Mozilla. I had to switch to Chrome browser. The only thing that I can get to come up is the background, but no forums. Anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions?

Firefox is fine for me.
Though I have been hearing that people are having trouble with Version 3.
I am still using version 2.
So...if you still have version 2 floating around ... I would just reinstall that one, and let them work out the bugs in version 3.

I need to update mine, but when I click on the "have list" tab, it works for a few seconds then tells me there is a script running and if it keeps running IE may become unresponsive. I'm having an issue with using breadcrumbs to get back to where I was, so far this is only happening in Current Trades but I have had similar issues before.

For the last day or two when I try to come here, all that loads is the background and ad sponsors. I have to reload about 5-6 times and then it MIGHT come up if I'm lucky. This is the ONLY website I ever have trouble with and it gets frustrating. It takes the longest to load and posts are sometimes in the correct place or sometimes I have to scroll way down to view them. This is also the most rewarding and informative website so I have a love/hate relationship here. LOVE the deals, people, information; HATE the format and slowness of it. It's almost as frustrating as trying to print a bricks coupon LOL!

pages are so wide I have to scroll side to side way more than other sites, IE seems fine.

Having issues with the search feature. When I search in Firefox 3.5, the page will reload to show just the header, but no search results. In IE Tab, Says Page Cannot Be Displayed. Same as in IE6.

I don't know if this will help you or not. But I've noticed recently that I can only put one word at a time in the search box. So, if I'm looking for Bumblebee tuna....I only put Bumblebee (I also try just Bumble) in the search. If I put both words, I get the blank page too.

I find its easier to try one specific word, but usually words that are 3 letters or less or a string of words (like what you tried) don't work. Brings up the blank page you are referring.

If you are looking for a specific answer to any CVS questions, go to the main forum. Then click on Need a Hand. There is a sticky for FAQ's.

For your question though, ECBs do have an expiration date, 30 days from the date it prints. However, and this is YMMV (your miles may vary), some stores do take expired ECBs within a few days, even up to a month. Best to ask the store manager. If you find yourself in a pickle with an ecb about to expire and nothing to roll it on, use it on something you need, like milk, eggs or even diapers.

the search feature that comes with our software is not that great. It works OK on a smaller forum, but with the sheer number of new posts and threads it just can't handle it.

It does not handle phrases or questions, and it also cannot search on 3 letter words or less. So searching for ECB or CVS won't work. If you have a store specific question it is always a good idea to search the stickies in that stores forum, and if you can't find your answer, feel free to post it in the forum and someone will help you find the answer.

Hopefully someday we will be able to get HCW a better working search feature and I am sorry about how it works right now.

You can subscribe to a forum and get email notifications when new posts are made/threads are created. But as far as being notified when a post containing a certain keyword is made in a particular forum, no. Is that what you were asking?

My take on some of the problems lately is...
Mark is away in Iraq and he was the one who fixed the technical things wrong around here. With that in mind, I've not let it bother me anymore. Same problem here since Saturday. I had been using IE as my browser. On Sunday nite, I DL'd Safari and am now using that browser. I can now stay on the hotcouponworld site, but I still get a very quick flash of that google page before I get to the page in HCW that I want to see.

It's gotta be a HCW issue because I'm not experiencing this problem anywhere but here.

We have found out what the redirect problem is, there is a problem with one of the ad networks that we use Burst Media is throwing some sort of wonkiness, not just on HCW but on other sites that are using their ads as well. We will be pulling the ads shortly as soon as our guy wakes up and reads his email.

On another note, yesterday we got our first batch of private message spam. While we have things in place to prevent some of the spam that is out there, it does sneak through from time to time and we had one yesterday sending some weird creepy quote about love and a link to some funky/spammy site. We banned the spammer as soon as we found out about it of course as we have a zero tollerance policy for spam.

We do not think the two issues are related.

I will post to this thread when the burst ad stuff has been removed and hopefully that will fix the problem.

We pulled the Burst Media ads until they fixed the issue on their end. They have since resolved whatever the problem was and we have gone ahead and put them back on now. The problem was something on Burst Medias side of the equation. It happens sometimes.

We are aware of this issue, and it will be resolved when we load the new stuff that we are working on. Right now the new stuff is being tested and tweaked before it goes live.

Am I the only one that the HCW website has been dragging and lagging and slow for the past few days? I've been trying to respond to PMs and read them etc etc… and some moments, it's really great and fine, and then others - it's spinning that loading circle for me for minutes at a time. Our lone little tech guy reports to us that there is a server in Georgia that is down completely and one in California that is running really slow. Internet traffic can go through these servers even if you are no where near them and this can cause a delay.

You should see a little bit faster load time. We went ahead and got a bump on our servers as we were seeing some high traffic that was indeed causing a slow in our load time.

There is still going to be some wonkiness where the page loads down under this big box where the ads are, it happens from time to time and for certain members and this issue will be corrected with some new design stuff we are working on.

But I am noticing a much faster load time myself and I hope you all will too.

