I would be interested in seeing a forum only for potluck trades. People could post I am looking for a potluck trade, and delete the post when they have traded. OR it could be limited to 5 PL's per post?

LOL - no, it's what comes from Constant contact though - we might be able to pull the URL and make it a link, so that's really good feedback.

Now that we have a new look, we are going to go in to constant contact and create new ones that will more match the site.

Want a job as the newletter mod????:hysterical:

I think incorporating the new graphics into the newsletter would be great!! :)

I just noticed that if I am reading a thread I no longer can just click on the link that use to be uptop that would take me to that forum directly. Now I have to go back all the way to the main forum page and search the forum I was reading to read any other threads. It's more time consuming this new way.

I miss the thread line above the first post so I can tell what stores it is referring to.

Sometimes when we find a great deal, we don't post what store it is from in the post since we linked it from the store link.

I hope I make sense!

Example the SKIPPY peanut butter:

the old way, I would have been able to scroll to the top post and find out it is in TARGET

the new way, the thread line is not above the first post. I have to read (AND PRAY) the deal is at a store that is in my area.

smichino, you suggestion is similar to mine. I just found that if you look at the lower right corner you will see what forum you are in. I had missed this drop down menu ("Forum jump") before. May I suggest now that it is given more prominence within the page? It is very los in the lower right corner of the webpage.

I would like to make a few more suggestions:

1. I already stated this, but I still feel it is greatly needed; especially with the new-redesign. Overall, I think the new redesign is a huge improvement. However, the forums now seem a little crowded. This really isn't a problem in most of the forums because usually only the top 10 posts (if that) are "new" since I last visited. So, these are the only ones I need see/focus on. However, this isn't the case with the Auctions forums. There are SOOO many auctions lately and I feel that they need divided up someone. I think subforums would be a great way to do it. By dividing them up into categories, I think it would make the auctions forum less overwhelming.

While we have no intentions at this point to make subforums for the auctions we do have something in the works...so give us a few weeks to get that going.

What would be your suggestions if we were going to sub-forum that forum (not that we are, just asking)

And Julie already addressed some of the newsletter stuff...but wanted to say that yes...we are planning on updating our newsletter templates to match the new re-design. I don't have a problem with gmail myself and our newsletters. The database newsletter is usually too long and I have to open it in a new window. But that is a gmail thing. I don't know how to get that much information in the newsletter without it being a mile long.:shrug7:

I'm excited to see what is in the works for the auction. I'm really up for anything that will make it easier to navigate. I only suggested sub-forums b/c it would probably be the easiest to implement.

I was just thinking maybe having categories. Baby, Food, HBA, Non-Food/HBA, Pet

Something along those lines.

As for the newsletter, I'm excited to see the new format. :)

Here is how it displays in my gmail account:

Notice how it is cut off on the right side. This has happened to me on all the newsletters. I have to horizontally scroll. (Which is NO fun!)

I hope I'm posting this in the right area, but would it be possible to have a forum for Food Pyramid? It's the chain that purchased most of the Albertson's in Oklahoma. I have gotten some great deals there and 1) want to share them with others & 2) want a place to brag about it, lol!

Thanks!

How about a "Thrift Store Jungles" forum? Do we already have one and I don't know it?
It'd be nice to announce sales, have a sticky for FAQ/store info.
Heck, I could handle being MOD for it.

We have a separate thread for Requesting new store forums to be added here at this link (http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/frequently-asked-questions/poll-384-a.html).

Food Pyramid is one of the choices in the poll, and Thrift Store Jungles isn't in the poll yet, but we can add it to the poll and see if there's enough interest. In the meantime, you can post any deals you find in the Other Grocery Stores subforum. (http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/other-grocery-stores/)

I'm sorry if this has been posted, but 7 pages of requests is too much for me tonight...

I would love to be able to sort my inbox by other parameters than date (alpha would be great) I know that I can search for a persons pm's, but it would be great to see more than one at a time

It would also be wonderful if, within the new cool stuff... that box on the side of our usercp, that shows our friends and allows us to pm them, it would be AWESOME if it would somehow also tell us if they are online.

