Re: Newbie Questions for Publix Shoppers Sheila, I'm so glad you had a great Publix trip! My grocery biz friend says that store's about a year old and they are slowly taking business from the extremely high volume kroger across the street. This person also told me they are talking about building a super kroger there, supposed to be like the kroger owned meijer stores in other parts of the country.
I've never been a publix employee, but I do know that they stock during the day so that there will be employees on the isles. I also know that if a customer is within so many feet of any employee and looks like they might need help, that employee is supposed to ask if they need help, even if said employee is stocking. They also prefer employees take you to something you're looking for. They are supposed to special order anything they don't carry (if possible), they are supposed to have a minimum number of customers in any line, I could name about 10 more high customer service practices if anyone's interested! Publix employees get publix stock, so they are usually much more motivated to keep customers happy too!