I am experiencing a HUGE gap now (to the bottom of the left side adverstising block) above my threads in certain categories. I haven't checked to see if it is consistent between categories, ie: user CP, Acme, Shoprite, or if it is only consistent when certain ads pop up on the top, ie: adobe flash vs others or such.

I am using Firefox on this computer. Will check Opera later on my other.

Isn't there a subforum or thread for technical problems with the HCW website and/or coupon database? I can't find it. Can a mod link me up and also merge this post into the appropriate thread?

I'm having two problems here with how the HCW pages are loading.

Problem #1: There is huge blank space on the pages between Featured Sponsors and the top of the threads, requiring a lot of scroll down to get to the thread. This is happening for me on every page, and I don't know if the problem is with my computer or the HCW web site. Please let me know.

Problem #1: When I tried to use the Coupon Database 9/1/09 around 4:05 and 4:10pm, I got a pop-up message saying something about the Coupon Database having a JSON error. After I clicked either OK or close on that message, the page finished loading, but did not load properly and was very messed up. Again, don't know if it's my computer or the HCW web site. Please let me know.

The Coupon Database Error only happened those two times I stated, and doesn't seem to be a problem now (knock on wood!).

But the "huge blank space that requires major scroll down to get to the thread" problem is still happening sporadically. AND it sounds very similar to Siageah's "huge gap above threads" problem. I forgot to add this is occuring in IE 6.

Is anybody else having this same issue? And can forum mods and/or tech administrator shed some light on whether this is probably a problem on my end or HCW's end? If this issue is not due to something that's off with HCW's website, but something that's off with my computer, I'd like to know asap so I can try to fix whatever I need to fix on my computer. well we don't have a tech administrator... it's just Julie and I and we have to defer to someone we hire to do side tech work since Mark, Julie's husband is in Iraq...and he used to handle all the tech junk.

Database errors...we don't know what causes the Json error message. But it usually goes away...so if you get it, the only thing we can suggest is to try it again later. We are quite up front that we are not the most tech savvy gals on the planet and frankly the dude we hired to work on the database the last go-around left us HIGH and DRY with no support. We are in the process again...of hiring a new coder.

The space on the side. It is a known issue and again something that we are working on. We are working with somone right now that will be bringing HCW a new facelift and better navigation and just a smoother running site and this issue will be fixed then. In the meantime we don't really know why this is happening, or how to fix it. You just have to scroll...

Sorry that this makes us look really unprofessional and it is fustrating to us just as much as you guys. But please remember that we are couponers and moms and this whole website/tech stuff thing is something we are constantly learning how to do.

Yes, that's what she means. Just copy the info from your existing list into a new post and then paste it into a new thread, making whatever changes needed.

And then once that's done, don't forget to update your signature!!

Ditto. I had no problem using Safari to access the dbase earlier, but when I tried a few mins ago, nothing happens when I click on potential trades. The tabs aren't there, they are just listed underneath each other as a link :shrug7:

We are having some issues with our server and are trying to work on them. We sent a report ticket yesterday and soon after it was read we seemed to be OK. But it is doing the same thing again today and we never got a response back yesterday on our support ticket so we are not sure if they actually did anything or if it was just a fluke. I got the funky header thing yesterday as well although it was not just in the Coupon Database but site wide and I am still having problems myself connecting to HCW and I keep having to refresh my page over and over again.

You need to create a new list.

Start a new thread, c&p your old list into it, then flag the old one for deletion.

Once a post is a year old, it is no longer editable.

This has been an intermitten error that we are aware of and have yet to figure out how to fix it. We are aware of it but don't know how to fix it just yet. Right now the only thing you can do is scroll down the page....

We are trying to figure it out but don't know what is causing that to happen sometimes, while other times it loads just fine.

I could very well be a Java issue as we sometimes get JSON errors reported to us in the coupon database. We are working on it but work is slow.

That is really good to know. Perhaps others that are having that issue can do the same too. I never see these Java errors myself so don't always know what to tell folks other than to try resetting their cookie for the site. Over in the coupon resouces forum there is some info about what browsers are compliant with the database and what not.

Hang in there guys we ARE trying to work on these issues, but remember Julie and I don't have a tech background so sometimes progress is slow.

The box on the right hand side that contained your UserCP was removed as well as a few other boxes while some of them were moved to the left side of the page.

You can still access your UserCP via the link that has always been there at the top of the page in the orange toolbar (first link on the left in the orange toolbar)

I am not sure where your have list would have gone. We did not do anything to the coupon database that would cause it to just go away. Are you sure you clicked your have list tab and not your keep list tab? Or could you have accidentally deleted the items from it?

If it really is not there anymore...shoot me a PM and I will see what I can do but I don't have access to your guys lists.