Lastly (for now...) within the Itrader area, when giving feedback, the options are buyer/seller/trade. I would LOVE to see RAOK within that. Sometimes it's difficult, based on wording, to see that a newbies few feedback are from sending an raok, or an actual trade... If we could tell that 5 of the 6 fb are from an raok, that would be extremely helpful in trading.

Thanks for listening!!!

I would love to see the time in each zone somewhere in the auction forum. So many times I have to post to see what my exact time is.
Then I have to calculate pacific or eastern.
Yeah should be simple to calculate it, but I am a screw up.

or maybe in the user cp with another members suggestion below.

I've come to your rescue!! I use this WONDERFUL online conversion, that quickly and easily tells me the current time in each zone at once, and doesn't require the usual plugins. I have the same issues, not knowing if the auction has ended, 'cause I don't know my mountains from my central and how many hours backwards or forwards to either, or the rest for that matter!!! I know PST!!! I did pm the auction mods about perhaps making it a sticky, and they said they'd discuss it...

Here is the site, for your convenience.

ROFL - well that explains why I couldn't find anything on Thrift Store Jungles when I googled it last night!! :hysterical:

We already have a sticky in the brags thread for Thrift Store finds (although it is lumped with yard sale etc finds too) - since merchandise completely from location to location, day by day, I'm not sure why we would need a completely separate forum.

I really am not sure how to word this without getting flamed by auctioneers.
On the main page for new posts, it is overwhelming trying to find posts that are other than auctions lately. There are soooo many going on nowdays that its almost impossible to find the non-auction posts in between the auction posts. I understand I can just go straight to the forums I want but it was so nice to be able to just hit new posts and see what all was going on. (even in the forums I don't frequent or have stores for, I've been able to help people in them just by seeing whats going on)

I have looked and looked for good coupon sites... I live in an area where in my SS I might be lucky to get 5 coupons for actual products! If I need checks or porcalin dolls I'm set:nah1:

I paid to have some shipped to me via a web site ____ nameless at this time b/c I don't know if I can say?

Has anyone found a good coupon clipper site that is reasonable?

The one I used was a minimum of $3.00 which is understandable I guess but the shipping was astronomical!!

Would it be possible to have a feed on who has had what luck w/ blank___.com ordering sites?

If anyone has any good ones they use PLEASE let me know! :beg2:

Go to the bottom of the page. There's a section called Useful Links on the right-hand side. There's a link there for Abbrevations, Acronyms & Coupon Terms (http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/view.php?pg=abbreviations_acronyms_terms).

Hi I was wondering if there could be a camping forum? We just recently went and it would be nice to have a resource. Things like different camping places, best rates, any coupons or special promotions. Also maybe campfire or other camping stove recipies, tips and tricks to make things easier or cheaper and maybe even sales or coupons for camping foods, like marshmellows, hotdogs, etc. Not sure if you would want something like this but I think a lot more people are trying to do cheaper things and its a fun way to enjoy your family time. Thank you for reading amber41.

I would post here... but I cant read the rules and probably would get warned or issued an infraction.

PS It took me forever to realize that NAZ meant name/address/zip

the mods only issue warnings and infractions when they absolutely have to. It is part of what they do on the board as mods, not a fun part. It keeps this free site of almost 70,000 members in great working order and all the members on the same page.

So, if you have a great idea, share it!!

My only way of staying up to date with the posts at HCW is to subscribe to individual category RSS feeds...ie, CVS, Rite Aid, Price Chopper, etc.

But...I also subscribe to the "New Posts" feed. Currently there is no way to tell what store or what category the new post is in reference to. Ie...new post title: "Save $5 on Kellogg's" - the post reads something like "this week only, save $5 on Kelloggs...PopTarts are $2.00 each"

Based on the above example, there is no way for me to tell (quickly and with just a glance) what store (or category) that post is referring to.

Would it be possible to add that feature?? It would be a HUGE help!!

It would be nice if from the "new posts" page we could see the date each thread started. You can see at a glance when the last new post was, but you have to click on the thread if you want to know how old it is. In a forum where stuff quickly becomes outdated like it does here, this would be helpful.

