Re: How did you get your DH on board?
"We're doing okay. We don't need to use coupons." | For some reason the above statement stood out to me from the other statements because to me it sounds like he has the misconception that only poor people coupon and save money. If you have not read the book "The millionaire next door" go and buy it or borrow it from the library. You will see that most millionares clip coupons or buy thier groceries in bulk from warehouse stores (I have the book for trade too!)
Also if you check out the results from this HCW poll (which is just an un offical poll) you can see that 45 out of the 142 people that voted make an income of $100,000 or more!
The misconception is that most coupon clippers are poor is just wrong. Yes there are poor people that clip them too, but I think the majority are SMART people trying to save money. One of the way the poor get rich is by learning how to HOLD onto the money they have and SAVE it.
Perhaps your DH thinks that only people that are poor clip coupons and you need to OPEN his eyes. Budgeting and goals are great ways to get the point accross that you have being wise with your money and by clipping those coupons. Maybe he feels like you think he is not providing enough that you need to use coupons.
I think it is time for a wake up call.
My DH loves it and get it, has from the begining. We are not rich but are making progress into the realm of actually saving money and building our "wealth" He works 50+ hours a day and I SAH with 5 kids. Couponing affords us to live a better quality life on a smaller household income. It affords me to feed my family and lets me stay at home with the kids. It is also a GREAT high, and lots of fun.
