Re: Need help in understanding albertson sales. My Publix started taking Target coupons a few months ago. I dunno if that's a chain decision or if it varies by store. We have a SuperTarget being built one block up from the Publix...so that might have something to do with it. Also - depending on where your relative lives - they're building 8 (i think) Aldi stores around town. There's one going in about 5 miles from my house. I don't care for the area they're putting it in so I doubt i'll ever set foot in it, but that's just the one closest to me.
I'm also in Central FL (well, practically downtown Orlando) and my local Publix / Albertson's are right next door to each other. I shop at both every week - watch the 10 for $10 sales at Albertson's...a lot of that stuff is cheaper when it's not on sale...and everyone complains about Publix being expensive, but I've noticed a lot of things are cheaper at P than A.
Getting a cashier that doesn't argue about coupons at Albertson's is hit or miss. They do tons of BOGO deals and I find that they like to tell you that you can't use a coupon on the free one. The manager always tells them to do it, but you'd think they've never gotten a coupon handed to them. The manager there knows me (ha) and likes to see how low I get my total...
Albertson's tends to run out of BOGO stuff. Doesn't seem to matter if you go the day the ad starts, ends or any day in between. Get used to getting rain checks. They pay off. Saturday I used my RC from last week's BOGO on Hormel Marinated Pork Loin - this week it was on sale for $6.99...so not only did I get the $3 off, but I got them BOGO plus the $1.25 off each coupons I had stockpiled. They're reg. $9.99 each. Can't beat $2.25.
Stores here don't double / triple coupons (boo hiss). Winn Dixie is the only one with a discount card now.
I got my younger brother into the coupon thing and he stopped by yesterday after hitting Albertson's to tell me that he spent $99 and saved $121 between coupons and BOGO deals. I was so proud.
Also - unless you get a cashier that doesn't care - they don't do overages...I don't think it's as possible to do super cheap (or free) grocery trips here as it is up north where you can double coupons. |