When someone wants to add a coupon to the database, and the click on 'add'...it shows the boxes for the assorted bits of information to be entered.
A lot of people might not understand that you can click on the title of each box "Description" etc, and a little pop-up will open with instructions.
My suggestion is that along with 'Description" it says "click here for a pop-up with directions for wording". That would get people used to understanding the format for entering coupons with the product name first.

I think it would be great if there were some kind of "mentor" program. Pair up a newbie with a veteran couponer. Just a forum for us to find each other is all we would need.

Another idea is a general forum for free stuff and moneymakers from stores--like free after ECB or FAR. I know that one can go the the CVS forum and the Walgreens etc. and find that info but one nice consolidated list would be so fun. I just get so sidetracked when I start looking around on here.

We use to have an "Adopt A Newbie" program but is was closed earlier this year. As the site membership grew it was impossible to maintain a task of that undertaking. Myself & another Super Mod co-modded the forum together pairing newbies with coaches/mentors & the amount of work / time that had to be spent was very over whelming to say the least as it needed our constant attention. We now have over 100,000 members & the task would now be even greater / impossible to say the least.

For the stores that you would like help in I recommend that you visit that forum & post & ask questions. We have a special forum set up just for newbies when you can ask you non store specific questions Getting Started ~ Couponing Basics for the Newbie - Hot Coupon World (http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/getting-started-couponing-basics-newbie/) Also, you could post here looking for others in your area that may be available to help: Couponers Across the World - Hot Coupon World (http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/couponers-across-world/)

As far as a special forum for store specific frees, etc.; from experience having info scattered about the board makes it even more confusing & difficult to see the whole picture so to speak. The store forum mods do an excellent job listing the best deals available for each week with coupon match ups & they also include other pertinent info.

Could we have a forum that deals with consumer rights and laws? Sometimes I see something brought up in discussion in an individual store thread, but it would be nice to have one section to look things up for reference. It could deal with things like: being overcharged, what you should or should not be taxed on, links to government sites that mention consumer laws that could be printed to bring with you to a store you are having problems with, who to file a complaint with for such things as not getting a rebate, if a store overcharges on a regular basis or if a store constantly sells outdated items, and lists for free legal advice for general questions (the local Bar Association in my area has free call ins once a month). Maybe you could have a main forum for national and sub-forums for states or regions and another sub-forum for other than US.

With the coupons (trading) I have a couple of questions/suggestions. Just by luck I happened to see that I had an outgoing "something". I am not sure where I even saw it! Anyway, it was for someone interested in trading. The date was 11/13/08 & she left a comment. But, 13 days later & I just now saw it. (I'm on HCW EVERY day) Is there a way to get a message so that we know someone is interested? I looked in settings & couldn't find anything to change... maybe I missed it though.

Also, I went to view what was in her "have's list" and most of them were expired, so I stopped looking. I didn't see a way to sort them. Is there a way? Or could it be set up to remove the expired coupons automatically? I was hoping on them being removed for us. hehe I checked on mine when I knew some were expiring & deleted them. I'm glad I am not one that has a bunch of them!

And.. last but not least, I agree with TheWoman on seeing the date that a post was started.

There is not a message that you will get when you have a new trade comment, but if you look up at the top of the page where it says Welcome, yourusername there is a drop down message that says that you have notifications, here you will see PM's, trade messages, and other notifications as well.

Here is a snapshot I took to let you know what to be looking for:
http://content.screencast.com/users/hotcouponworld/folders/Jing/media/d15f8413-50f0-4db5-946c-30506883c634/2008-10-22_0814.png

As far as expireds go, each member is responsible for culling the expireds from their lists if they so choose to do so. Some people save them for trading with those that can use expired coupons. I will note in my list of wants for the database the ability for members to sort each others lists. I have a long list, and been really busy lately and working on another project so as soon as that is done we will get to work on the database stuff.
Eliminate "Hot Under the Collar" except for when it pertains

Aw, everyone just LOVES the HUTC forums! I know that the topics in there can get hot and heavy, but we want people to be able to debate and have an off topic forum. While there has been conversations amongst the mods about pulling politics and religion as a no-no topic I think in the end as long as members can be civil to one another and help self police those hot topics all is fine. Of course, if a topic bothers you, just don't read it. Besides sometimes the Hot topics are more fun than another "The cashier was an idiot threads" LOL

Just touching on what Heidi has already mentioned.

