My trip on Sat Ok, maybe this should be under the "Hot Under the Collar" forum - mods, please move if necessary.
I have been going to my local Albie's on Friday night, about 8 pm, when there arent that many people. Well, the past couple of weeks there were no baggers at all up front. Hubby & I had to bag our own groceries. That didn't get to me very much, but I had to remind the cashier each time that we brought our own bags so we could get the discount. So, this week I tried to go on Saturday morning.
I went through the store, specifically picking up the things that were on the store sale with coupons from the ad. I had called the store, as the wording on the coupon was limit 1 coupon per person per transaction, but the itms had like "limit 3" and "limit 20" on them. They told me that the cashier would scan the coupon as many times as needed, but would not exceed the limit. Ok, no problem. So I picked up 3 blocks of Kraft cheese for $1.67 each (3 was the limit)., 2 bundles of asparagus at $.99 (per the limit), etc. Anyway, I also stockpiled biscuits. I had a coupon for them, and I got them in the order of the coupon (3 pkgs because the coupon stated $1.00 off 3, i.e.). When I got up to the cashier, I handed her my coupons - free items first (and I made sure to put those items on the belt first). There were no baggers again, and the front was getting flooded with customers. I have never had a problem, anywhere, with a cashier and coupons. The first thing the cashier told me was that she hated coupons. She then put them to the side, on the very corner of her receipt printer. She rang everything up, as I was helping the 1 bagger bag the groceries. The cashier then proceeded to drop all of my coupons in the floor & make a big deal about picking them up & scanning them. When she came to the biscuit coupons, 2 wouldn't scan. She got really irritated & called the front manager. The manager told her how to enter them, but ended up coming to the register to do it herself. They then wanted to look in the bags to count how many biscuits I had. That was fine, I didn't mind because I know I didn't miscount them. The mgr left & the cashier started scanning the store coupons. She got very mad because I had to keep telling her I got the LIMIT, please scan the coupon for EACH item I got. I do know that she didn't do it for each item limit. Like, I know she only did it for once on the asparagus when I got 2, and the coupon limit was 2. The last coupons she scanned were for $1.50 off 3 cans of Chunky Soup - I bought 9 cans. She told me "Well, you can't use these becasue you only bought 3 cans!" I politely asked if she would like to check my bags again, because I did purchase 9 cans! She sighed really loud & keyed them in manually. I also know she didn't scan the coupon for the $2 off milk when I bought 2 boxes of cereal, and I KNOW I gave her a Monopoly piece for 2 free pieces (that was a full 8 1/2x11 paper that I printed off the computer). I told her that she missed some coupons & that they were probably still on the floor. She looks at me, sticks her hands out & does a twirl, saying there are no coupons left. I then had to carry my groceries out. I mean, it was no biggie about the baggers, but all in all it was the worst experience I have ever had! I heard her telling the customer behind me (there were 5 customers - that's why I just left) that she doesn't like people that coupon because thye are a waste of time & you dont' save money - HELLO! I spent $100 oop, but I saved $111 - not counting the coupons she didn't scan! It's been a couple of days, but it still burns me about the coupons. I told hubby that if I went there & she was the only cashier I would walk out.
