Coupon Apps for Mobile Devices Make Clipping Coupons a Thing of The Past

How many of you grew up with a mother who religiously clipped coupons from the Sunday newspaper, and filed them away in an elaborately cataloged coupon book (or in my mother’s case, it was a #10 envelope, replete and unorganized) for the next shopping trip? I refuse to pay full price for things I know I can get at a discount, but the thought of clipping coupons and schlepping around a coupon book makes me feel like I’m turning into my mother. This post is for those of you who are looking for a way to save money without having to fall into the archaic, albeit nostalgic, routine of clipping coupons.

There is no more need for a coupon book as long as you have a capable mobile device. Remember when Apple trademarked the “There’s An App For That” slogan? Well, guess what? There IS an app – several apps, in fact – for digital coupons. Given the seemingly limitless selection of coupon apps available on the market today, I’ve gone ahead and taken the liberty of selecting three highly recommended coupon apps for your mobile phone:

The Coupons AppThe Coupons App: This is the most popular Android download with versions of the app available for iPhone and iPad tablet computer devices. Access real-time coupons and daily deals that continuously update throughout the day, right on your phone. This app caters to the consumer as much as it does to the merchant. For a fee, business owners can locally advertise to customers “on the go.”

GeoQponsGeoQpons: At $2.99, this exclusive BlackBerry app is worth the price.  The release comes with a new user interface with more deals, including daily deals from over 350 name brands and over 100,000 local businesses. Designed for easy use and convenience, GeoQpons has several key features built-in such as a “sort by category” filter, a “favorites tab” for quick access to your favorite stores and coupons, and an option to “share coupons with friends.”  This app is available for all compatible devices, including RIM’s newly released BlackBerry Dakota.

Yowza!!Yowza!!: This free app provides geographically based coupons and deals (from within one mile of your current location and up to 50 miles away).  My favorite feature of this app is that it “tracks your savings,” so you know how much money is being saved every time you use a coupon sourced from this app. Yowza!! was originally developed for iPhone, but is now available for download even if you don’t have an iPhone.

Do you have a favorite coupon app you use and it’s not listed above? Please feel free to share it with us!