I set them up each year as individual forums on purpose so they stand out & are more visible. A short time after a particular Holiday has passed I make them a subforum like all the other forums are set up.

As time passes & each Holiday has come & gone they will all be subforums & moved to the Archive. If you view now you will see that 3 are now not in the forefront but are subforums. Tomorrow Cyber Monday will also be a subforum leaving only the Christmas Forums in the forefront.

Would it be possible to be able to customize the smilies that are in the box next to where we type our posts? I don't use too many of those, and it's a hassle to wait for the long list of smilies to pop up, and then to try to find the one I want (yes, I am impatient :giggle2:).

seen on a rival site.... LOL wasnt sure I would be able to post it. LOL. Has a cool feature that is called My smiley's. It lets you pick your top favorite smilies to put on the side of your reply box. Do we have this? I didn't think we did but please LMK if we do. If we don't I want to suggest this because I use a lot of the same ones but I have to go through and wait for the list to come up every time because I cannot remember the exact symbol.

how funny even using different spelling they caught me... OOps. Even odder that the request right before mine was for the same thing. Sorry. I didnt read anyone elses posts before posting.

I would like to see a separate forum to post rebate forms for ISO or H or N. I sometimes miss them since they are in with the coupon trades.

I was just coming to post this request. I would like to see a thread for trading MIR'S as well. I often miss them in the trade forum.

We have something that we will hopefully get added next year. It isn't the personal customization but it is something that will separate the smilies so they can be pulled up by category instead of all at one time.

Eliminate "Hot Under the Collar" except for when it pertains
to...couponing.

I would agree with this.

Sometimes I post my opinion on there, but the other day I got an infraction? for asking another member to not "hijack the thread" :shrug7: The warning said that I "flamed or insulted someone" which I never did. I am waiting for a response as I disagree with the warning I got. I believe if you want an off topic forum then you shouldn't try to ban people for posting their opinions. it would be cool if this was just a coupon site. Maybe we can tell members about other political or religious message boards. IMHO we should focus on what we have in common here on HCW rather than what seperates us. I like this site because I can see all of the future ads. I am still new to this so I don't know of any other place to go to find future ads.

At this time we have no plans of adding state or region forums due to the cross posting that would need to happen. We like the deals sorted by store. But what we can do (and have done) is subdivide store forums by region. For example we had a request for Albertsons NW and SW regions. All you need to do is ask for a subforum for your store and I would be happy to add it. It is helpfull if someone says they want to mod it too so that it just is not sitting there empty. You dont have to mod it, we just dont want to create a forum and find that there is no activity in it. As long as members post thier deals we are OK with that.

I would really love to have an option to turn off certain forums from showing on my new posts list.... for example I dont have a kroger, giant eagle, etc nearby... so I am not really interested in seeing the threads for those forums, and sometimes seeing the great deals at stores I dont have makes me really sad :frown: It would be a lot easier to find the great deals that apply to me if I could stop them from popping up so I only have to sort through the ones that do.... but I could still go to those store forums in the other list (the forums list broken down by drug store, grocery store, etc....) in the case that I am going to travel and want to see the deals there?

hope this makes sense....

It would be nice to be able to select forums to ignore when you hit the "new posts" buton so that new posts from those forums don't show up. I would ignore all the stores that I don't have around me and cut the number of threads to look through in half.

i think it would be nice if in the rebates forum we could have sub forums for how much the rebate is worth. Like group them together by value: 0-5$, 5-10$ 10-20$ and so forth....That would make it easier for those people who are looking for certain rebates that they know are out there and know the value of the rebate, but need a link or info. Or for those that are trying to do more high value rebates...

I haven't read the first 31 pages to see if my idea has been posted previously or not so forgive me if it has.

I would like to receive an e-mail or more prominent notification of trading transactions. (similar to the notification of a PM) IMHO the current notification doesn't stand out enough and if someone doesn't visit the site frequently they may miss a trade request. It has happened to me several times already and I feel terrible every time.

Is there a thread anywhere where a person can ask about sales and coupons on specific products. For example, I would like to know what was the best deal you ever saw on Olay moisturizers and facial cleansers and Loreal foundation. All I ever see are BOGO at 50% off. Do they ever run better deals than that? When and Where?

