Embarrassed in Aldi's

As I was leaving the store, I noticed a coin on the customer side of the register in a closed checkout lane. I bent down to pick it up and the check out employee working at the only open register (the one I had just gone through) calls out, "Don't touch that money. It belongs to the cashier who was working there." She didn't say it was the store's money or the customer who dropped it.

I was embarrassed because she yelled this out in front of the other customers like I was doing something wrong (she was two lanes away). Is it Aldi company policy that if you drop money on the floor, it becomes the property of store personnel? Is this part of their employee compensation package?

I don't see that I did anything wrong.

Don't even worry about it. I'm sure anyone who heard her was thinking what an obnoxious, rude twit she was and tgat she embarrassed herself.

Beside, if she knew the coin was there and was so anxious about it maybe she should have picked it up herself. The fact that she was so acutely aware of this coin is weird.

What was it, a silver $?

Wow a quarter...like the cashier was going to wrote up for that. If it was the cashiers she should have picked up when she dropped it anyways-lazy much.

I'm not trying to take over your thread. But, I remember when I was bout 6 or 7 I was walking through like an outside sort of mall.
There was an ice-cream stand and we were waiting in line. I noticed a man dropped a $5 dollar bill and I bent over to hand it to him and he grabbed my wrist and said "That's my money!"
I'll never forget how that made me feel.

Some people are just rude and down right ignorant to what could possibly happen. Dont give it another thought and dont worry about it. She is the one who is the fool, not you.

The coin that the cashier was so possessive about was a dime.

This money must have been dropped by a customer while they were paying. It sounded like the employees consider any money found on their lane to be their property.

I would ignore and continue on my day! I have had so many rude cashiers and others I just don't pay attention anymore.

If it belonged to the cashier that was working there, why didn't she take it with her when she left? Sorry but I would have said to her, "Not anymore" and put it in my purse and walked out.
