Aldi Reflections 1/11

I went to Aldi today. Here are my random thoughts:
they seem to sell marshmallows year round
and almond bark
but not Raisins & Spice oatmeal (my DH is sad)
I bought three new things to try:
spaghetti sauce
batteries
disinfecting wipes
Milk is cheaper at CVS this week. Eggs are cheaper at Walgreens this week.
I saw the heavy duty cast iron enameled cookware on clearance but had no extra cash (probably good because I don't need it)
I saw a great kids' birthday gift for $11.99 it was a fake wood playset with a serrated (safe) saw and instructions to make several things including a helicopter
no 100% juice in single serve containers so I bought the compare to Capri Sun
Gotta love Aldi, I spent under $80 for a week's worth of groceries and HBA for my family of five
the $1.99 foliage plants were so tiny I laughed at them
frozen berries seem to be a good buy, I'm making smoothies for breakfast with my magic bullet so I stocked up on these
the deodorant looks interesting, I even smelled both women's varieties (shower fresh and powder) and would try it but I have a pretty good stockpile

Their frozen berries are a great price and I LOVE that they are no sugar added. We tried the strawberries and I will continue to buy them and try the other fruits.

The spaghetti sauce isn't bad, we have used it and find it comparable to other brands.

My son is getting that set(wood construction) for his birthday from my parents...the set they got him is the little bit bigger one that Aldi had back before Christmas.

Thanks for pointing out the berries! I've never even noticed them at Aldi. I like the spaghetti sauce, but usually stock up on name brands at other stores when they are on sale for $1 (or less). I'm sad that they only sell cream during the holidays. I love their gifts/seasonal items section ~ interesting things at good prices. You just never know what you'll find

I do wish they would sell their spreadable cheese year round...it's soooo yummy! The lack of selection, short shelf life on produce, and the seasonal products are the only place I find Aldi comes up short. You can't beat their dairy. I hit it for loss leaders like, butter, milk, and crackers, but I fill in my shopping with three other markets. If I had to depend on Aldi exclusively, I wouldn't be a happy camper....oh, and the ladies deodorant is good. It's comparable to Secret.
