Albertson's being sold to Publix!

At least they're building some Aldi's in the Bay area so there will be some more competition. I'm stoked about the one on 66th Street in Pinellas Park since this is on my way home from work!

Hi! Good to see you on here! It was good to see you Saturday at Publix! I know what you mean about the Albis on East Bay.....the smell is terrible! I only go in if it is a killer deal! Hope to see you again soon and good luck with your pregnancy! :o)

My dad was with his company for 25 years if that makes you feel ANY better at all. It was really hard for him to start over because he couldn't even find a job in his field. He had to go back to school and everything. I doubt that'd happen with you, there are pharmacies at every corner over here!

I like shopping at Publix better than Albertsons, but Albertsons always has good deals on meat. They almost always have boneless, skinless chicken breasts for less than $2 a pound ($1.88/lb. this weekend), they often have petite sirloin steaks BOGO (buy 1 get 2 free this weekend) & they occasionally have Hormel Marinated Pork Loins BOGO. Publix doesn't even come close to these prices on meat and neither does Winn Dixie. The 2 Albertsons closest to me aren't closing, but I have a feeling that the end is near for all Albertsons in Florida. That will leave me with a few Winn Dixies, a Publix on every corner & paying much more for meat.

The one on 19 & Alderman smells pretty bad as well. Every time I walk in with my kids they make a big production out of holding their noses and saying PEEE EWWWW at top volume. I just love shopping with my kids. LOL

I am in Pensacola, Florida and all 4 Albertson's are being sold to Publix. I can't say for sure if this is good or not because I haven't ever shopped at a Publix and Albertson's is WAY to expensive. But I will have to say that they are having some really good deals right now. :-)

Of course the one that is 1 mile from my house they sell!! But at least i will have one left to go to that isn't forever away. Still stinks though.

As I have spoke to Publix people. An announcement has not yet been made, but they have plans for those stores that are near a Publix that is less than 8-10 years old. Depending on the clientele of the store and the nearby competition, they are considering Greenwise stores in certain areas. Dr. Phillips maybe one of them in Orlando. Publix sent out their corporate people to hand pick the stores. Some stores went unseen, but for the most part they picked the best of them. They left the few that Albertson's will be disposing of within the next 12 months. There is no recovery plan... its an investment strategy on Celebrus's part. They will sell off the remaining stores to other retailers. Some would make good bowling alleys in my opinion. Aldi's coming to Florida!
