Birthday re: HCW's Valentine's Day Contest - WINNERS in Post #277

We just had to sell our bedset to move since our landlord is getting foreclosed on & we had 30 day notice (not even in writing). We need smaller furniture for the place were going to rent so I'd like to get this nightstand (at leaset one of the set) South Shore Furniture - Night Stand - Furniture Back Bay Collection Night Stand

So yeah... I think if I actually let my frugal side take-over I'd say I need a crock-pot pretty desperately.... However, it's late and I've decided that I am gonna take you up on your offer to pick something just for me...

I actually found this hard to answer, as I'll be blogging about in the morn... I don't think much about things I want.... anyway, I decided. My favorite thing to do when life gets overwhelming is to disappear into a computer/video game. I know, I can hear moms everywhere gasping... but there's just nothing like building your own incredibly organized and beautiful (let's forget that it's fake) little world... even if it's only an hour while the baby naps. Let's face it, life will never be as easy as a video game.

So, this game Spore has been out a while, but who can afford it??? Here's the link... It's $48 something at Amazon...

My funny story is this, it's not about Christmas, it about Valentine's Day... My husband and I decided that Valentine's Day is too expensive a time to be buying gifts that will be on sale the week after... and it's absoLUTEly impossible to get a table at a restaurant... so we decided a long time ago that we'd celebrate St. Patrick's Day instead. So EVERY valentine's day I inSIST that I'm fine with not exchanging gifts and we usually end up volunteering to baby-sit so another couple can go out... and then EVERY year at about noon on Valentine's Day I get sad that he didn't do anything for me!!! I know, I know, how much more of a girl could I be??? Anyway, the point is, last year he brought me flowers and I'm pretty sure he's gonna do something this year too.

One thing I would really love but never dream of buying (as I can't justify the cost) would be a cool pair of boots like these:

The thing about Valentines Day is my husband (of 18 years) never just surprises me - he asks me what I want, and that is what I get. This year, I have not told him a thing, so we will see what he comes up with!

HI all.. Well this is my first time posting. But I could really use something for myself. I found EXACTLY what I NEED. And here is my story. I got a NEW MIcrowave/toaster cobo for X-mas 2007. Well by June of 2008, the microwave part quite working, and I have been jerked around by the Manufacturer and have not been able to get them to fix it. Now it is out of its one year warrienty. I have also been seperated from my spoce since August of 2008, adn I have a 8 year old daughter. It would be so much easier if I had a microwave to warm up all her little snack like Pizza rolls and such instead of having to wait on the OVEN to heat up. I just never realised how dependent I was and how convienent one can be until I have been with out one for so long. So this would be a gift for me... One that I COULD TRUELY USE.. THANKS ALL!!!

I was all set to find something fun just for me, so I went to the "shop" tab to find something I wouldn't buy for myself. Clicked on the "miscellaneous jewelry" section to find that the first entry is a crockpot! What?! Is this a subliminal message that I'm destined to be frugal, even when I try not to be? :-D HA!

I'll try for something else that sounds interesting, even though there was no picture:

Well, I found something that I'd like and would never in a million years buy for myself. It's a little girl's jewelry box with the twirling ballerina that looks almost identical to the one I had when I was a girl. Mine was broken when it fell off a dresser over 25 years ago, and I moped and whined for several months after. My mom was unable to find another one and she looked high and low at the time. It's not frugal, practical or for anyone else!

I would totally love a new Kitchenaid attachment for my mixer. I saw this juice extracter attachment and fell in love with it.

I LOVE my Kitchenaid and I'm always looking for new ways to use it!

    GE 5-2548 Battery x 5

I know it seems like a goofy thing to have on my wish list. I'd always rather have something that blinks that something that twinkles (give me electronics over diamonds any day of the week!).

Actually I need new batteries for my phones; I have 5 extension and all the batteries are going kaput. Not a good thing since the reason I have this set is so that I can answer my business line from anywhere in the house. (nobody needs to know I'm washing the dog when they call...) With the great deal found, five of them only make it half way to the prize limit, so I've added a second item: CSS - The Missing Manual (English).

Ugh, why do they only sell the super expensive Nike shoes? Took forever to find a decent pair that would look normal. lol

Running shoes so I can get back in shape for me. Boris wouldn't mind a few more walks either but my sneakers are about done in from living on a dirt road and being 2yrs old.

    Movies - Wanted - DVD - 2008
Something to keep the DH busy so I can go at my pace and not Energizer bunny speed.

I really would have liked tons of other things, but I find the items available sometimes really restrictive, although decently priced.

I keep eyeing this in stores but can't justify buying it!
