I have a question: why is it that my inserts do not have the same coupons as what's listed in the database???? Like the Mission tortillas. I have 3 copies of the Smartsource insert from 8/9/09 and that coupon is not in there. This has been the case for like the last 5 to 7 coupons I have searched for. I just don't get it. Does anyone else run into this? It's very frustrating!

Not everyone gets the same coupons unfortunately...We in Portland sometimes miss out some of the freebies, sometimes we get the coupon but its 30 cents on 2 instead of 75 on 1!! Unfortunately its the name of the game

Insert coupons very from region to region. It is just the name of the game.

Default Re: Albertsons NW ad : Oct. 21-27

Has anyone come across this situation? I went to Albertsons today to buy the Litehouse caramel dips. I had 3- $1.00 off coupons and had my doublers to go with it. When I walked into the produce section, I saw a tear pad with this on it:

SAVE $2.00 on APPLES!
*BUY any TWO (2) LITEHOUSE Caramel Dips in one transaction and receive $2.00 OFF Apples INSTANTLY with this coupon.

When I went through the line, the cashier told me that I couldn't use the last $1.00 coupon because the $2.00 coupon takes place of the 3rd caramel dips. So I went to ask another assistant about it because I wanted to clarify exactly what the policy was on this. He said that since it is a "Litehouse" coupon, this coupon is in essence money off of the caramels so I couldn't use another manufactured coupon with it but he said that he would check on it just in case. I called Litehouse and they said that since it is a "Litehouse" coupon that it really is considered doubling up on a coupon if I used the $2.00 cpn and the $1.00 cpn.

I disagree with this concept. If a coupon says it is money off of something else other than the items that you buy, shouldn't you be able to use manufactured coupons on the original items that you buy? I told the marketing dept. that they are deceiving the consumer with the language on this coupon. The lady was very nice and took my name and said she would send me some coupons. What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks,

Betty

This is always a YMMV situation - but I believe those apple coupons had some sort of wording (can't remember exactly what, I'd never seen the wording before) that fairly clearly excluded them from being used with the other coupons as well.

Here's the exact wording:
SAVE $2.00 on APPLES!
*BUY any TWO (2) LITEHOUSE Caramel Dips in one transaction and receive $2.00 OFF Apples INSTANTLY with this coupon.

(fine print)
CONSUMER: This coupon can be redeemed only for the brand specified. Coupon cannot be transferred, reproduced, sold or exchanged. Any other use constitutes fraud.
RETAILER: Litehouse will reimburse you for the face value of this coupons plus 8 cents handling provided you the consumer have completed with the terms of the offer. Void if copied, transferred, prohibited or restricted. Consumer must pay sales tax. Any other use constitutes fraud. Cash value 1/100 cents. For redemption mail to: LITEHOUSE INC. CMS Dept. 77661, 1 Fawcett Drive, Del Rio, TX. 78840 LIMIT: ONE COUPON PER PURCHASE. NOT SUBJECT TO DOUBLE COUPONING.

I called LITEHOUSE and they of course told me Albertsons view point because it is a promotion that they are doing only with Albertsons so they said that the intent is to take money off of the caramels and apples but I told them that that is not what the coupon states. It says $2.00 off apples wyb 2 Litehouse caramels. I also said that it is very deceiving to a customer especially one that uses coupons. They apologized to me and took my name and address and said they would send me some coupons for the misunderstanding. They didn't even know if the store would even get reimbursed if they would have taken all of my manufactured coupons along with the apple coupon. They were very nice about it and the main assistant did understand my viewpoint but was trying to follow what they were being told as a general rule. The part that I put in bold print is the only part of the coupons that would make me assume that maybe this coupon should be for the caramels and apples instead of apples only but still very deceiving.

It's the DOUBLE COUPONING wording - to me this seemed to be referring to the pairing of this coupon with the ones distinctly for the caramels. Just my interpretation of course.

I understand your frustration - if it'd been me, and they'd offered to send coupons, I probably would have made a comment about not being able to use them... ;0)

I'm not sure if I'm understanding their reasoning but at my Albies they have never let me use coupons on an item if I have another coupon that also includes that item.

For example if I had a coupon for "get $1 off cheese wyb wheat thins" and I had a couon for ".50/1 wheat thins" most people here would say I could use both and at other stores I could but at Albies they would say no because the first coupon covers both items.

My store has always been this way, drives me crazy.

It depends on what inserts the newspaper company buys. The Oregonian has (I guess you could call them "deluxe") versions of the coupon inserts that are different from the Statesman Journal (Salem area). The SmartSource inserts in the Statesman are about 4 coupons and mostly worthles ads. I usually grab a few of them on Sunday, but I grab a bunch of the Oregonian. There have been weeks where I could only find the Albertsons doubles in the Statesman Journal, so I always check both Sunday papers. *I'm in Woodburn... almost the midpoint between Portland and Salem*

Yes but why can't the Oregonian buy the really good ones
