Just got back from my local CVS where they had slim shots marked down to $4.99- free with $5 coupon from the inserts. I am thinking they should pair nicely with the 11 bags of hershey kisses I got at Kmart last week!:hysterical:

I gave up looking and then just happened into a store today that had a cart full of Pampers, Huggies and Playschool. A friend and I shared the cart so there is still hope left.

Cashier said they had 6 carts over the weekend so I'm lucky to have found that last cart when I did.

There were sizes 1, 3 and 6 and the Playschool was a combined pack with size 1 &2.

Disclaimer: I found all of these at my awesome CVS which often has stuff marked down that no other store does. I stopped by another one and none of the items were marked down, let alone 90%, but I don't think I have EVER seen anything on clearance at the second store so YMMV. Most of this was found in the clearance endcap and seasonal clearance section, but I found a few items still on the shelves unmarked, especially the mascaras.

-$1/1 cutter product (8/9 RP)

Purina Tidy Cats 10 lb bag cat litter $0.29

My receipt for above says I saved $123.91. With all the coupon overage, I got all of that for about $1!! I did have some beeps but everything legitimately matched and the cashier (who is also awesome) pushed them through.

My other purchase:

Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara in 401 Extreme Blackout and 402 Black Velvet $1.09

EOB Vanilla Cupcake Lipgloss $0.29

Maybelline Volume Express turbo boost 7x mascara Very Black 251 (only shade that worked) $0.74
-$1/1 see above

NYC Mosaic Powder Desert Bloom (only shade that worked) $0.48
- supposedly $3/1 any NYC in October All You

Maybelline gift pack? Set of eyeshadow, liner, mascara and makeup remover $1.49
-$1/1 above coupons...awesome deal!! It's in a clear bag with a black top. Picture of a model in background and says defined length in green in upper right corner UPC 4155404727

Sally Hansen Natural Butter Lip Shimmer - the 2 shades rang up different
$0.10 and $0.59 Aura and Impulse
-$1/1 any lip product (9/13 RP)

As Seen on TV Save a Blade razor sharpener $0.99

I love CVS :) I got multiple quantities of the above for about $8 OOP TOTAL, and I only used $2 ECB and didn't have coupons on hand for the second purchase. I can provide UPCs and possibly pictures upon request.

I'm trying to remember what else I saw but didn't purchase...Nexcare sanitizer and lip treatment, NYC lip plumping gloss, CVS probiotics, sorry, I did all of this after working a 12 hour shift and my mind is blanking. Happy hunting!

I asked my assistant mgr. once about the difference in store clearances and he said the only thing he can guess is that stores that are doing well are allowed to clearance their stuff and ones that don't have good sales are not. The lawn chairs that some people got for $.99 never even got marked 50% off here. In fact I was told that they had been instructed to send them back instead of marking them down.

Every store I went to in North DFW area was cleared out. Even the ones that were behind other stores in clearing the diapers. The diaper clearance is the most rewarding and the most frustrating clearance I know of at CVS. They disappear within minutes as one person can clear out the whole store.

Wait, I just remembered why I can't get these same bargains by using Qs with clearance items. My store marks out the UCP so the cashier has to enter the amount as general merchandise. Plus, they look at me like "you've got to be kidding" when I give them a $1 Q for $.29 item! 90% off is pretty awesome, but my bargain instinct always tries to get it for free!! LOL!

They do check to make sure the coupon matches the item, which isn't a problem. I match them up carefully myself before I check out.

90% of the stuff I find on clearance isn't anything I want for myself. It's great stuff for donating. It's fun to get free stuff for donating. It's a win-win situation (for me and the shelters). I can't afford to buy it, and they need the stuff. :giggle2:

I have been refused on using my coupons for the cheap clearance items, most are black marked thru the UPC and have to be keyed in, a couple trips. When they do allow me to, they adjust them down to the item price. Which is fine to me. But, I feel I should be able to use them. They are coupons on the exact items. What is the rules for this situation?

ladycat00
10-17-2009, 08:40:10 PM
What is the rules for this situation? There are no official rules anywhere that I'm aware of. As far as I know, it's strictly up to an individual manager whether they will take coupons for clearance items, and if they do, whether they adjust them down or not.

