QUESTION Albertsons NW: What is Right? Doublers Policy anyone know it?

I am confused about doublers.....I used them this past tuesday to get Bliss candy and trial size pantene shampoo conditioner.....long story short....i think they gave me overage because the shampoo range up 25 cents instead of a dollar and so when they doubled the coupon i got 75 cents towards the two bags of candy.....i told the cashier the conditioner was ringing up wrong and he persisted saying that even if the shelf said $1 if it rings up a quarter it rings up a quarter and thats that. So I am wondering....does anyone know the true albertson doubler policy? I hope this is posted in an ok spot?! I wouldlike to follow the rules....as soon as i know what they are!

In that case I think the cashier just didn't care. Usually if the one coupon is more than what the product rand up for they should have adjusted the original coupon down and not allowed the use of a doubler on that item. It does say on most of the coupons that it can not excede the price of the item (ie no overage).

Since you tried to go by the rules and the cashier persisted I would just say to you that you did all you can and it worked out in your favor whether you intended it to or not

I agree- the cashier didn't want to deal with it. I usually tell the cashier if a coupon should be doubled to less than $1 or if the coupon, at regular face value, is more than the item. Depending on the store and the amount, I would say a good 50% just put the coupon through as is.

Whenever I've used a coupon that is above the amount of the product, the register beeps and they have to call a supervisor over. I figured they'd adjust it down, but they take the full value of the coupon and give the overage. The supervisor said it's because they get reimbursement for face value and I spend enough there anyway.

My Albertsons allows overage on Manf. Coupons but not with doubles, they adjust the double to the price of the product.

So if I have lets say

Trial size bar of soap that is $0.99 and I have a $1.00/1 manf. coupon they will allow the $0.01 overage

If I had used a clippable double coupon the value that they enter would only be a $0.01.

If I instead had a $0.50/1 manf. Coupon AND a double coupon they would double the $0.50/1 coupon to $0.49 since $0.50+$0.49 = $0.99

I believe that is the correct way for them to handle it since the double coupons state that the coupon cannot exceed the price of the item (no overage). However if you point it out to the cashier and they want to give you the overage that is on them not you at that point. I had a cashier the other day that gave me the full "up to" value on some free item coupons I was using even though the actual price of the item was about $0.30 less. I pointed it out to her but she said oh well, I will write the full value and we will get reimbursed for it.

Who am I to argue?
