We are looking for anyone that would like to help with the Coupon Database

Hey everyone,

As many of you may know the Hotcouponworld Coupon Database is one of the largest and oldest coupon databases on the net. It all started way back in 2004 (before there was a HCW) on another site that I was a super mod for. It all began as just me and my excel spreadsheet (which another site even stole and claimed as their own at one point...oh the drama) and it has evolved over time into what you see now!

Currently the folks that help with the coupon database is a small team of just 5 people and to be honest we fall behind quite often verifying all those new coupons and fixing the reported ones. And so I am looking for some volunteers that would like to help keep it running smoothly and get things fixed faster.

My requirements are:

You must be a HCW member for at least 1 year and you must be very familiar with the coupon database and how it works and how to add coupons correctly to it. You must have actually read the How To Use The Coupon Database page and just "get it"

Perks are:

You will get a cool new user title under your username that says "Coupon Database Editor"

And you will have all sorts of bells and whistles that no one else has in the coupon database including the ability to mass upload multiple coupons at one time!

You get the satisfaction of being a part of making the Hotcouponworld coupon database THE BEST on the net (I already think it is...but I am prejudiced)

A Database Editor only forum so that the team can communicate with one another in one central location.

My main goal is to have one person to be in charge of each type of "Source" in the coupon database. For example someone to be in charge of Blinkies, someone to be in charge of Booklets, someone to be in charge of "Inserts" etc. And you verify all new entries in that source to be sure they are entered in correctly and you would handle the reported entries in that source as well.

A few questions that others' may have too.

How many hours is this likely to require each week? I am sure that it varies depending on the coupon source, but are we talking 2 or 20?

Can you give more detail on how the verification process works? Since no one gets every iteration of each insert Q or (I dare to dream) gets their hands on every non-insert, how would we verify an entry?

I have been considering volunteering, and I am sure others have too, but want to fully understand what I would be committing to. I am sure you don't want someone to get started and then back out.

Time wise...20-30 mins a day. Depending on the source you pick. Currently I need helpers for the following sources:

• CellFire
• Entertainment Book
• Other
• P&G eSaver
• Prescriptions
• Rain Check
• Receipt Coupon
• Shortcuts
• Single Page Flyer
• Special Promo
• Store Ad Flyer
• Try-Me-Free

I sent this list out to three members this AM so if anyone wants to PM me about helping pick your top two or three choices. :)

We have someone doing inserts already BUT to answer your question about how they would do that when the regional variations. The real answer to that is that we don't verify that the coupon actually exists...if a member enters it we assume that they are not lying about it so we just make sure the entries are spelled correctly and formatted properly. Of course since the database is 100% human entered collection of coupons and rebates and stuff there is going to be errors, both on the parts of the member that kindly add coupons and on the editors parts when we don't catch an error.

Hope that answers any questions you may have and we are still looking for volunteers that wish to help with the sources listed above. Some of the sources listed are easy ones to take on as there are not a lot of entries (Entertainment Book, Other, Prescriptions, Rain Check, Receipt Coupon,
Single Page Flyer, Store Ad Flyer) and some of the sources are a bit more time consuming or complicated (CellFire, P&G eSaver, Shortcuts - Need someone that can check those sites on a montly basis and upload the new coupons) and then we have (Special Promo & Try-Me-Free - A little more complicated because they are mail in offers and folks don't always enter these into the coupon database correctly)
