I personally like the load time. MUCH quicker. Many times I wouldn't visit if I didn't have a lot of time to sit here because I would lose new posts from having to get up after awhile. With it moving MUCH faster, the load time to do that extra click is STILL SO much faster!

Is there any possibility of creating a new skin with the old links on them, so we have a choice?
(preferably old boring grey)

Mike,

Scroll to the bottom and look to the left for a drop down box. In it you will find "plain ol borring grey" or a choice of other skin colors. My personal favorite is the "work friendly" colors.

the subforum links are not something we can put on a skin it is more indepth on the software than that.
