Here is some info I came across recently about clearance at CVS
Some info on the clearances at CVS....
*this was originally posted toward the end of Spring 2007
There are two major types of clearances: AMM (automatic Markdowns) and
clearances on "Seasonal" stuff like holidays, spring items, summer items...
these are things that are not regularly carried.
This week, the seasonal markdowns just started for the Spring Items. The
Spring Items (spring flowers, storage, wind chimes, etc) SHOULD be marked
down to 50%. Next week they'll go to 75% (if the store manager doesn't push
it to get it out of there sooner... they'll mark it down earlier... its up
the the GM). They have a deadline to get "summer" set... so they may get in
a hurry to get it outta there..
Ok, AMM's.... Every year, CVS has "Plans". This is where they "rebuild" each
section of the store (shampoo/conditioners, hairstyling, shaving/deodorants,
etc..) Soon before they "rebuild" a section of the store, the system sends
down discounts on things that will no longer be included in the new "Plan".
The system is supposed to send the AMMs down on Tuesdays, but they come on
Mondays most of the time. Good store mgrs will get the AMMs started on
Mondays (these are the little tags you see hanging on the shelves in home
locations for 25%, 50%, 75% and some of them just say clearance with no
discount). These clearance deals are good until they're gone and no more
product can be ordered or will come into the stores. Coupons can be used on
these items. These items will normally go on clearance for 4 weeks... 25%
first week, 50% second week, 75% third week, and then they will go back to
just clearance with no discount. At that point, its up to the mgr to
manually mark those down and move them to the clearance end-cap. (This should
be in the back of the store on the left hand side most of the time).
In the first of the year, right after the Christmas clearances, makeup goes
on clearance. Soon after that is shampoo, hair styling/color/accessories,
soaps/body wash, lotion, deodorants, mostly health and beauty. The "other
side" of the store will come later in the year.

My store had 2 with a 75% off sticker on them. I wasn't brave enough (the colors weren't my taste anyway) to try and see if they'd give ECB's for 'free' on the current 2 day sale. But at any rate, regular price: $7.99, currently about $2 each.
HTH!

I ran up to CVS today for a newspaper and I browsed around real quik and found Starbucks Chocolate clearanced for $1.37. With the $1/1 coupon they cost me .37 cents. I already gave them to a friend so I will try and explain them the best I can. They are small boxes of individually wrapped chocolates in two or three different flavors. I would guess they are about 4oz. or so. My CVS only two left so check it out quickly before they are all gone.

I was looking to buy Soft Soap, buy $10,get $3, I scanned the Nutra-Oil Hydrating, 7.5 oz hand Soft Soap, it was clearanced to $1.40, from $2.79, at my CVS! There were no signs of the clearance, I was scanning checking prices, on the red price/coupon scanner box. I bought the lone bottle of Nutra-Oil Hydrating Soft Soap, along with more Soft Soap, got my $10 worth and my $3 EB (limit 1).

Many different types of Sally Hansen nail polish are on clearance for 50% off or more right now (part of the annual beauty mark-down/clearance). One kind is regularly priced at $2.49 and another is $2.79 making them clearance priced at $1.25 and $1.40. Both the current Beauty Book and the new Beauty Book have Q's for $3 off any 2 Sally Hansen nail polish meaning these will be free or produce overage depending on whether your CVS adjusts down coupons.
You can use multiple coupons in the same transaction (these coupons do not say limit one per customer as many other CVS Q's do).
This is an even better deal if you happen to have any $/$$ Q's. Enjoy!

My store had Infusium 23 shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in treatment on clearance for $3.50, and with the $3/1 Q in this weeks P&G it made it 50c (plus tax) OOP. Not bad since that stuff is normally pretty expensive. :BigHand:

Infusium at my CVS in Kettering OH today was $1.87. All types, both shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in treatment. I bought several bottles of the moisture-ology ones. The kid at the register said that this particular store was being remodeled soon so "lots of stuff" was going on clearance. I was in a hurry and in the store almost at closing time, but I noticed TONS of clearance stickers in the shampoo section. Will go back tomorrow to do a better re-con.
This is the CVS across from Meijer in Miami Twp, by the way.