We actually just finished an auction for a no-kill cat shelter and many of us donate to our local food banks.

If you have any questions about HCW, please don't hesitate to shoot me a pm, and I'll be more than glad to help out ;)

Have fun. :smile77:

I have a question, which might be a suggestion depending on what the answer is.

Is there a way to download our database lists into excel? I know I can copy/paste each column, but can become time consuming depending on how many pages of coupons one has.

I'm new to HCW and just learning about all the wonderful resources here, and I'm in awe of the coupon database. I'm an excel geek so I've been tracking all my coupon lists and spending in a spreadsheet, but now that I'm on this forum I'd like to also utilize the database here because it's SO inclusive...so, I guess that's my suggestion (unless it exists and I haven't found it)...to be able to export or download our own personal lists into a spreadsheet.

Thanks for such a useful site-- :thanks7:

Would it be possible to allow users to put a short personal statement at the top of their database lists?

It is very frustrating to spend an hour going through lists, making sure I have what they need and they have what I need...only to find out later when I PM them that they are on trading break, in the middle of a move, or haven't updated their lists in months and no longer have/need anything on their lists.

When we did the lists the old way, users could update their status in their sig lines...ie: "on trading break right now" so I knew not to bother. But the database...who knows when it was last updated or what their status is.

Maybe users could update things like "not trading now" or "wishlist last updated 05/22/09" or something like that. I really think it would make the database system a lot less frustrating to use.

It would be nice if/when any thread is made in a specific store's forum, that it automatically put the name of the store at the beginning. This way, when I'm looking at the main page and see a new thread with the title "Doubles starting 6/7!" I'll know which store it's for without having to actually open up a bunch of threads that really don't apply to me. I've seen that a lot of posters do this already manually, but not for every store....thanks.

It would be great if in the database there was a "pulldown" option for # of coupons, so that I could do all my inputting via mouse and would not have to pause to type in a #.

I'd like to see an address book section. Where when you trade with someone on a regular bases or at least more than once you can store their address in your profile section so you don't have to ask them over and over again what their address is. You can look it up by username. Or like me if you get a wild hair and want to send an RAOK to someone you've traded with in the past you can just look up their address and surprise them with an envie. Just a thought. Otherwise this site is off the charts.

Oh, man, I really love the Database adn I hate to be coming in here with all these requests!!! I appreciate the Database was a chore to configure and get working!

One thing that would make it even more awesome would be a feature to compare my haves with the wishes of a particular poster.

Like, when I am viewing the wishlist of someone, a button to click that would show me all my "haves" which match with their wishes.

Just would be too easy to ROAK someone...kwim??

Thanks!

I love this idea. I trade a lot and I seem to trade with the same people frequently. I have toyed with the idea of creating my own spreadsheet of addresses, but I don't think that is something that most people would be comfortable with a user having.

I totally agree!!

Also...

A better trading notification... auto pm or email or even some "large enough to see it easily" colored, flashing, "You Have 2 Trade Requests" with a link

And...

In the database, under the trades category, it would be soooo helpful to have some sort of indication that two people make a "trade match" ie. you have what they want and they have what you want. It would save so much time in searching for matches.

Someone mentioned this on another thread somewhere here, not my idea but still a great one!!

Thanks for taking suggestions to improve the site! HCW is the absolute best coupon site out there as far as I'm concerned... it has it all!

Sorry if this has been asked and answered (this is a long thread to go through!).

I love HCW and I love the coupon database for trading. I was wondering if you could change the order of the tabs (for everyone) in the database, so that wish list is first, and have list is second when you click on someone's link. I think it is confusing for some when you give them your databse link the "have list" appears automatically. I've had people pm me saying that my link only went to my have list, not my wish list. Then I have to explain the tabs. This confused me when I started trading as well.

I think the most confusion is for people that don't use the database for their lists. In my past few trades, I've received quite a few q's from my have list and none from my wishlist. I think some people get confused of what pops up when they hit the link, even though I specifically label it "Have & Wish List" to give them a heads up that the have list is first.

