I just went and used both and had no problems. I had a bjs coupon for $4/2 boxes of cresent rolls. I used that and then I had 4 0.30 off one can coupons and used those too. No problems.
As for the expired ones going through the self check out, try one at the regular check out and if the cashier won't let it or it won't go through then you can't do it.
