| Re: I just left ACME empty handed Well, I also left ACME empty-handed today and the self-scan full order was voided.
First off, this was a brand NEW store--about 2 months old. There have been nothing but problems there.
The $5 did NOT come off the Kraft deal--was told customer service would make it good. Then NO catalinas printed(Planters and Marshmallow ones were due). Was told NONE of the catalina machines in the store were working and they could do nothing about that. I told them I could do something--KEEP THEIR GROCERIES. Needed sweet corn for the 4th and it took me 10 minutes to find 5 ears that didn't look like it should be feed for animals. Had to leave that behind. Might have been for the best.
Went to another Acme just up the road. $5 still didn't come off but the self-scan MOD adjusted. Catalinas printed, no problem. Sweet corn still looked terrible. What's up with that?
What should have been a simply, quick trip took 2 hours and 3 grocery stores to complete(found corn at a competitor's store).
And everyone wonders what I do all day |

But just to let you know I am also a Limerick shopper and had a problem with Internet printables and they are looking into. My big problem is that when I 1st had a problem it was just me and my cashier and employees kept coming over and staring and hovering around the register. It was the only register open and people were staring at me, and I was so embarassed. I ended up emailing corp and the store manager Kim called me, left a GC for my trouble which was 10.00, and is talking more about my coupon issue.
I am going to have search this thread for this deal. I am heading there tonight! | The heck with Kim....you (and DianeScraps) need to meet and strike up a relationship with Jim McClay.
He is the Store Director of both Limerick and Collegeville (didn't know about him being in charge at Collegeville as well until today. Collegeville had a sign up saying that they didn't take IPs and when I saw it as I was about to check out, I asked the MOD if that was accurate. When she said yes I laughed and said "ok - I guess I'll put this stuff back and run over to Limerick 'cause Jim never gives me a problem with them". She changed her tune immediately and told me Jim was their boss as well and that they would take my IPs)
Jim is perhaps one of the nicest store managers/directors in the area and is incredibly service-oriented. He's even looking in to seeing if they can start getting that Tava drink that there are all those $1.50 IPs for (I showed him my IP and said that I knew Genuardi's & Target carried it, but would prefer to buy it from them)
I'm not saying that you need to be his best buddy (I'm sure he doesn't know my name unless he looked it up through my Supercard after I left, but he does know me enough to comment when I am there with 1, 2 or 3 fewer of my kids), but I believe that anyone using a ton of coupons needs to not worry about being "on the radar". As long as what you are doing is above-board, flaunt it!
And believe me - the other employees in the store notice which customers the Manager/Director has chats with....and they will give you much less hassle if they think that "'da boss" likes you (which I'm sure he will) |

Maybe I will bump into you guys sometime!
Off to look at the new ad! |

| Re: I just left ACME empty handed I have dealt with Jim and he has been AWESOME!
When that free kids book coupon printed (that I didn't know the deal was out there for) I went to customer service. Asking where to find the books, they had no clue.
They called him out, he said they only had the display at the Collegeville store, I said I don't shop there anymore since Limerick opened, he said that is what we want, and had the customer service gal issue me a $5 gift card.
Honestly I totally kept my cool tonight, I know my coupons are legit, I showed her how to check them, she refused.
So, I will be calling tomorrow to see who the manager on duty is. If it isn't Jim McCay I will wait till he is in, he needs to know what is going on at the Limerick store.

| Re: I just left ACME empty handed I'm friendly with the store director, it seems to do no good. Also, speaking as a former store mgr, *most* of the time we find it annoying when a customer name drops someone that works for the company, in order to get better treatment.

When I mentioned Jim's name at Collegeville, I did it without even thinking and having NO idea that he was Store Director for both stores (which is odd to me having worked in retail myself and having a DH who is a retail manager....unless the title of SD in the Acme world is more akin to "District Manager" in retail....I would just think a SD/Manager would have his hands full enough running the day-to-day operations of ONE store, much less two!).
I WAS perfectly willing to leave the store and go to Limerick to do my purchase and I would have only complained to myself, just making a mental note not to go back to Collegeville because they don't take IPs. I wasn't asking them to bend the rules for me - just pointing out that the rules were different down the street and I would make my purchase where I could benefit the most (by being able to use my IPs)....the entire time with a smile and a pleasant tone.
But generally Store Managers/Directors don't make a point of chatting up and doing backflips to accomodate people they think are trying to scam them. Having worked in retail, if I always saw my boss coming up to a customer, chatting with her, asking her kids how karate class is going and asking the mom how much she is saving today....then the next time I saw her I wouldn't think that I needed to scrutinize her as much, since the boss seems to think she is "ok"
Does that make more sense? |

| Re: I just left ACME empty handed First, I just printed some coupons from the Acme website, with the intent of using them today. When they try to shut me down, I'll politely let them know where I got them.
Second, hubby thinks we should all get a lawyer together and do a class-action lawsuit.

Does that make more sense? | Btw when I had the probelm at Collegeville last week, and they said they dont take IP's, I said fine I would go up to Limereick. Well aparently she called Limerick and told them I was coming over and using fradulent q's. Umm hello she (Collegeville) never even looked at my q's just said we dont take Ip's.
I am still waiting for my return phone call about the Ip's. Pretty funny I went and used some last night.
All I want is it to be comsistent. It is a little ways for me to drive up there, only to sometimes be shot down and sometimes get a pat on the back of what a good job I did. |