I think if the wish list popped up first it would be more beneficial for all parties involved. It would make it less confusing for people that click your link, and those that use the database to make their lists would figure out the change very quickly.

Thanks for listening!

I love the store price books. They have been very helpful to me and many others on the board. However, we all know that there can be price differences between different locations for the same store. For example, Shaw's has Breyer's ice cream BOGO. The shelf price in Leominster is $5.99, but in Groton it could be $5.49 and then in Clinton it could be $5.29. When you look in the price book there is no way for anyone to know which store location these prices are effective at. Would it be possible to add a store location designation box so users will know what price is effective in their store? I think this addition would make the price books even more useful for everyone.
Thanks for listening!

I just posted this on the Feedback sticky, but then I thought that it might be better to post it here.

Can we get an "RAOK recipient" (or something like that) as a fourth option on the feedback form? I always send feedback when I receive an RAOK, but I choose "trade". This doesn't seem quite right, but I don't know what else to do.

Thanks!

Sorry if this has been mentioned, I haven't had enough time to read through all of the previous posts, I would love for there to be a feature with the coupon database that would allow us to query our wish/have list to peoples have/wish list. This way we can make the most of our stamps and send several coupons instead of just a quantity of the same coupon. Or for there to be a feature with the "top three" people that you are most compatible to trade with based on our lists.

I hope this makes sense.

This feature may already exist, but the forum won't let me search for it: RSS feeds for forum searches, so I don't have to subscribe to an entire category (RSS Live bookmarks affect browsers' speeds/memory usage). Otherwise, some type of "deal alert" would be quite handy (i.e. put in the search you're looking for and get emailed whenever something matches it in the forums).

Maybe if you could create something along this idea.. Once a trade is initiated..each trader can create a smaller personalized wish list just for this trade using each others have lists by clicking on items. Maybe there is already something like this that I am not aware of? The way I have to do now is look at the trader's have list and write on paper what I may want and then have to type it into a pm..then look at my have list and try to compare what is on their wish list, write in on paper. There must be an easier way. Am I missing something? How do others do it??

I like argrandma's ideas, A LOT! I always see items in threads that I would love to add to my wishlist. But, I always have a hard time finding them in the database. That would be great if we could add to our wishlist from anywhere. For me, it's especially MIR's. I always see really good ones being traded or auctioned but I never can find them! UGH!

argrandma's second idea is great, too! It would be cool to be able to match our entire lists with the lists of individual traders. I usually have 2 screens opened up and go back and forth from mine to theirs. Writing everything down by hand!

If these things are already in play, could someone please point me in the right direction??

Like other posts, I would LOVE to see the database match up havelist w/ wishlists. It's so time consuming to go through people's lists. Besides, IT TAKES FOREVER for each list to load. ALSO, from the person's lists, it would be great to have an option to send them a private message to offer a trade.

Also, in regard to people's request for an address book ...
Something I did when I initially started trading is setup two custom folders for private messages ... Trades Pending and Trades Completed. When a trade has been agreed upon, I move the pm from the Inbox to Trades Pending. When I've received the trade, I leave feedback then move it to Trades Completed. If you need an address, search by username in the Trades Completed section.

When you view a user, have the ability to view their Have/Want lists from there. I'm new and assumed that was where I would find their lists but was surprised I instead had to search the forum for it.
You could take this one step further and show all the posts they started (could be date driven, only in the last 30 days for example)

You have an option in your PM's to save it to a folder, and you can name this folder whatever you like, and transfer that PM to that folder.:wink7:(It should be down at the bottom of the PM's you have listed in your inbox. It should be a drop down box in the right hand corner. HTH!)

Facebook Q's are usually found in the freebie section :wink7:

What I'd really really love to see and it'd be sooo helpful.. is the
state where people live!!, same place where trader rating etc is.

