It will automatically spray every 9, 18 or 36 min. whatever you set it for. I also have a dog and it's just nice to have a fresh smell when you come home. It's not an over powering smell, just nice and fresh. I was able to find more of these coupons on a coupon clipping site. You may look in the trading forum and see if anyone has any there too. My house didn't have a major smell either as no one could smell it but me. I just prefer this to anything else. Plus I don't have to burn a candle all day. My only warning would be to keep it out of childrens reach. I have mine on the floor in a corner so that it doesn't spray out in someones face. But since you have a small child I wouldn't recommend that. I would put it somewhere out of reach but somewhere that you don't walk straight in front of.

I have one of these and I thought it worked ok the first few days then I didn't smell it anymore in the baby's room. Or maybe it was just me used to the smell!
