Ok, I have a really stupid question ~ What do you do with BTFE? I don't have kids yet so I'm not familiar with this program and I'm a newbie to all of this stuff. Thanks for your help and hopefully you didn't laugh at me or roll your eyes at me...

That's not a stupid question, silly! People collect these because they can redeem them for real money for their schools. Each "boxtop" is usually worth ten cents. They sometimes run promotions where a boxtop may be worth more than 10 cents, but 90% of the time each one earns the school ten cents. The school collects them, sends them in and is sent a check for the amount they collected, so if they sent in 10,000 BTFE they would receive a check for $1000.

My daughter's PTO earned over $1000 last year with this program to send the students on class trips that were not in the school budget. I believe schools are allowed to earn up to $20,000 per year through the BoxTop program so it can be a HUGE moneymaker for the schools.

Also, you can collect them and trade them for Qs that you need. There are moms on this board that collect BTFEs and are more than happy to trade you for them.