(ok i'm also nosey :P, love geography, but it really does help..
if you're going to be on a Q train, store deals..
Plus, I've traveled all over and its a great way to meet people.
i think there could be a way people opt out, if they really don't want to show that.. but.. can i beg?>? :hysterical:

Thks for listening :)

I like the Have/Want lists and the Trade tab.. BUT it would be even better if potential traders had a "score" associated with them. The score would reflect how many coupons they have that "I want" and "I have that they want". A higher score would mean a trade would be beneficial. The score could be in a <I have you want>/<you want I have> way. Eg 3/5 (I have 3 items she wants and she has 5 item I want). AND/OR you could make it a weighted system with the high/med/low priorities - just giving it a number from 1-100. It would be easy to come up for a formula for this.
THEN.. you could click on a dropdown to see exactly what coupons match up.
ps - I'm a mathematics programmer (so maybe this is just the way my brain works and is not really useful)

you have 2 windows open in the data base..one you go to the traders page and click send message the window opens you go back to trade page copy and paste what you want then send message ....

Yes, it can't lag. I agree wholeheartedly! The only problem I've had with fb is when you see someone typing and it takes another 2 minutes to show up. Hopefully since we're a smaller site it wouldn't be as bad? :shrug7: Idk how these things work but that makes sense to me!

I have added in the location field to show in members post bits. The state field is required when you register, you can change your state, and some folks may choose a different state than where they are. However I think most HCW members are honest and will use their actual state. It helps facilitate deal postings and trades knowing where members are located.

I know HCW's sister site Organic Grocery Deals has threads about Eco and Green topics; but that site despite it's good intentions is not very active. Plus I'm more comfortable here.

A Green Living Forum or Sub-forum containing different Green thread topics would be best, but with the reorganization and streamlining going on that may not be doable.

I also think that Apartment Living would make a good Sub-forum.

I wouldn't mind having one (or being directed to it if it exists) because I have a "green" complaint.

Target - anyone else getting those huge, shiny-paper, folded, richly colored 1 page ads with a tiny coupon that's good for about 2 days?? What a waste!!!!! I totally agree with the RAOK option for feedback.

Not sure about the "like" button. Would people just hit "like" instead of actually commenting? If so, would you get a thread that had someone's story...then 10 posts that just say "like" with a few thrown in where people actually commented on what the person said? Not sure I'd like that. I like reading people's comments. Sometimes they're helpful.

It reminds me of an old site I used to visit. In order to put a thread in their subscribed theads folder, the members would just post "save" to a thread. So, you'd read it...page down 4 or 5 "save" posts...then finally get someone who commented...then more save posts. It was frustrating, and time-consuming.

Just an opinion from an old lady.

It would actually resemble FB....where you can Like it...but still have the option to comment. You may not have anything really valuable to add to the conversation but completely agree with what the OP is saying so you would hit the "like" button, but then you will still have the other posters who do have a value-add comment to make and will continue to post.

Hmmm...not a big fan of FB. And the "like" thing is part of it.

Last year, my boss's mom passed away. On her FB page a few weeks later, she said that she was having a "down" day and missed her mom. 10 people clicked the "like" button...I guess to show their support for her. But I thought it was kind of rude.

I'd like to see more price books. It looks like a few have been started and when I looked at the PB for Albertsons DFW the last entries were in 2009. (The 2011 entries are mine). There aren't any price books for Kroger either. Could it be linked to the database so if you were adding coupons, you could also click on another tab to enter the regular price at your local store. This would eliminate having to enter the product data in two places.

Really, really, really agree with the "Like" feature!

It might cut down on posting clutter if people could have a way to visually approve (or disapprove) of a post.

The current feedback feature is great, but only the recipient can see that someone gave it. With a like feature, the feedback becomes more public leaving less of a need to post just to say "Thank you!"

I have not decided if we will add the Wiki feature to the printable coupon forum or not. If we did it would make having a forum obsolete and we would loose a whole lot of posts...if people would make sure to add their printable coupon finds to the coupon database that is sort of like a wiki feature in that you can search the database for all the coupons everyone has found and if something is broken you can report it as dead and we remove it. I have seen a printable coupon wiki at another site and really don't care for it. I am leaning towards a no on that one.

I'd love to see the Trade Forum split up into two different forums. I'm not sure if it means moving the MIR elsewhere or putting in two forums- one for "haves" and one for "iso". I just get so lost in that forum as people tend to post 10-15 different posts for each individual item.

queenofthehivemomof5
06-09-2011, 03:51:11 PM
We have a have list and a wish list forum and each person is only allowed to have one thread in each forum...is that what you mean?

