Well, we successfully moved to the new server. I am using this thread to tack any issues that come up.

Time stamp is a bit screwy. Those of us in pac time zone are showing the east coast time zone, so until we get that figured out, time stamps are going to be just a smidge messed up. At least they are all still the same day and not bouncing us on some other day.

I know lensperson is in WA (from their profile), but I'm in NV and I'm still seeing Eastern.

Is it THAT late already??!?!? :hysterical:

I am CST, its 6:49 here and the timestamp is a bit off as you can see. HTH

There's probably an option somewhere in the software where you can use local server time or time local to the IP.. it's just finding the stupid thing! Trust me, I know from experience how frustrating something small like that can be! And then when you find it you go DOHHHHHHH!

My time stamp at the bottom of the board is correct. I am in EST. However, my pm's are showing PST and my posts are posting in PST as well.

Well, I cleared my cache, cookies, etc and still cannot access Hotcouponworld at ALL from AOHelL. I can from IE, but usually use AOL. Anyone have any suggestions?

TIA

My timestamp is off - I'm Eastern Time and it is saying there are posts at 11AM which hasnt happened yet lol.

Also, all the threads I am subscribed to showed up in my email box, even though I had no email notfications turned on. So I re-applied the "no email updates", we'll see if that works.

Same problem here!! Glad I tried IE, though! I was starting to get hives!!!

BTW...my timestamp is off too.

I'm so glad I found this post. My time stamp is off and I kept trying to change my time zone in the User CP and I thought I was losing my mind :poke:.
It's 11:35 AM here (EST) but it says I posted this at 2:34 PM.

Yay for the new server though! Thank You Mark! I would rather have the time messed up than not be able to access the board at all.

No, the timestamp issue still is being worked on our end.

As to the AOL issue, they might not still recognize that the site has changed addresses yet - our new server people advised us that it can take up to 3 days names servers to recognize the change - kind of like leaving a forwarding address with the post office.

I do hope that the site is moving faster for folks though...

OMG! I 'm going crazy here!
The board will not come up with AOL. With IE, it opens correctly, might even let me go to a new page and then...BAM...goes back to the server problem! I'm on Mozilla right now but it did the same thing as IE a bit ago. I responded to a PM, edited my Have list and when I went to save changes, it goes back to the server problem page. I never know click to click if it's going to work. I emptied my cache twice now, have rebooted twice and things are still hinky! :frown:

Woo Hooooo! Here I am sick at home today and I couldn't get it to work....ahhhh, now I feel like I'm home!

So I deleted temp internet files and restarted and it didn't work.
So I did it AGAIN and now I'm on the site.

mark
06-23-2008, 09:52:42 PM
When rebooting, it is best to shutdown the computer and then power it back on.

You can check to see if your dns nameserver is using the correct ip address for the site by opening up a command prompt and typing

ping www.hotcouponworld.com (http://www.hotcouponworld.com/)

It should resolve to 69.30.24.236. If it does not then your dns has not been updated.

In case anyone wants to know dns nameservers are like a road map to the internet. They translate the url [www.hotcouponworld.com] (http://www.hotcouponworld.com]) into a ip address. This tells your request where to go. There are hundreds of dns nameservers all over the world. Last night, I told my dns hosting company to change the ip address of the hotcouponworld server to 69.30.24.236. This information is then propagated all over the internet. The good news is that most of the major isp have their own dns nameservers and request updates often. The bad news is it could take a few minutes to many hours to update all of the servers around the world.

The best advice right now is patience.

I am having trouble getting in to view all of the posts. Before, I just clicked on drug stores and chose which one, now I get the main forum but when I click, nothing happens. I can see who posts but not their subject thread or anything else. What am I doing wrong?

Not always but I'm still getting when I click a thread theres a blank page and just sits there, on the lower left it says, done but with errors on page. I have to refresh and sometimes its ok and others it is a blank page for a few seconds again.

Time stamp still off.

Wonder how this will effect autions.

I haven't been able to access HCW for days (I use Firefox). Tried changing the color of the pages from Default to Purple/Blue/Green, once I did that I can access everything again. (Scroll all the way down to the bottom of any HCW page, link to change colors will be on the very bottom left).

It's like leaving a forward order with the post office -it can take upwards of 3 days for the WWW to recognize we've moved, and everyone's ISP provider is going to be different about when they load, etc.

As to the FF issue - it's not just a HCW thing to be sure. That said, you can change your color and it helps. Don't know what it is about not being able to read the orange - those on Safari have the same issue. However, we have a change in store for HCW and it should be completely compatible with FF browsers....we love it and we hope you all will too.

oh the withdrawals! I haven't been able to get on but some friends could. I ended up clicking the "reset internet explorer settings" button and it worked. I had tried 2,3,4...and more times just deleting temporary internet files and cookies then rebooting and it didn't work.

**Scratch that, if I close the site and try to come back to it I get the error again.

I've been trying to get on since Sunday, but our local ISP has not yet updated their dns servers. My husband is an IT guy and had me go on through iproxy.eu. This at least gets me on for now. Maybe some of you who are still having issues can try that? Anyway, I hope they update soon - this is driving me nuts - I need my HCW fix!!

