Default Re: Helping explaining to husband

For those of you who's DHs don't like the stockpile, is it a matter of space? For example, do some of the members who have been around a while remember some show that featured a couponer that had gone so overboard that her family couldn't shower because the entire shower was full of toilet paper? Even if the TP was free, that would tick me off!! Also, even if you have space, is it possible he's upset because stockpile items are taking over "his" space?? My DH is a little like that. He put up shelves in the basement for me because he does not want any of the stockpile stuff in "his" garage. If you are taking over his shelf in the medicine cabinet or his shelf in the vanity I could see his issue. Also, if your stuff is in his way that may bother him. For example, does he open the medicine cabinet to get his razor and shaving cream and 6 bottles of body wash fall out??? Even though my DH is supportive of the couponing and stockpiling, those things would bother him, he has "his" space, I keep the stockpile out of the garage and his drawer in our vanity, and then he has one section of the vanity cabinet that is only for the stockpile of his products so he does not have to go to the basement or rummage through all of our stuff in the linen closet and the other two bathroom vanities for his deodorant, shampoo, razors, and shaving cream.

If he is not the financial person anyway, I'd examine the space angle and possibly he'd be more supportive and even excited about what you are doing if he didn't feel that his "space" was being invaded.
