Is there a way to save posts I want to remember reading somewhere? Is this what Permalink is for?

Can someone answer this question, please. I also would like to save a certain thread. I clicked on the permalink link:giggle2: but I don't know what, if anything, happened.

I think what you want is to subscribe to the thread. At the top of the first post in the thread is a menu for "Thread Tools". Select "Subscribe to this Thread" off that menu. It will ask you if you want email updates when the thread is updated. Make your selection and click the OK/Subscribe/Whateveritsays button.

To go to your list of subscribed threads, go to the "Quick Links" menu at the top of the page and select "Subscribed threads".

I'm just looking to save particular posts in threads that are 300+ long. I don't want to read every one again to remember the 2 or 3 I need.

Then yes, permalink should do what you want and should follow the post should it get moved to a different thread. You click permalink. It takes you to a page with just that post. You bookmark/favorite that page.

I'm not getting what you describe. When I click Permalink, it just moves it to the top of the viewing screen, but all the other posts are still there. Any other help???:shrug7:

I misspoke.

When you click on the permalink, it reloads the page and jumps to the correct post. If you look in the address bar, you'll see it adds "#post1234" to the end. If you bookmark the page, then when you return to it, it'll load the whole thread but jump to the post you wanted.

If you want just the single post, without the context of the thread, then click on the post number to the left of the permalink link. That will pop up a window with just the single post in it, and you can bookmark that.

Hi,

How do you subscribe to a thread?

On the menu bar just above the first post is the thread tools option. Click on it and you will get 3 options including subscribe to this thread. Just click on subscribe to this thread and then when you click User CP you will see your subscribed threads in the top middle of the page.

However, the threads you post to are automatically subscribed to. You only need this option if, you are wanting to follow what is being said, but haven't posted to the thread. HTH.

AHHH... so that is why I got subscribed to a couple threads. LOL. I couldn't figure out HOW I had subscribed, so I was wondering how I was gonna figure out how to do it again, without sounding stupid and asking, and one of the moderators looking and wondering how I could have known how to do it one moment and not know how to do it now! ha ha! Thanks. Now I don't feel quite so forgetful.
