Just wait........the flower will fall off as the Zucc grows. If everything goes well you should see somthing in about a week.!!!!

The flowers are the only reason I grow zuccini!! They are great sauteed or stuffed with mozzarella cheese and procuttio ham, dipped in egg wash, rolled in bread crumbs and fried in olive oil - serve with warm marinara to dip in - glorified mozzarella sticks.

I did zucchini this year and was having the same problem....not sure if you have any by now, but what I did was hand polinate the male and female flowers with a q-tip.....dip in one than the other.....had good luck and only did it a few times......now they are off on their own :)

I am paintbrush pollinating my tomatoes. There was a news bit on bee shortage, that suggested plants may not yield many fruit this year to this. Like crazybmb said though, you should see them, it seems zucchini flowers are there forever before you see the veg form.

The flowers are the zucchini's. As the zucchini grows, the flowers will shrivel up and die off.

Wow! Thanks for sharing about the flowers. Go figure that one. Must be a REAL old-time Italian receipe. Gee, nothing goes to waste.

I wish I can try it, though. Sounds real yummy! Hey, where do you live??? LOL.

Perhaps, but not till it is below 75 there. You are more than welcome to come back up my way to New Hampshire. Be glad to cook for you.

A bit of hand pollinating should do the trick, mine got off to a slow start this year and I've always done this with my pumpkins. Works wonders with the shortage of pollinating insects.

And make sure you have both female blossoms (with a bulge on the stem end which will become the zucchini) and male blossoms. One year I had a crazy butternut squash that ONLY gave me male blossoms!

I just got back from vacation and have some very large zucchinis. We are considering hollowing them out to make canoes for the children.
