Some techs that are certified and actually deal with back billing and whatnot will refuse to let you use anything other than your primary insurance. Other techs that just don't know or don't care will let you use whichever is cheaper. Luckily, just hope that you get a nice one at some point (hopefully the first fill) because once they choose whichever card to bill, it'll default to that one every time until someone manually changes it. You could always hand them the discount card and say something like can you use this card since my insurance co told me they'll no longer cover my strips? Most techs wouldn't take the time to bother to check if they actually do or not and again, some just might not care. I always let people use whichever was cheaper but I've had one or two techs since I've quit and moved across state that have denied me using a discount card instead of my primary insurance - my answer to that is just use one pharmacy that knows about my primary insurance and all my rx's that are cheaper with just the discount, I take to another pharmacy that only knows about the discount card. They're going to lose out on some of my business now..oh well