Niddi

I have shopped at stores that will not allow you to use a coupon on items marked through on the barcode. Most of the stores ring it up as a taxable item and adjust the coupon to the price of the product, have never gotten overage.
Today I was told by a cashier at my regular store that they can no longer accept coupons for their clearance items because the register beeps since it's put in as a taxable item and they have been instructed that if a coupon beeps they are not to accept it (she said that they have experienced a lot of coupon fraud). I'm going to talk to the store manager to get her take on this before I get upset. I get a LOT of items from clearance and it would be a pity to no longer be able to use coupons on them.
It seems to me that quite a few stores have gotten strickter on their policy because of coupon fraud. It's too bad that it's ruining it for those of us that use them correctly.

I'm always looking for clearance stuff. I swear I walked in the store and looked at the clearance table and this display was not there. When I was walking out I saw the 75% sign so it got my attention then when I looked at the prices that were marked on them I just about cleared the shelf. I bought everything I thought I could use then left a little behind. This thing were priced between $.25 and $.50 each... This was a big win for me. I think I also have good luck because I frequent so many stores. I have noticed that some stores have better sales and have them quicker. You just have to know where to look at each store. I always make it a point to check out the clearance sections... Thats were you get the best deals.

My store posted a sign saying per corporate they could not accept coupons on clearance items. I am a Business major with a minor in marketing so I sent an email to cs and asked them WHY? I told them that they put items on clearance to get rid of them and make room for other merchandise. They get re-imbursed for the coupon. I am more likely to purchase an item if I can use a coupon. From a marketing stand point it makes more sense to allow me to use the coupon and get rid of the merchandise than to leave it sitting on the shelf. The new GM of my store called and told me that I could use a coupon on anything I wanted as long it was for that item. I sweetly asked him "So you are going to take down that sign that says I can't use coupons on clearance items?" He said " yes ma'am, as soon as we hang up the phone." He also asked me to come to him if I have any problems/concerns in the future. He said he was going to have to have a meeting with the district manager and fill out five pages of paperwork due to my email so if I would please come to him in the future he would take care of any concerns I might have. As a pp said it might be YMMV but that email to cs lit a fire under the new gm at my store. I try not to complain very often but that made no sense to me from a business stand point.

My CVS had 2 shopping carts full of Nyquil and Dayquil gelcaps, Sudafed PM, Advil, CVS brand cough drops, Airborne, Similasin and various other cold/allergy medicines. Stuff was marked down as low as 30 cents (90% off!), and not expired yet (some expires in January or early next year, but with cold/flu season starting mine will get used before it expires).

There were also kid's crayola electric toothbrushes, as well as some Hannah Montana coloring books.

I had that happen a couple of weeks ago when I tried to buy robitussin -_-

I'm hoping other states jump on board with California's rule where if you find something expired you get $2.

I was just coming to post about this and see that the clearance started last week.

Any way, yesterday I went to my local CVS to buy diapers (ran out no stockpile) well low and behold the clearance cart had 5 packs sizes 3 & 4. Not the sizes I need but a great gift for my SIL diaper and wipe sprinkle! Didn't want to be greedy so I only bought two. Got home and realized I should have bought the other two for my mother and sister to give as well. Well I looked around and what did I find 2/$3 off coupons making it $1.50 per pack YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now if only I could have been so lucky to find the sizes I need!

Well, consider yourself very lucky. :wavehi: The diaper clearance has been going on for a while now and most stores are cleared out by now. This was not a normal clearance because they never went from the regular clearance tags (they were on since August) to 25% and 50% off. They went from the normal price to 75% off. And it happened in the beginning of October. I have seen stores that had the diapers for normal price in the evening and by mid afternoon the next day they were cleared out because they switched the price in the morning. Thus, you are very lucky to have found 5 packs of diapers!

The Power Phantom rang up as 11.99 in my store, though-no clue if it would have produced ECB's.