I had no problem with the boards, but just did an upgrade to Firefox 3, and now I can't read any of the thread titles. I think it doesn't recognize anything that is bold. I'm using IE right now, but I prefer Firefox. None of my other boards have a problem, so I don't know how to resolve this other than maybe downgrading Firefox. Looks like there's some incompatability with Firefox and the board setup.

You need to change your skin. At the bottom left side there is a dropdown box that will allow you to change your skin. Choose plain ol boring grey for your skin. I use Safari and I have the same problem. We are working on a new skin that will retain the old colors and work with firefox and safari.

I have not been able to access HCW for the entire week from my home pc. I usually use Firefox but I tried IE to see what happens and it's not working for me either way. I am getting e-mail updates from the boards that I am subscribed to and people who PM me but it's frustrating that I can't log in.

I don't like looking like an irresponsible person especially since I just started my communication with others about trading. It looks bad on my part not responding in a timely manner. As of now, I am writing from another computer at my apartment complex's business center and I can somehow log in.

As soon as I go back to my apartment, I don't think I will be able to access this.

3. Shutdown the computer and start if back up.

A user previously report success running the internet connection wizard. You should be able to run the wizard through the files menu.

I have this same problem! It is like the links are the same color as the background. :(

Same setup here - XP & FF3

I'm getting the same problems as Carolina but only at work. Last Tuesday the screen came to the "updating server" screen. Then later in the week I keep getting the Network error screen...

"
Not Found

The requested URL /forums/index.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

I truly do not think this is something related to my work's firewalls or protection. I was able to get in just fine for weeks before the server migration. And there are no other sites banned or blocked at my work.

I HATE not being able to log in and learn more and check here. I can't believe how fast I've become addicted. :) Please help!!!

Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do to fix the problem. This is a dns issue name resolution error. The company you work for may do a local dns cache that only gets updated every so often. You are getting a 404 file not found error because your name resolution is pointing at the old server and I have taken the site down at that ip address.

I'm really sorry.

If you know someone in the IT department you can ask them about the dns nameserver they are using. If you get the name I can ping them and maybe get them to update the server.

I am getting the same exact problem as (Megan) castocreations...

I am unable to open HCW with IE either.

Who can I contact to help me fix this? Who would be my IT guy to ask him/her about the dns nameserver?

Yes, I would ask your IT guy about the dns nameserver. Ask him to 'ping' the site and find out what ip address is the site resolving to.

Old site - 66.7.192.161

New site - 69.30.24.236

You can test this yourself as well. You will need to open up a command prompt and type

ping www.hotcouponworld.com

It will give you the following results

PING hotcouponworld.com (69.30.24.236): 56 data bytes

In between the parentheses is the ip address.

To get to the command prompt -

On Windows XP
1. Click the start button
2. Click on run in the menu
3. In the box that opened up type 'cmd' - without the single quotes
4. Type the ping command as stated above

On Vista
1. Click all programs button.
2. Click on accessories
3. Click on command prompt
4. Type the ping command as stated above

Hang in there we will get you back.

So you think eventually the DNS issue will resolve itself? In the meantime I just need to suffer without HCW at work. LOL Probably will increase my productivity. ha!

I can't really ask anyone in IT since it's a larger company and I don't even know who would do that sort of thing. :(

If I ping it from my work computer do you think it would resolve the issue? I'm SO addicted to this site and not being able to access it is driving me bonkers. hahaha

I don't think it will resolve the issue, but at least we will know the answer.

If it does resolve correctly then the problem lies in the browser. I think a quick run through the internet connection wizard may solve the problem.

Well, I pinged it and it's looking at the old address. :( I asked one of the IT ladies but she didn't know how to get it to update. *sigh* I hate not being able to log in!!!

Who would be my IT person if it's my home pc?

I would call the tech support help line for the company you get your internet service through. They should be able to help.

For those of you who still find the Web site doesn't show up from other locations, you *may* be able to get around it by running what is called a DNS Flush.

I was going to type directions up, but someone already has directions on how to do this, so I copied and pasted it:

To clear or Flush the DNS Cache,
1. Click Start and RUN.
2. Type CMD and press Enter or click OK.
3. This should take one to the DOS command window.
4. Type IPCONFIG/FLUSHDNS and press Enter.

I have had a lot of probelsm with my VZ broadband connection lately. Nothing worked. I am going to have to bring it in to get a diagnostic. Thank goodness this is one of the sites that DOES work for me!

I sent you a test email, but I still have not gotten the email quite right. I should have better results tomorrow.

I'm getting email, it's just quite delayed. Is there still a backlog it's working through? Are you on a batch schedule with the new server? I used to get email about PMs or reported posts in my forums pretty close to instantaneously. There was a report 3 hours ago that hasn't hit my email box yet and PMs from 2 hours ago still haven't gotten there either.

Yes, we trickle the email to be sent. Although, I fixed a couple of email related problems, I have a few to work through.
