This is going to make it difficult to find the Q's we are looking for when we need to clip for use or trade. Is someone correcting those entries?
I also saw that a few of the entries start with the number "1" instead of the name of the product. For those of us who like to sort our lists alphabetically, this makes it impossible. While I'm glad we can all make entries to the database, I think we need to stress the correct format. | This is very important indeed and I am not sure how to stress that people take the time to search the coupon database before entering and to enter the coupons in the proper format. Much of our database admin's time is spent verifying and correcting coupons when it would be better served doing other things like bringing you all new awesome features. I spent just about all day verifing new insert coupons and checking for duplicates and fixing errors.
Please please let me stress to members here to - SEARCH the coupon database before entering coupons (When searching please leave off ALL punctuation and charachters. Example: Search for Kellogg not Kellogg's, O Cel O not O-Cel-O, Jell O not Jell-O, S W Beans not S&W Beans, etc)
- Start all new entries with a brand name (Not "Any" or "Save" or numbers) If the coupon is not for a brand then start with the product it is good for, like a winetag for cheese, enter "Cheese, Any".
- Buy X Get X Free coupons are not FREE coupons choose the BXGY option in the value drop down.
- PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO FIND THE SOURCE OF THE INSERT before entering it. The source is the insert type. Such as SmartSource is SS, RedPlumb is RP, Proctor & Gamble is PG, General Mills is GM, etc. And enter this information in the following format MM-DD-YY Source (Example: 11-09-08 SS)
- If you still do not know what the insert source is do a search and see if the coupon you have matches closely a coupon already in the database by the description and expiration date. Chances are if you have a coupon for "Brand XYZ - 11-09-08 SS $1.00/1 expires 12/31/2008" and there is a coupon already in the database for "Brand XYZ $0.75/1 - 11-09-08 SS expires 12/31/2008 they came from the same insert. So use that insert info when entering your different value.
- If you just have a single coupon that is on insert type paper and you are not 100% positive that it is an insert coupon and you don't know the source check to see if that coupon could possibly be from a Magazine or other source. Many unknown insert source coupons are entered in and they turn out to be magazine coupons because the paper is similar.
- If after all that and you still don't know the insert source enter the coupon as 00-00-00 Unknown. This allows us a search term to look for so that we can fix these coupons if we find out the actual insert source/date.
- Last of all please make sure you enter the correct date in the insert field. Today I had quite a few entered in as 11-08-08, 11-08-09, 11-09-09, etc instead of the correct date of this last Sunday 11-09-08

I really want to say thanks to everyone for entering coupons, really I do appriciate it. The HCW Coupon Database is the biggest one (and the original on the net) and really is 100% member contributed. There have been around a hundren new entries a day most days since the new database has gone into effect. But we need everyones help to keep things consistant!

Can I correct it??? I also still do not know the source. Can anyone help??
Thanks and I apologize. | Report the coupon if you make a mistake and let us know what needs to be fixed. I think there were a few reports today by you And thanks to the other members that reported some incorrectly entered inserts too. That helped big time filling in the missing blanks on some of those coupons!

| Re: New Coupon Database is here! I also want to say thank you for all those who put things in the database...
I did use the database for most of the coupons and noticed the wrong date as well but if you are using what someone else has put in and don't notice that it's wrong as in the wrong date... Then it seems you contribute even more to the problem.
*** In light of all that*** A huge question!
If let's say Quaker Oatmeal is an "SS" is it always going to be an "SS" WHEN referring to the insert source.
This could help some who have a similar coupon but aren't sure of the *insert source* maybe the EXP is changed etc....
IF QUAKER is always an insert source SS. Then it could be assumed when *NOT* knowing the insert source that it would be as the other Quaker coupons.
If it's not always the same insert source than forget all that blah blah I just said.
Note... I do understand that not all Quaker coupons are always insert sources. I'm just referring to the fact that I knew it was an insert source just not which one exactly.... |

A recent example is the Nestle Toll House morsels coupon. It was in the Red Plum insert on 09-14-08, but in the Smartsource insert on 11-02-08. |

| Re: New Coupon Database is here! In the instance of there is the exact coupon already in the database with the same description and expiration date but you are not sure of the insert info I would say that it is safe to assume that that week all the "Quaker" coupons were in the SS.
But as pennywatcher said above the specific brand might be in a SS one week and then the next time it comes out it could be in the RP. But if you are unsure if the coupon was a SS or RP but there are similar entries in the database already for that coupon (with the same expiration date) it is safe to assume the coupon you have came out in that same insert.

| Re: New Coupon Database is here! OK I have searched but cannot find the answer for 2 days now I have triedto enter new Qs. When I select submit it gives the error of not putting in a correct amount off. As in $.55/1. I did put the correct entry into the field but cannot submit. What am I doing wrong?:shrug7: I have submitted several other Qs so I "think" I'm doing it right.
The following is the message I am getting:
Please specify a valid currency amount and quantity,
like $0.50/2.
