I have asked to get clarification of Shaw’s Corporate Coupon Policy again. The following is the response that I got from a Customer Care Representative. I asked a great deal more questions than I did last year, so that I could get down to the nitty gritty. If you have any further questions or concerns, you should contact Shaw's customer service center at 1-877-932-7948. I personally have found that I get a better response by going through their website.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Coupon policies can vary from area, district, and store.

GENERAL POLICY information. Please keep in mind these may vary from area to area, as noted above.

DOUBLING COUPONS (see additional sections below as well):
1. There is no minimum purchase required.
2. Offer good on national brand manufacturer’s coupon only (Unless otherwise noted).
3. Customer must purchase product in the size(s) specified on the coupon.
4. Expired coupons will not be honored.
5. ONE MANUFACTURER'S COUPON and ONE COMPANY coupon may be redeemed on the same item, providing the value of the coupon is not more than the price of the item. However, only the manufacturer’s coupon will be doubled.
6. Excludes milk, tobacco, and items prohibited by law.
7. The following coupons are redeemed at face value and are not doubled:
• Free coupons – redeemed at face value only
• Company coupons – redeemed at face value only
• Cigarette coupons - redeemed at face value only
(unless prohibited by law)
• Pharmacy coupons - redeemed at face value only
• Store-issued Manufacturer's. Coupons - redeemed at face value only

MANUFACTURER COUPONS: ONE manufacturer's coupon may be accepted PER ITEM for items that are legally permitted. An example of an item not legally permitted in Massachusetts would be cigarette and tobacco coupons. Additionally, please note the following...

1. We double valid manufacturers' coupons with a value of up to 99 cents. Coupons over 99 cents are redeemed at face value. (e.g., 75 cent manufacturer's coupon will be doubled to $1.50; a $1.00 manufacturer's coupon will be redeemed at the face value of $1.00).

2. No more than 6 like ITEMS may be purchased per customer per day using the Double Manufacturer's Coupon offer.

3. Redemption may not exceed the value of the item you are purchasing.

4. We accept up to a total of 6 triple store coupons in any combination of Shaw's and/or a competitor on manufacturer coupons valued up to 99 cents.

5. Coupons excluded from doubling or tripling coupons include: coupons for cigarette and tobacco products, coupons for free items, and coupons that state "do not double".

INTERNET COUPONS
1. MANUFACTURERS' INTERNET COUPONS follow the same restrictions stated above, as well as the following restrictions: Coupons must be printed from a computer printer (no photocopies) and MUST SCAN. We will NOT accept manufacturer internet coupons for free product (including buy one/get one free) or that have a value great than $4.99. Altered coupons will NOT be accepted.

2. SHAW'S INTERNET COUPONS are accepted with some restrictions. The coupons must include "Shaw's" and must be printed from a computer printer (no photo copies). All coupon requirements must be met. Unless otherwise stated on the coupon, there is a limit of ONE COUPON for EACH TYPE per CUSTOMER. Shaw's Internet Coupons will not exceed $10, will not be doubled or tripled, and cannot exceed the value of the item purchased. Altered coupons will NOT be accepted.

COMPETITOR COUPONS, the Shaw's Division competitor coupon acceptance policy varies by area, district, and store. Individual Store Directors have the discretion to accept or decline these coupons on a competitive basis. Only grocery stores are considered competitors. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our customer service center at 1-877-932-7948.

Last night I went shopping and the Manager (Angela) told me that Shaw's has a new policy (might only be their store).

New policy is this:

Only 6 like coupons per customer per day.

Has anyone else heard this?

This will really cramp my shopping!

Oh and I should mention..this isn't about doubling coupons. This is just the new policy.

I know I have read it somewhere here that Shaws started doing this some time ago. My shaws has limited 6 like coupons for a long time now. I think if you look on this site for shaws coupon policy, you will find it there.

I've been told this at different Shaw's but then also told the policy is 6 of the same to double, after the 6th they won't double. So I'm not sure it's a matter of a new policy but just not understanding the policy they have. At least I hope so!

I would like to jump in here. I just received an email today from someone in Shaws marketing dept.

Shaws is fully reimbursed for coupons not doubled and although the manager has the right to set limits, the corporate policy regarding 6 coupons is only for coupons that double. If your store says only 6 of the same doubling coupon per day, that would fall within these guidelines, but if your store is saying for all coupons, keep reading.

I asked very specifically about the limit of 6 coupons and what that covers as many shoppers are given conflicting info based on store interpretations.

The reply is that stores are only instructed to limit 6 like doubling coupons and even then you can use more than 6, but only 6 will double.
Example if you have 10 .50/1 coupons only 6 will be doubled, but you CAN use 10, the last 4 just will not double.
If your stores registers allow more than 6, staff is expected to know the policy and limit it to 6. The limit of 6 does NOT apply to non doubling coupons.

I would suggest asking your manager to call their marketing dept for clarficiation if you are trying to use $1/1 coupons or if you want to use 10 of the same doubling coupon, and understand that any over 6 will not double.

I also got confirmation that although difficult to understand at a store level sometimes, using b1g1 mfr coupons on b1g1 sales is ok. Using a FREE mfr coupon during a store b1g1 sale is ok. store b1g1 q's are ok with mfr b1g1 q's are ok. and that YES piggybacking is ok.

Example, you have a coupon that says get X free when you buy A. You can indeed use a $ off coupon to pay for item A and use the other coupon to apply to X unless wording to the contrary is on either coupon.

Yes, we know in coupon world its legit, but sometimes it is hard to explain these scenarios to a CS rep and get the ok to do it.

IMO, especially in this economy, it would benefit Shaws to revisit the coupon policies with their store managers.
If you have 15 $1/1 coupons that they are going to be reimbursed $1.08 each for and the manager says only 6, thats the policy, the store just lost $9.72 in revenue and failed to move product. Small potatoes, but multiply that by all couponers several times a week in each store and thats a lot of $$ possibly lost by a miscommunication.

ETA: I did let them know I was looking for answers as both a shopper and online coupon site mod. She did ask me to make sure to remind members that the coupons they send out are not to be shared on coupon sites but rather to direct you all to www.getinspired.shaws.com (http://www.getinspired.shaws.com) to sign up for the promo's and coupons yourselves.

Our manager at the Manchester store was very clear ( I asked again and again to be sure I understood) the 'new' store policy is as follows:

1) Only 6 coupons of the same coupon per customer. No more then 6 regardless if they double or not.

2) Only 6 coupons of the same coupon per customer, per day.

If this is true and real...i'm sad.

The manager who told me this is Angela. She is a very nice manager, but i'm still sad.

Which state is your Manchester?

I have been told differently in my CT store.

I hate it when they change, or arbitrarily make things up. Manager turnover is a real problem - just when I teach them someone new comes in.

In addition to what Bugfae711 said, you can also read the policy here (http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/shaws/120723-please-read-official-shaws-coupon-policy-4-13-09-please-read.html). Some of the most important words that you may read are these Coupon policies can vary from area, district, and store.

GENERAL POLICY information. Please keep in mind these may vary from area to area, as noted above.
Shaw's gives store managers, or at least regional managers, the power to alter/vary the coupon policy from store to store. If you have questions about your specific store's policy, I would suggest gathering a list of specific questions with examples to email a corp. CSR. See here (http://hotcouponworld.com/forums/shaws/24479-shaws-faq.html#post179941) or Contact Online (http://www.shaws.com/pages/cert/contactUs.php).

While the store's policies may vary little by little, please remember that when posting, you need to go by the official policy.