And the Phenom bonus pack didn't ring up in my store either (they scanned it 3 different ways and the system had no idea what it was). There weren't any Phenom razors in the store so the manager also tried to ring it up as a regular Fusion-definitely don't let them do this to you, it's a rip off!

Trust me I am so happy I found what I did - makes a great baby shower gift!

I got one of the manual for $5. and the battery $6.00 this week and I got my $5.00 ECB back. Both clearance worked toward the ECB they have this week. One for me and one for DH card.

Which kind... Phantom, Phenom, MVP... LOL Are there more types? Did I miss any? It's a bit confusiing sometimes, all the different types of Gillette Fusion. TIA

I am sorry I dont remember the store Mgr said they are discontinuing them :shrug7:

I had that happen a couple of weeks ago when I tried to buy robitussin -_-

I'm hoping other states jump on board with California's rule where if you find something expired you get $2.

What rule is this?? I live in CA and don't know about this. But make sure you check the expiration date. I was going to buy some meds on clearance for pennies at CVS this week and then I saw that they expired in 2008!

Here's a link (http://www.legalnewsline.com/news/221436-cvs-pharmacy-settles-with-calif.-ag-agrees-to-2-coupon-policy) to the story (legalnewsline.com)

You get $2 ECB if you find expired product at CVS in CA. You might want to email customer service and print out something to show the manager at your CVS just to be safe, though. I'm assuming it's still in effect but it doesn't hurt to double check and have proof!

The $6 one was probably the Phantom, it rang up 11.99 (so it would be $6 clearanced) in my store and it was battery powered. They had the Phenoms and Phantoms on and endcap instead of with the regular razors, so I'm guessing they're the ones getting discontinued.

I was picking up contacts today at america's best, and there is a cvs nearby, so i thought i would check in there for those clearanced diapers, didn't find the diapers but i found a display of arm and hammer essential cleaners! The display was pretty full with about 15 bottles on it, so i got my raincheck for 3 from last year when they were faecb! This was the cvs at around 103rd and stateline. in clearance there were also a ton of the mr. clean car wash kits for 1.99, almost bought one until i found the a and h bottles. there were pampers splashers and huggies little swimmers for 2.00/pack!

P.s. kc shoppers i also went to the ward parkway target and got the comfort sport carseat that is ringing up for 12.50! I got the only one on the shelve, but they may have more in back so if you are in the area you may want to check that out too!

Happy shopping!:wavehi:

I was suprised to see these marked down at the one store which never seems to have any clearance stuff. It was only 50% off and already picked through, but maybe there will still be some stuff left when they mark it down further. It was on a side part of an endcap in the pharmacy section, not where I would have expected to find it.

I think i was in the right place at the right ime, because I fequent several stores ans haven't seen marked down more then 50%. The day I was there the manager was setting up new displays and the place was in a mess with boxes. I didn't see when I walked in the store which leads me to believe she was amarking down then, and then i grabbed eveything I thought I could use. I wish I could find more. My daughter is now using the face products since she is 14 and got her first pimple...

I bought a 60 ct Mega pack yesterday for $6.99 I used a $2 huggies coupon and a $2 cvs crt. I also bought a huggies wipes $3.59 - $1.50 coupon, and $2 cvs crt.

I paid $3.08 total I combined with some other stuff and used ECB's but In thought that was a damn good deal. I don't even have a baby. My daughters 14. My friends girlfirend is prego and these will help them out.

Yesterday I found the small 7 pound Tidy Cats scoopable litter on clearance for $1. Used the $1/1 coupon for free litter. (I think this was from the 10/4 RP) Tag on shelf said they were 75% off. Did a price check and found they were only $1.

These were on an end cap with the other clearance merchandise.
Just wish I had more coupons with me.

Today, I hit the diaper jackpot!

I went in to CVS with a friend to kill some time and saw a bunch of diapers on a rack. However, I scanned them and they came up full price. SO I asked the manager if they were about to clearance the diapers and he said they were excess diapers that just needed to be put up. Then he said Oh wait I have some in the back that I am going to mark off 75%. He brought up 8 big jumbo packs of huggies in sizes 3, 4, 5 and 6. I was sooooooo excited. I also had some $2/1 coupons and a new prescription gift card as well as Ecbs. I also used the buy $20 and get $4 ecbs from the holiday book. So...the moral of the story is keep asking!

