Default Re: saving on power bill

I live in TX and my bill is ridiculous. We have a 4 year old home, heavily insulated with double-paned windows. My bill this month jumped to $550 and that's cheap!!! Other years it went up to $700 in the summer. My house is 2-story and 3400 sq feet. We set the thermostat to be 85 during the day when no one is home and 78 at night. We also only wash clothes with cold water but it's the high cost in TX. Everyone else I know has electric bills just as high.