I was at CVS this morning. I already had taken advantage of the $1.40 Softsoap, and the CVS bath soap. I bought Dove for 2.20 reduced price for a doublepack. I think that there was an ECB linked to it. If you buy 1, you get $1.00 ECB.
I also found that there are Essence of Beauty massage tools marked down from $1.99 to $1.00. You can buy 2 for free with $2.00 off of any Essence of Beauty coupons.
Ellin Lavar (high end) shampoo/conditioners. I used a store coupon for $3.00 off of any, and then the conditioner scanned for $2.00 instead of the markdown price of $4.00. I think that it went down to 75% off and they did not change the tags. I paid $1.00 for 2 bottles.

At the N. Grand CVS in Springfield IL I found a few different Pantene in the regular sizes for $1.37 & $1.25 and the 24 oz for $2.00. I believe they were 75% off and not all were marked 75% but they scanned that. I picked up 3 shampoos (1-24 oz & 2-16 oz), a mouse, and 2 treatment conditioners for less than a buck. I used the $1/treatment or styling products, $2/24 oz, and $3 on 2 shampoo/conditioners I added an extra product to cover the overage on the $3.00 coupon.

Some CVS's have them, some do not. Usually, if your store has one, it will be located below a red sign hanging from the ceiling that says "Coupons/Price Check" or something to that effect, pointing down to where the scanner (it's a red box) is located. You can scan items for price checks, or you can scan your ECB card and if you are lucky, the machine will print forth a bounty of coupons!!! :BigHand: But usually I don't get lucky. :shrug7:

Thanks! The $3 coupon I have is only good for Centrum cardio, so I couldn't use it, which was a bummer.
I have the details on the 3 coupons inside the box.
Save $1 on any large size Centrum (Regular, silver, and Performance) 75 ct or higher exp. 12-31-09
Save $1 on any Centrum kids, not valid on 30 ct exp 12-31-09
Save $1 on any Caltrate 60 ct or larger exp 12-31-09
It was also a little strange, but the vitamins were on a shelf next to the holiday clearance, although their tag did not say 75% select holiday merchandise, it just said 75% off.

Alot of the stores I've been in over the past couple of days have alot of Skin Effects products on clearance and there was an emailed cvs coupon for $5/2 making them very cheap or free. I also found Almay facial bars for .47 which I think you can use your $1/1 Almay cosmetics coupons...I haven't tried it yet though. I'm still finding quite a bit of Pantene on clearance at my stores. One of my stores had a bunch of Neutrogena face products on clearance for really good prices but I didn't have any coupons...

Yesterday, I got a Sunsilk Anti-Poof shampoo and Anti-Poof conditioner for $1.07/each and used my $2/2 Sunsilk coupon that expires 3/31/09. I was SOOO excited! This is in South Jersey and was on the clearance endcap.
I'm not sure which insert they are from but they are probably in the database. I have been holding onto these coupons, searching both WAGS ans CVS for Sunsilk clearance, for the last couple months and finally found some. I snagged the only 2 bottles on clearance at my store.
I added this to the spreadsheet.
Also, they had St Patrick's beads, pins, hats etc all on 75% off on the clearance endcap. I ran into one of the managers I know and he said they forgot to put them out and so now they are going directly to clearance! I got a pin that blinks and says "Kiss Me I'm Irish" for $0.75 and a string of green beads with a green mug hanging from it for $0.25. I'll probably go back for more tomorrow if I get a chance.

Found the following good deals Sunday...
The Playskool brand baby wipes are now 75% off down here. The single pack is 82 cents and the double pack is $1.45, triple pack is $1.87. So, if you have your $1 coupon...a great deal.
There are many types of deordorants marked to 75% down too. The thing with CVS is that they do not always post the clearance items, so use the self-check to check each item's price. My stores never give me grief about using my coupons...so for most of these I was able to subtract another 50 cents to a dollar.
anyway--if you go...look for the following...
Clinical Strength Old Spice, "Pure Sport" (in a box) with the green label is $2.50 ..this was great because it usually is around $10 and w/$2 coupon...really cheap! This item was not marked as clearance, but the scanner worked.
Some of the following were marked...and even if an item is marked at 25%, double check...I found several items marked 75% off, but the tags only showed 25% OR 50% if they had tags at all.