Are you sure they were jumbo packs? The only packs that were clearanced were Mega (both Huggies and Pampers)? Were they $4.50 each on clearance?

My CVS had 23.2 oz tubs of Similace (Advance w/ Iron in the blue labeled containers) on clearance for 50% off. Originally $23.XX now $11.XX.

I bought one and they had a shelf full. This was in Limerick, PA. I doubt they'll last the day since we have a lot of CVSer's around here.

Be sure to scan the items even if the display still says only 50% off. I went to one store today and checked some items at the scanner. They were actually 90% off now and unmarked! I found some gift sets at the front of the store with the regular merchandise and not only were they 90% off, they each had $1/1 full size Vickery & clarke product coupons at the bottom where the sku is. They are small clear bags with 4 bath and body products. YMMV though, I went to another store and they were still ringing up 50%.

It shouldn't matter if your getting a good deal or not. They get reimbursed for the coupons from the manufacturer, so they are not loosing that money. Maybe mention that to them next time that they will get their money for the coupon back.

Sorry this is long but on the subject of q's & clearance, I sent an email to corporate and told them from a marketing point of view it makes no sense not to allow me to use a coupon on a clearance item. After all, they will get reimbursed for the coupon and the item is on clearance in an attempt to make room for other items on the shelves. Allowing me to use a coupon improves the chance that I am going to purchase the item therefore removing it from the shelf and achieving their goal.
My store had just gotten in a new GM. He called me on my cell phone and apologized that I had a problem. He told me that I could use a coupon on anything I wanted to as long as the q matched the product. He also asked me to come to him personally if I had any problems in the future because he had been contacted by the district manager about my email. He said that because of the email he was going to have to fill out five pages of paperwork so if I would please contact him in the future he would handle my problems himself. I asked him if he was going to go remove the sign from the clearance shelf that said "Per our corporate office we can not take coupons on clearance items." He said yes ma'am just as soon as we hang up the phone. Needless to say the next day the sign was gone. You might want to try it.

Speaking of not being able to use a coupon with clearance item, I remember recently seeing a sign in a store near me saying this. They had it posted right above the clearance endcap. I looked through what they had and there wasn't much, but it'd be a bummer if there was some good stuff there and they wouldn't let me use a coupon with it. They do get reimbursed so this "rule" doesn't make sense.

I was in my recently Longs turned CVS today and found Huggies and Pampers Mega packs of diapers in various sizes being marked down to $4.50/pack. I had a few $2/1 mq's and some $1.50/1 mq's as well as one $2/1 CVS CRT. The manager was there marking them down when I walked around the corner, and said that it was just old packaging so YMMV. I was super excited as I have 2 in diapers and another on the way in April. I had 7 coupons with me, so I used all of those and then came home and printed the ones from the Target website and got the rest of what I had and went back for 8 more packs. I had been wanting to wipe out the ecb on my hubby's card, but didn't want to waste them on something useless. I ended up paying just under $20 oop including tax for 15 packs of diapers after coupons and using up my ecb's, so not too bad. :BigHand:

Some were the red "Supreme" packages and some were the regular red and white "Snug & Dry" packages. All of the Pampers were the regular ones. I think it may have been just because they were a Long's conversion store, because I have since been in my other 2 CVS that were never Longs and they looked at me like I was crazy. Good Luck and Happy Shopping!

The mega package diaper clearance happened a few monts ago. It was for Huggies Snug and Dry (white packages) and for Papmpers Baby Dry (I believe.) I am amazed they had the Supreme type on clearance, but you might be right about the Longs to CVS conversion. All I can say is that you got very lucky. When a diaper clearance goes on, they fly off the shelves within minutes. If you are not there when they switch the price, you can kiss them good bye :hysterical: Even if you monitor the shelf tags for weeks, it does not guarantee that you will get them.