I don't understand the MIR part...

kjo890
06-09-2011, 05:39:33 PM
sorry for the confusion! No, I just meant that sometimes people post in trade forum that they are "ISO" a certain item whereas other times they post "Have:X,Y,Z". Often times, a person will post that they have X,Y,Z in several single posts. Thus, it kind of clutters up the "ISO" posts.

As for MIR, I meant to say NBPR. Long day! :)

I was just trying to think of ways to make the "Trading: Current Coupons" easier to navigate. That's all :) Thanks for letting us post suggestions, btw!

Hi. I do not know the limits or capacity of this site, moderator resources or if this is even possible within them, but...

I know we have individual store forums where sales are posted, and a deal seeker thread where people can help each other find the best deals on specific products. And then there is the coupon database... What if we had a deals database? Something where the sales/deals for products are logged for search with categories of which stores, how much and when the deal ends.

So if I want to find the best current deal on, say, Old Spice deodorant, I can go to the db and search "old spice" and have a list pop up just like in the coupon forum. Then I could decide which one worked best for me. It would be a great side-by-side comparison.

I'm guessing this would be a headache to keep up with, though since deals turnover/expire much more quickly than coupons. IDK.... but it did cross my mind, so I figured I'd suggest it.

I'm actually surprised that none of the websites I use have a forum specifically dedicated to reusing and repurposing items! I did a search, and didn't find anything on it here. Hopefully, I'm not repeating an idea that wasn't implemented, but I'm all about using items again and throwing away as little as possible! Maybe an earth-friendly forum? Lots of times there seems to be nothing but Haves and usually they are big lists all by the same person. When you go in there looking for people that are in search of... it makes it hard to find them!

But, on the flip side, I love that I'm able to change fonts and text colors! I don't like to be the same as everyone else! And I love the smilies!!! Sometimes I will stick one in a post (see above) just because I like it, not because it has anything to do with the post!!!

There is already a solution to the problem in place.
Click here: Trades: Current Coupons And Offers (http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/trades-current-coupons-offers/)
Go all the way to the bottom of the page. On the left it will say "Display Options".
There is an option that says "Prefix". Pick that 1 & choose the prefix that you want to review. It will pull up all posts that have been made with that prefix. That way you don't have to view all the threads only the ones with the heading you have picked.

I would like to see non-traders be able to participate in more on the site.

It almost seems this should be called "Hot Coupon Traders' World" because there are many things non-traders aren't allowed to participate in, auctions, for example, even HHH auctions, RAOK's (a real RAOK, not one where you do it for something in return) and classifieds are just the ones I'm aware of.

Once I wanted to give away some coupons and had a thread stating such and I was told I couldn't do it. Because I'm not a trader. I didn't want to "trade" anything; I simply wanted to give someone the coupons I didn't need.

I know I could join the traders but I don't want to and the reasons are perfectly sane - to me - and I can't imagine why everyone else should be excluded from the above-mentioned activities.

When i was going through the forums and someone posted a picture of the paper product tower, i thought it would be a neat idea to have a contest of people building something neat out of their stockpile and posting pictures and having people vote on them. Not sure who , what and how it would work and what the winner would receive. My coupon stash sucks for that department! But i think it would be really fun to see what people can build out of their stockpiles!

There are reasons for the rules. If you want to post in any of the trading forums you need to join the trader in training group. And all trade related posts need to be in the trading forums.

Is there a reason why you don't want to join the trader group? It's not like we probe you with sharp objects when you join. We just ask that you abide by the trading rules, and if a bad trade, auction etc goes down our mods can help mediate the trade and try to get it resolved.

I would like to see more games. Maybe a forum thread that is just for games.

If referring to game threads this is the forum for those: That's Entertainment (http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/thats-entertainment/)

Once in the forum go to the bottom left & do a search by thread prefix using the one that says "That's Entertainment ~ Game" & you will see what members have posted. When I do a search I get these threads: http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/thats-entertainment/?pp=50&daysprune=-1&prefixid=thats_entertainment_game (http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/thats-entertainment/?pp=50&daysprune=-1&prefixid=thats_entertainment_game)

Thanks so much. I never knew that. Btw, if I wanted to start a game on that forum, can I just do it?
