SAD Albertsons NW: Doublers that create overage= NO!

I went to do a "trial" run tonight to do a couple doubler transactions. I was told that I could not use my $1/1 Vitamin Water coupon because they are on sale for $1.39, so with the Doubler I would get $.61 overage - "we are not paying you to take the water." No problem, I ask to go the $.39 for the doubler - Nope.

I was told ANYTHING that they would be "paying" me for was off limits - even if only $0.01.

Any thoughts? I was mostly disappointed because I wanted free vitamin water - but she wasn't going for it no matter what!:shrug7:

This happened to me today. I got Coffee-Mate Creamer that is on sale 3-$5. I used 3 $1/1 from the manf website and 3 doublers and the cashier told me he could not give me $1 back, so I threw in a pack of gum and it was fine. When you know that it will create an overage throw a cheap item in there. Some cashiers will adjust, others won't.

The doublers are supposed to make an item free, not generate overage. The cashier should have made the doubler amount .39. They can enter any amount on the doubler, .39 would have made your item free.

This is what I thought too. I understand not doing overage (I did have plently to soak it up anyway) - but I don't understand why she couldn't just make the doubler $.39. She said, "It has to be $1.00." I explained that on the doubler it says, "Up to $1"....They are scared at our Albertsons. There are 2 in my area where employees have been fired for how they enter coupons. I am more than happy to play by the rules if I know what they are! I just don't want to take all my time coming up with the scenarios to maximize my money and find out that they have changed again when I get up to the cashier.

Thanks for all your thoughts!!

This happened to me yesterday. I was using four 1.00 off box of Kelloggs coups = they were priced at 1.50 wyb 4. so my doublers (three of them) should have been for .50 each. the checker tells me they can only enter them as 1.00. although on a previous transaction (identical) the self check lady pulled me out of line to check me out - since it was dead in there... and did my doublers for .50 each (all three).

So instead the checker did 2 doublers at 1.00 each - .50 too much! I complained and asked if she was sure that was right.... i explained i was getting too much off - but she insisted. i didn't fight with her because i had other transactions i was planning to do and there was only one checker and it was dead.... no way i would get someone else... I DON'T REALLY CARE - BUT IT'S GOTTA BE SOMETHING CONSISTANT! otherwise i can't plan, and it's a crap shoot - then we (i) feel like an idiot when it doesn't come out right.... our checkers honestly dont seem to mind us couponers when we know what the heck we are doing... but if i get flustered or mixed up - the checkers seem to turn on me

sorry, looks like this turned into a full on rant! please forgive....
