QUESTION We have an Aldi's!

I just found out today at work. So tell me, the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Do they only carry Aldi brands?

If they do have name brands, do they take qs?

Do they double qs? Up to what amount?

TIA!

They carry off-brands but they aren't called "Aldi brand".... they don't take coupons. I don't go to Aldi's much so I can't help too much, sorry. I don't think I've seen any name brand stuff there. I hear they have cheap milk, I know their bread is cheap, but DH and I run a gas station and used to resell their bread and had several complaints about the quality.... I think the "brand name" of the bread was L'Oven Fresh. I have heard their canned goods are as good as name brand. Also I have eaten some of the cereal they sell and it is not too bad. Hope that helps some.

They will on an occasion have some name brand stuff, but since they won't take coupons it doesn't really matter. The quality of thier products isn't bad except I agree about the bread , I would NEVER buy bread from there. I use to shop at Aldi's, but now for the most part I can do just as well somewhere else with coupons. Also , you have to bag your own groceries, which I wouldn't mind if the savings were enough to make it worth my while, but I don't think thats the case here. HTH

You have to bring your own bags--or BUY them at Aldi's. Some people will look around the store as they shop & pick up empty boxes to use as their "bags". You need a quarter for the cart (you get it back when you return the cart). A lot of their stuff is ok--there are some things I WILL NOT buy from there again.

Their bread is one of 2 "cheap" brands that my better half & I actually like. Can't believe you guys think it's that bad (but I'm used to cheap bread).

I mainly go there for fresh fruit and vegetables. Much cheaper than the grocery stores in our area

The eggs are cheaper and the egg substitute. Also the flavored creamer (like Coffee-mate), the canned mushrooms, cat litter, fresh fruits and vegetables. If you don't have coupons, I think you do better at Aldi but if you can often do better at other stores with coupons. I go about every 2 weeks but really don't spend that much. Some things do not taste that good (like their brand of Canned Cool Whip - had to throw it out). Other things are okay. I have not bought their bread so I can't comment on that.

I shopped at Aldi a lot before I discovered couponing. We never had problems with most of their stuff, including the bread. The only issues I had were that sometimes the produce didn't seem to last very long. It got to the point where the only produce I would get there was things that I knew would be eaten within a couple days, like bananas. If it was something that I needed to last longer, like potatoes or onions, it always started to go bad before I could use it all. But since they don't take coupons, I haven't been there in probably at least 7-8 months - I've been doing much better at other stores. If I do ever go back to Aldi at some point, it would probably be for things like cream soups and canned fruit/veggies.

I usually take their ad and price match all the fruits and veggies at WM. I rarely stop in there, only when I have a mystery shop there.

I went for the first time yesterday. Milk was $1.49 a gallon, eggs were .79 a dozen. It reminded me of a big Save A Lot. I didn't need a lot but, went to check it out. I did buy their Lacura Q10 Night Cream for $4.99 a jar after reading some of the reviews on it. I use it last night and it immediately soaks into your skin and is not greasy.
