Anyone know anything about it. I heard you have 6 months to pay off your purchase before they charge you the APR. I have called 3 walmarts and noone knows anything about it:rolleyes:

I believe that it is what is supposed to replace their layaway program.

I don't do credit cards, and even if I did, there is no way I would allow anything with the Walmart name to be anywhere near my credit report. I don't trust them.

I don't know, but back when I applied for one years ago, they turned me down and now I wouldn't give them my CC business anywho.

Here's the link to the Card Information:

WalMart CC (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.gsp?cat=435440)

And here's a link to special financing offers: (they discuss 0% interest here)

If you are looking for a credit card with no interest on purchases for 6 months, check out Chase and Citi. Several of there cards have no finance charges for a certain amount of time after you get the card. This would apply to all purchases, not just Wal-Mart, but at the end of that period, make sure you stop using the card at all for at least a few days, and pay it off completely to avoid unneccesary interest charges. For example, the Citi Simplicity Card (https://www.accountonline.com/ACQ/Chooser/LearnMore?siteId=CB&CARD_KEYS=4DPZE2U6-M) Offers 0% on purchases for 12 months and no annual fee.

May I ask what you are buying that you need this financing? Unless there are special circumstances (i.e. your fridge died and you need one TODAY), you generally should not finance your purchases unless you can already afford them and are utilizing the 0% offers to prolong taking money out of savings. I just would really hate to see you do this just to buy X-mas gifts or a big TV that you cannot afford. The "Buy now, pay later" mentality is why millions of Americans owe way to much on credit cards. Please be careful of this trap, its far too easy to fall into.

Ya what she said.

Yes it is a program to trap people into debt and to do away with the layaway program. :frown: I don't want Wally World anywhere near my credit report either. :hysterical:

I had one, but didn't have that deal w/ no interest. I canceled mine when I heard how crappy they treat their employees. They have enough money rom cheating their employees, they don't need mine! (Although, they did just lose a $4 billion law suit!)

that's my been my philosophy too since i walked into a marriage with about $30,000 worth of debt in 2002 (thanks to his first two wives).

last year DH bought a bunch of xmas presents for the kids on the WM CC (coulda killed him for it too), and that balance was interest free until dec 9th THIS year. there's about $350 left on that balance (out of a total $1600-something). after the 9th the charges start racking up on that portion of the balance also. grrrr.

I'm not sure about the interest rate. If they are like most stores, they will offer different promotions through out the year to entice you to open or use your credit account. I just noticed on the back of the wm flyer I rec'd in the mail that there is a coupon for $20 Back on your first Walmart card purchase of $100 or more made the day you open your new account in-store. You need to present this coupon at the time of purchase for it to apply.

it's an xmas promotion, no interest for six months if you buy an item which is more then $397.00

otherwise its the usual high interest

i only keep mine for sams club, because its cheaper then taking cash out of their atm each time

:wavehi:FYI
If you use it more than 5 times in 25 hours they freeze it.

GEMB does not have good customer service they use a call center is in Manila.

If you want a credit line increase you have to be on your current credit limit for four months.

I have this card, but have not used in it a while because the interest rate is insane. But anyone who has this card better go check their credit limit. They lowered mine by almost $2000 - I guess because I don't use it. Glad I checked!

They lowered ours recently as well. But it doesn't matter as we don't use it as well. But I do have to say that it is a terrible card to have. When we applied for the card it was interest free for the first year...IT WAS NOT. And the interest rate is horrible! I'm so glad to be done with this card!