That option is under your UserCP under Edit Options (http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/profile.php?do=editoptions). There you can choose to get a pop up upon new PM's (if this is already set to do this make sure pop ups are allowed for HCW on your browser)

Nope this is not something new to HCW. It has been here since day one and the default setting is set to enable the pop-up when you get a new PM. Some folks like to turn it off. Could be an update with something on your computer that was blocking the pop-up perhaps. The question is...are you getting your pop-ups now, do you need me to send you a test PM?

I know in order to enable the pop-up I had to allow pop-ups on this site with my browsers. We don't have any other pop-ups so it is safe to allow them for the site.

If you go to the left of your screen on the orange bar click where it says User CP. Scroll down and at the bottom of the User CP page it should show all your reps.

I was searching on Angel Food to see if anyone else uses them and how they use them. If I searched on one word, the search worked. But if I did both words, I got a white page. I tried in IE and got an internal server error page.

To be frank the search engine that comes with our software is not very powerful or effective. It is OK for a smaller site with not so many posts and threads as HCW has. It does not do very well on searching for very common words.

I am not really sure how to help you here because you are indeed correct if you search for the word "Angel" you get results but if you search "Angel Food" you get the blank white page. Other than trying to narrow your results by using the advanced search feature and selecting the forums you think a discussion might be in (not the deal forums, but perhaps the talk it up forum).

Our server crashed for a moment today due to higher traffic than normal. We have bumped up our server for more bandwidth and that should resolve the issue. Not sure just yet where all the traffic is coming from yet...

Hi there is a known issue right now. The best way you can still try to find people's wishlists or havelists is to look in the fourm. If you search (use advanced search) by name you can find ones by member name. Of course only people who updated to the forums from the coupon database and people who created one manually will be found there. But hopefully the glitch will be fixed soon!

Problem is, we're trying rebuild the thing cause we know the current one has errors in the code, and yet the guys looking at the current one are struggling to find those errors. Second, I have noticed if I have a duplicate coupon in my wishlist, if I check one to delete, both will delete! Is there anyway to fix it?

Yeah I'm finding doing trades is getting harder. I alot of traders don't know you can access lists if posted in the forums. Hopefully this will be fixed soon. :smile:

Actually in theory you shouldnt have 2. Its not a huge deal if you do but I will try to explain.
We rolled out the database as a way to create lists more easily, once you do it, you click "update post" in the WL and/or HL tab. Then you add in all the notes you like to have in your list, about stores, doubling IP's, coupons you always need etc.
Once you hit save, the list goes into the forum and replaces the old one in the forum. One list, one place.

its not the end of the world if you have both, but not many members only check the WL & HL forums to make trades so if you do not have everything in there, you could be missing trades.

Please, everyone check your siggy lines. If you have this link, for some reason it gives the 'what you're looking for isn't here' error -

take a minute to change it to this link:

(make sure to delete the spaces after the http & = ) Then the lists will come up for others.

Or you can link your HL/WL from the dbase to the Have Lists forum. When you go to each tab (HL or WL), there's a box that says 'update post' Click on that and another box comes up for you to enter info (what you're ISO, stores you shop, etc) Once you enter, it will take you to that page with a new link. When you edit your siggy, you can copy/paste that new link (or hyperlink it). The only downside is that every time you make changes (add or delete items) you will get a new link when you update post. So you need to remember to copy that link and change your siggy line.
If you have a general post in the HL/WL forum, once you update post, the dbase link will override those other posts and you can't get them back.

Not sure about the landscape problem. Have not heard of anyone having that problem. I don't even know what landscape would look like. If you can explain or show me a screenshot I would be happy to research it for you and see if I can help.

The script that checks for duplicate coupons in your wishlist/have list does not work properly. It is addressed over in the coupon resources forum. If you are checking your lists for duplicate entries, if you delete one it will delete them both. So you will need to go find that entry in the coupon database and add it back to your list. It is on my list of things to fix. But to be honest..I have no one on staff to fix it just yet...we are working on it. I know it feels like I have been saying that forever...sorry.

New Posts link is cookie based. If you logged off HCW it will delete the cookie from your computer, or if you otherwise cleared your cookies it will remove the new posts from the cashe. If that happens you can try the "Todays Posts" under the quick links to see what has been posted today....

I'm not sure how to do a screen shot, but basically it stretches way across the screen and you have scroll across to see everything. It didn't always do that, just recently.

I did figure out the duplicate entries through trial and error, lol. I didn't come across it in the resources forum, my apologies.

I haven't logged off recently, just close out. I just noticed it starting yesterday and it did it again today. Basically it starts with the posts that are updated once I am on the site. I will check out the today's post link! I didn't know that existed!

OK so your screen is not actually been turned to landscape mode (like if you were printing a picture)...darn cause I know how to fix that. LOL

Try ctrl+alt+the up arrow key (go to the database first) and see if that helps.

If not try it with the down arrow key too...

If not LMK...

I'm having problems with the Benevia add. If you get any where near it with your cursor it pop down screen appears or it takes you to there websites. If tried using Firefox & Safari & it happens with both. I'm trying to add things to my HL etc. & I can't. Because the add blocks me...
