Default Anyone Ever Returned a Product?

Aldi has always stated they have a "Double Guarantee" on all of their products. If you don't like it, it's bad, even if it is EMPTY it says to bring it back. I grew up on Aldi and hubby is slowly growing accustomed to some of their products...actually begged me to go back for more wheat bread since the price was good and he loved the taste.

But anyway, he had picked up a bottle of their honey bbq sauce a while back, saying it looked good. We used it as a dipping sauce for some chicken tenders and both didn't like it. So I put it in my car for my next trip to Aldi. I take it to the register when I'm checking out and tell the cashier that I'd like to return it, so she has the manager come over. She gives me this dirty look and asks for my receipt. I don't have it since we bought it months ago and after I check my debit card statement I dispose of my receipts. Who thinks to save a grocery receipt? She said she'd do it "one time" and took it as cash off my order. I was so angry I didn't know what to say so just did it...the cashier was nice, but not the manager.

So what, I'm supposed to save all of my Aldi receipts in case I don't like a product months from now?? Nothing on their guarantee or website says a receipt is required....and what about the double guarantee? Granted it was only 87 cents, but seriously. What sort of treatment is that? Should I write to corporate (I believe I saved the receipt I returned it on) just to say how rude she was and the receipt issue, loyal shopper, what about double, etc?

I've returned things there before without a receipt and didn't have any problem at all. It's probably another one of those things where it just depends who's working, how much training they have, whether their husband took out the trash last night, etc., etc., etc. ... But I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad experience! I don't know if I'd write to corporate unless you're just so angry you can't get past the way she treated you. Maybe give her the benefit of the doubt once, and if she ever does it again, write away!

I live in a small town and see the same cashiers week after week, so they know me. I have returned stuff without ever even bringing the item into the store. I never tried the double guarantee where you get your money back and a new item that is the same as your returned. I figure if I didn't like it the first time I won't like it the second.

I am glad I saw this thread! I bought some pudding cups at Aldi the other day and they taste AWFUL! There is a chemical aftertaste that sticks with you for a while. I think I will bring them back tomorrow!

I recently bought a bag of potatoes at Aldi's, 2 days later I went to use them, and they were bad.. veeeeryyyy bad. So we threw them away, but kept the upc. My next trip, I took my receipt and the upc and told them what happened. They informed me that they ALWAYS want the product back, even nasty stinky potatoes. Rather then giving me money back, they let me take a new bag, no charge.

I've only taken one thing back to Aldis-and it was potatoes like the previous poster. I bought them and realized as I went to use them THAT NIGHT that they were moldy and disgusting.
We took them back that night...receipt and stinky potatoes in hand, ready to do battle if need be to get a refund or new potatoes that weren't moldy.
They waved us back to the potato section and said just get new ones. We did. Left the icky ones by the register as instructed and they didn't even ring the new ones up-just said to take them. I had no idea about the "double guarantee" but if I ever have a problem again, you can bet that I will ask for the double guarantee. If it were the bbq sauce and we just didn't like it or something, I probably would've just tossed it, but if it's something that was "bad" like the potatoes, I think the double guarantee is nice. Get your new potatoes and your money back for having to drive across town to return them...I like it.

I've taken back large can of pintos (hard, even after I cooked them 3 hrs in crock pot, german noodles (horrible), german linseed bread(bad), and milk-their milk tends to go bad quickly especially in summer. Never have I gotten double-guarantee,never was mentioned. Cashiers are usually very busy and there is no office to take items back,so you must stand there, and interupt people checking out.

I don't know why Aldi wouldn't take it back without a receipt - its OBVIOUS which products they sell because they all have that "Double Guarantee" on all of their products label. I will have to try something I am not sure I will like and take it back if I don't just to test it out!

I have also returned products that were "bad" with no problems, but never tried to return anything we didn't like the taste of. I have also run into the rude checker when I inquired about the "Double Back" guarantee, as it wasn't offered up. Got a snear, and was told to "pick up two then." (of the returned items). Not too nice, got judged, got snipped at. I decided I would let a manager-type person know when I got home, but there was NO PHONE NUMBER listed in the directory. Called directory assistance, and was told the same thing ... no listing! I also agree with the lack of any kind of 'courtesy desk' ... I was apologizing over and over to the people I held up while I inquired with the checker about my returned item. Prices are good, courtesy is not! Thanks to the member who mentioned the bad pudding ... I'd also add spaghetti sauce to the 'icky' list.. Bottom line: ASK FOR THE DOUBLE BACK GUARANTEE
