Default You know the crescent roll veggie pizza appetizer....

Has anyone made this, by mixin the cream cheese with anything other than Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix?

I don't want to sound cheap, but I have a kitchen full of herbs and spices, and I don't want to spend $1 (or more!) on one packet of that stuff! My Christmas Munchie Table budget is TINY...and a dollar makes a difference!!!

If anyone has a recipe THAT THEY HAVE TRIED AND LIKED, please post it!!

    Thank you!!

depends on what kind of spices you have.... I sometimes use something called "Brady Street Cheese Sprinkle" from the spice house... it's basically a Romano cheese powder jazzed up with a little Italian spice.

Do you have any Dry Italian dressing base? That stuff is good on everything. I'd eat my husband's shoe if simmered long enough in that stuff LOL!!!

You could mix in a little ranch dressing with the cream cheese. The texture would be softer (creamier?) but I think it would be fine.

This is pretty close in taste to the Hidden Valley Dressing.

    1 tsp. chopped parsley
    1 tsp. garlic salt
    1 tsp. onion salt
    1 tsp. black pepper
    1 tsp. chopped onion, dried
    1 pt. mayonnaise
    1 pt. buttermilk
NO Buttermilk? add 1 tsp. vinegar or lemon juice to 1pint milk.

Mix well and refrigerate 1 hour before serving. Makes 1 quart.
    Hope this helps?:giggle7:

I just do a cream cheese, little mayo and a few sprinkles of dill and it's always tasty.

OK...that's what I was thinking at first. I also thought if I added a little garlic powder (we're nuts about garlic) it would work too.

I do this too. I could eat an entire trat of this stuff. This post made me think of making it for Christmas - it's a good filler between lunch and dinner.

ohh good idea to have it on Christmas I could do red and green veggies, and do the crust in the shape of a wreath.
