Can You Use Multiples Of The Same Coupon? – Ask The Coupon Girls

Got Questions? Ask The Coupon GirlsReader Andrea from Montana asks the Coupon Girls the following question:

Let’s say you are buying 3 bags of candy. You have 3 coupons for 1 dollar off 3 bags. Can you use 3 of that same coupon?

Hey Andrea,

That is a really great question, but the short answer is no. You see, if you have a manufactures coupon that is for $1.00 off 3 bags of candy you can only use one coupon for each 3 bags of candy you buy. The coupon, you see, is attached to all three bags of candy. Almost all coupons state on them that you are “limited to one coupon per purchase”. What that means is that for each item or sets of items that the coupon is for (be that one, two, three, four, etc) you can only use one coupon. The only exception to this rule is when you can stack a store coupon with a manufactures coupon. It is important to note that not all stores have store coupons and not all stores that DO have store coupons allow you to stack their store coupons with additional manufactures coupons. So be sure to learn what your store coupon policies are for the stores you shop at.

Happy Shopping!

Heidi

  1. Did you get per purchase and per transaction wrong?

If she has 3 per purchase she should be able to use three of the same, but she would have to buy 9 bags of candy in all to use all three coupons.

    • Hi Kristen, no I did not get “one per purchase” and “one per transaction” mixed up. If she has a coupon for $1.00 off 3 then she can use one coupon for every three items she is purchasing. If she has three of this coupons, the you are correct she would need to puchase 9 bags of candy in order to use all three coupons.
