I use my debit card since I don't usually carry cash. but yes I've seen several people who didn't know.
I shop at Aldi several times a month and have done so for two years. I keep watching to see if I finally get to witness someone checking out with no cash but I haven't seen it yet.
I get a little nervous in line, afraid that *I* might be the one who doesn't have enough cash to pay.
I need to shed my credit card feeling of security I guess.
When I was a cashier at Meijer I had someone put less than a dollar's worth of plums on a credit card, he claimed he never carried cash, so I know there are some people out there that exist pretty much cash-free.
Have you ever seen someone at Aldi that apparently didn't know they don't take credit cards?

Our Aldi accepts CCs but there is a surcharge so I use a Visa debit or if the total is below $20, I pay cash to avoid the surcharge.
Ours doesn't accept CC's but there is no surcharge even on debit no matter how much you spend.

Me.
I never use cash unless I don't have another option.
My cc (American Express Blue Cash) gives 5% cash back on groceries, drug stores and gas stations. We pay it off monthly without fail so it works best to use it this way for us.
My debit card has to be used 12 times per month to get the interest on our checking acct. (credit union), so at Aldi's and other places that don't take AE, I use the debit.
Using the cc or debit card makes tracking spending easier as well. So even if it's less than a dollar, I charge,![]()
Aldi's just moved to town, so I wasn't aware of that. I knew they didn't take coupons, so I haven't really seen a reason to wander in.
Aldi's here only accepts debit, cash and food stamps. There's been a few times that I've seen people with a cart loaded with food check out and when they try to pay, find out that they can't use a credit card. The employees suspend the transaction and hold the cart while the people leave to get money to pay their bill.

I didn't know until my DH told me...he'd been there several times before I ever went the first time. I honestly think they need to put a big fat sign on the door concerning this.
I very rarely have cash. Too easy to track finances and rack up the % back on my cc that we pay in full each month. We get roughly $50 quarterly, and my credit union sure isn't paying me $200 interest annually.
