I was wondering about you, it is a shame that Publix is buying up the competition.

Kim- where are the 2 stores left? I am in Pinellas/South Pasco. I hate to see them go. Also less competition can not help the food prices. First we lost alot of the Winn Dixies and now Albertson's! We also have several of the Kash N Karry Sites vacant that did not convert to Sweet Bays!

I'd be interested in this answer too. Publix will be the only grocery store within 25 mi of my house after this buyout. I guess I'll have to start stopping at stores on my way home from work. I work around 22nd ave n and 72nd st n so I shop at the winn dixie on 9th ave n (one block from Tyrone) but I wish there was an Albie's close to shop at because although I don't shop there too often, some of their deals are worth going for.

On another note, Kim, I can understand your worry. Four years ago, Albertson's bought the company my dad was the head IT guy for (Shaw's in Massachusetts). Two days later, the bank my mom worked for was bought out. Since they both held corporate positions, they were let go by the end of that week. That was extremely hard for our family. My parents were planning on moving to Florida for retirement (15+ years away) but figured what the heck, might as well go now. We sold everything up there and moved down here. It was really hard at first but after some time, we all realized that it was actually one of the best things that has happened to us.

Just try to keep a positive outlook on things. Maybe now's the time to move to another company, hopefully you'll get better benefits or something!!

I wanted a Publix in Pensacola....but, I didn't want it at the expense of losing ALL of the Albertson's.

If any of you are in P'cola, do you know if the grocery store on Barrancas (not too far from Navy) is Albertson's? If so, it's not on the list...which is good.

I like having variety. It means better sales.

I think its a Food World, I'm pretty sure there won't be any more Albertsons. I'm pretty bummed myself.

The ones that will be left are the stores on Gulf to bay & Belcher and the one in Largo Mall on Ulmerton rd.

I keep trying to reassure people that this could turn out to be the best thing for us in the long run and that we'll bounce back. I've been there for 14 1/2 years so it's hard to think about starting over but, I've gained an incredible amount of experience and can take that with me somewhere else.

I told one of the managers that maybe I should start teaching couponing to all of them. LOL

One of my Albies is being sold so I still have one left. As someone else said I would hate to lose my free toilet paper deals.

At least they're building some Aldi's in the Bay area so there will be some more competition. I'm stoked about the one on 66th Street in Pinellas Park since this is on my way home from work!
