Default Need help in understanding albertson sales.

Hi,

I have a relative that lives in Orlando, she doesn't have access to a computer and needs to save all she can on groceries. Single mom, 2 kids, really low in income. I live in the PA and don't know how Albertsons sales go. She told me she has one nearby. I sent her some Q's she can use this week and asked her to buy the sunday paper from now on but I need help. Can someone please explain how Albertson take coupons? Do they do face value or double them? How about internet coupons, I could always print some for her and mail them if they do. Do you need a discount card to get savings? I already told her about the Cvs EBC program she used it yesterday for the first time, she couldn't believe all the shower gels she got for $5.49 and thank me dearly for showing her how to use it. I told her I also learned about it on this page but like I said before she doesn't have a computer.

I'll appreciate all the information you can give me so that I may forward that to her.

Thanks a lot.

1. All stores (that I know of) in FL take coupons at face value and do not double.
2. Stores take IP printables at their own discretion - she will need to ask at her store.
3. There is no longer a discount card needed at Albertsons.

You're a dear to help her. Encourage her to use a computer at the library so she can learn as much as she can on her own.

Albertsons has some really good sales, but be careful, everything else is expensive. At least that is my experience and I'm in central FLA. What I might suggest is going to Publix instead. She can use a Publix coupon & a MFG coupon on the same item, makes things really decently prices. With kids I'm sure she could use the cereals @ BOGO, use coupons .. you know. I can tell you the Publix I go to takes IP, but none for a FREE item, can't blame them there. They also won't take Target coupons. But Albertons doesn't take competitors coupons, Publix does, well except for Target, it has to be another grocery store. Also, she may be able to go to the library and print out coupons, I'm not sure, but worth looking into.

If she has a Super Walmart (not my choice these days), they do honor competor sales, if you have the sale paper with you. But the one in my area is really messed up with coupons, you have to watch every one they put through.

Thanks, I'll let her know about it and will ask her to go to a library. Thank you both for your help.

My Publix started taking Target coupons a few months ago. I dunno if that's a chain decision or if it varies by store. We have a SuperTarget being built one block up from the Publix...so that might have something to do with it. Also - depending on where your relative lives - they're building 8 (i think) Aldi stores around town. There's one going in about 5 miles from my house. I don't care for the area they're putting it in so I doubt i'll ever set foot in it, but that's just the one closest to me.

I'm also in Central FL (well, practically downtown Orlando) and my local Publix / Albertson's are right next door to each other. I shop at both every week - watch the 10 for $10 sales at Albertson's...a lot of that stuff is cheaper when it's not on sale...and everyone complains about Publix being expensive, but I've noticed a lot of things are cheaper at P than A.

Getting a cashier that doesn't argue about coupons at Albertson's is hit or miss. They do tons of BOGO deals and I find that they like to tell you that you can't use a coupon on the free one. The manager always tells them to do it, but you'd think they've never gotten a coupon handed to them. The manager there knows me (ha) and likes to see how low I get my total...

Albertson's tends to run out of BOGO stuff. Doesn't seem to matter if you go the day the ad starts, ends or any day in between. Get used to getting rain checks. They pay off. Saturday I used my RC from last week's BOGO on Hormel Marinated Pork Loin - this week it was on sale for $6.99...so not only did I get the $3 off, but I got them BOGO plus the $1.25 off each coupons I had stockpiled. They're reg. $9.99 each. Can't beat $2.25.

Stores here don't double / triple coupons (boo hiss). Winn Dixie is the only one with a discount card now.

I got my younger brother into the coupon thing and he stopped by yesterday after hitting Albertson's to tell me that he spent $99 and saved $121 between coupons and BOGO deals. I was so proud.

Also - unless you get a cashier that doesn't care - they don't do overages...I don't think it's as possible to do super cheap (or free) grocery trips here as it is up north where you can double coupons.
